Deuteronomy 14
1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.
»Ihr seid Söhne für den HERRN, euren Gott; darum dürft ihr euch wegen eines Toten keine Einschnitte ins Fleisch machen und euch über der Stirn nicht kahlscheren;
2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.
denn du bist ein dem HERRN, deinem Gott, geheiligtes Volk, und dich hat der HERR, dein Gott, aus allen Völkern, die es auf dem ganzen Erdboden gibt, zu seinem Eigentumsvolk erwählt. –
3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.
Du sollst nichts Greuelhaftes essen!
4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,
Dies sind die Vierfüßler, die ihr essen dürft: Rind, Schaf und Ziege,
5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.
Hirsch, Gazelle, Damwild, Steinbock, Antilope, wilder Ochs und Bergziege
6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.
und überhaupt alle Vierfüßler, die gespaltene Hufe haben, und zwar ganz durchgespaltene, also zwei Hufe, und die zugleich Wiederkäuer unter den Vierfüßlern sind: diese dürft ihr essen.
7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.
Dagegen folgende dürft ihr von den Wiederkäuern und von denen, welche ganz durchgespaltene Hufe haben, nicht essen: das Kamel, den Hasen und den Klippdachs; denn sie sind zwar Wiederkäuer, haben aber keine gespaltenen Hufe: als unrein sollen sie euch gelten;
8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.
ferner das Schwein, denn es hat zwar gespaltene Klauen, ist aber kein Wiederkäuer: als unrein soll es euch gelten; vom Fleisch dieser Tiere dürft ihr nichts genießen und ihre toten Leiber nicht anrühren. –
9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.
Dies ist es, was ihr von allen im Wasser lebenden Tieren essen dürft: alles, was Flossen und Schuppen hat: diese dürft ihr essen;
10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.
aber alles, was keine Flossen und Schuppen hat, dürft ihr nicht genießen: als unrein soll es euch gelten. –
11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.
Alle reinen Vögel dürft ihr essen;
12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,
folgende aber sind es, von denen ihr nichts essen dürft: der Adler, der Lämmergeier, der Bartgeier,
13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,
die Weihe, der Habicht, die verschiedenen Falkenarten,
14 and any kind of raven,
alle Arten von Raben,
15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,
der Strauß, die Schwalbe, die Möwe, alle Habichtarten,
16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,
das Käuzchen, der Uhu, die Eule,
17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,
der Pelikan, der Aasgeier, der Sturzpelikan,
18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.
der Storch, die verschiedenen Arten der Regenpfeifer, der Wiedehopf und die Fledermaus.
19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.
Auch alle geflügelten Insekten sollen euch als unrein gelten und dürfen nicht gegessen werden.
20 All that is clean, you shall eat.
Alles reine Geflügel dürft ihr essen. –
21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.
Von gefallenen Tieren dürft ihr nichts genießen; dem Fremdling, der in deinen Ortschaften lebt, magst du sie zum Essen geben oder magst sie an einen Nichtisraeliten verkaufen; denn du bist ein dem HERRN, deinem Gott, geheiligtes Volk. – Ein Böckchen darfst du nicht in der Milch seiner Mutter kochen.«
22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.
»Den ganzen Ertrag deiner Aussaat, alles, was dir auf dem Felde wächst, sollst du Jahr für Jahr gewissenhaft verzehnten
23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.
und sollst den Zehnten deines Getreides, deines Weins und deines Öls sowie die Erstgeburten deiner Rinder und deines Kleinviehs vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, an der Stätte, die er erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen, verzehren, damit du den HERRN, deinen Gott, allezeit fürchten lernst.
24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,
Wenn dir aber der Weg zu weit ist, so daß du, wenn der HERR, dein Gott, dich gesegnet hat, den Zehnten nicht hinbringen kannst, weil die Stätte, die der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dorthin zu versetzen, zu weit von dir entfernt liegt:
25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.
so mache den Zehnten zu Geld, nimm dann das Geld wohlbewahrt mit dir und begib dich an den Ort, den der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird.
26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.
Dort gib das Geld aus für alles, wonach dein Herz Verlangen tragen mag, für Rinder und Kleinvieh, für Wein und starke Getränke, kurz für alles, wonach dich gelüsten mag; halte dann dort vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, ein Mahl und sei mit deinen Angehörigen fröhlich.
27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.
Dabei vergiß aber auch die Leviten nicht, die in deinen Wohnorten leben; denn sie haben keinen eigenen Landbesitz und kein Erbteil gleich dir.
28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.
Nach Verlauf von je drei Jahren sollst du den gesamten Zehnten deines Ertrags von jenem Jahre für sich besonders nehmen und ihn in deinen Wohnorten niederlegen;
29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”
dann sollen die Leviten, die ja keinen eigenen Landbesitz und kein Erbteil gleich dir haben, sowie die Fremdlinge, die Witwen und die Waisen, die in deinen Wohnorten leben, herbeikommen und sich satt essen, damit der HERR, dein Gott, dich segne bei aller Arbeit deiner Hände, bei allem, was du unternimmst.«
