< Deuteronomy 12 >

1 “These are the precepts and judgments which you must do in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, will give to you, so that you may possess it during all the days that you shall walk upon the soil.
“Ko eni ʻae ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni mo e ngaahi fakamaau, ʻaia ke mou tokanga ki ai ʻo fai ʻi he fonua, ʻaia ʻoku foaki kiate koe ke maʻu ia ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻa hoʻomou ngaahi tamai, ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē ʻoku mou moʻui ʻi he funga ʻo māmani.
2 Overturn all the places where the nations, which you will possess, worshipped their gods on lofty mountains, and on hills, and under every leafy tree.
Ke mou fakaʻauha ʻaupito ʻae potu kotoa pē, ʻaia naʻe tauhi ʻi ai honau ngaahi ʻotua ʻe he ngaahi puleʻanga te mou ikuna, ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga, pea ki he ngaahi tafungofunga, pea ʻi he lolo ʻakau mata kotoa pē:
3 Scatter their altars and break their statues. Burn their sacred groves with fire and crush their idols. Abolish their names from those places.
Pea ke mou holoki hifo honau ngaahi feilaulauʻanga, pea fesiʻi honau ngaahi pou, pea tutu honau ngaahi vaotapu ʻaki ʻae afi; pea ke mou tā hifo honau ngaahi meʻa fakatātā ki honau ngaahi ʻotua, pea fakaʻauha honau ngaahi hingoa mei he potu ko ia.
4 But you shall not do the same to the Lord your God.
‌ʻE ʻikai te mou fai pehē kia Sihova ko homou ʻOtua.
5 Instead, you shall approach the place which the Lord your God will choose among all your tribes, so that he may set his name there, and may dwell in that place.
Ka ko e potu ko ia ʻaia ʻe fili ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua mei homou ngaahi faʻahinga kotoa pē ke ʻai ki ai hono huafa, ʻio, ke mou kumi ki hono ʻafioʻanga, pea ke mou hoko atu ki ai:
6 And you shall offer, in that place, your holocausts and victims, the tithes and first-fruits of your hands, and your vows and gifts, the firstborn of the cattle and of the sheep.
Pea te mou fetuku ki ai ʻa hoʻomou ngaahi feilaulau tutu, mo hoʻomou ngaahi feilaulau, mo hoʻomou tukuhau, mo e feilaulau hiki hake ʻa homou nima, mo hoʻomou ngaahi fuakava, mo hoʻomou meʻa ʻatu ʻi he loto ʻofa, mo e ʻuluaki fānau ʻa hoʻomou fanga manu lalahi mo hoʻomou fanga manu siʻi.
7 And you shall eat it there, in the sight of the Lord your God. And you shall rejoice in all the things to which you shall set your hand: you and your household, which the Lord your God has blessed for you.
Pea ke mou kai ʻi ai ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, pea mou fiefia ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku mou mafao atu homou nima ki ai, ʻakimoutolu mo homou kau nofoʻanga, ʻaia kuo tāpuaki ʻaki koe ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua.
8 You shall not do there the things that we are doing here today: each one doing what seems good to himself.
‌ʻE ʻikai te mou fai ʻo fakatatau ki he meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku tau fai ʻi heni he ʻaho ni, ʻae tangata kotoa pē ʻaia ʻoku totonu ʻi hono ʻao ʻoʻona.
9 For even until the present time, you did not arrive at the rest and the possession, which the Lord your God will give to you.
He ʻoku teʻeki ai hoko ʻakimoutolu ki he mālōlōʻanga, pea ki he tofiʻa, ʻaia ʻoku foaki ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu.
10 You shall cross over the Jordan, and you shall live in the land which the Lord your God will give to you, so that you may have rest from all the surrounding enemies, and so that you may live without any fear,
Ka ʻi hoʻomou ʻalu atu ki he kauvai ʻe taha ʻo Sioatani, pea nofo ʻi he fonua ʻaia ʻoku foaki ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua ke mou maʻu, pea ʻi heʻene tuku kiate kimoutolu ʻae mālōlō mei homou ngaahi fili kotoa pē ʻoku takatakai ʻiate kimoutolu, koeʻuhi ke mou nofo fiemālie pē;
11 in the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be in it. To that place, you shall bring all the things that I instruct you: holocausts, and victims, and tithes, and the first-fruits of your hands, and whatever is best among the gifts that you shall vow to the Lord.
‌ʻE toki ʻi ai ha potu ʻaia ʻe fili ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ke pule ke nofo ki ai hono huafa; te mou fetuku ki ai ʻaia kotoa pē ʻoku ou fekau kiate kimoutolu, ko hoʻomou ngaahi feilaulau tutu, mo hoʻomou ngaahi feilaulau, ʻa hoʻomou ngaahi tukuhau, mo e feilaulau hiki hake ʻa homou nima, mo hoʻomou ngaahi fuakava ʻaia ʻoku mou fuakava ai kia Sihova:
12 In that place, you shall feast before the Lord your God: you, and your sons and daughters, your men and women servants, as well as the Levite who dwells in your cities. For he has no other portion or possession among you.
Pea te mou fiefia ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ʻakimoutolu mo homou ngaahi foha, mo homou ngaahi ʻofefine, mo hoʻomou kau tamaioʻeiki, mo homou kau nofoʻanga, pea mo e kau Livai ʻaia ʻoku ʻi homou ngaahi lotoʻā; he koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai hano tufakanga pe tofiʻa ʻiate kimoutolu.
13 Take care that you do not offer your holocausts in any place that you see.
Vakai lelei kiate koe ke ʻoua naʻa ke ʻatu hoʻo feilaulau tutu ʻi he potu kotoa pē ʻoku ke mamata ki ai.
14 Instead, you shall offer sacrifices in the place which the Lord will choose within one of your tribes, and you shall do whatsoever I instruct you.
Ka ko e potu ko ia ʻaia ʻe fili ʻe Sihova ʻi homou faʻahinga ʻe taha, ke ke ʻatu ʻi ai ʻa hoʻo ngaahi feilaulau tutu, pea ke fai ʻi ai ʻaia kotoa pē ʻoku ou fekau kiate koe.
15 So, if you wish to eat, and if the eating of flesh pleases you, then kill and eat according to the blessing of the Lord your God, which he has given to you, in your cities: you may eat it whether it is unclean, that is, having blemish or defect, or whether it is clean, that is, whole and without blemish, of the kind which is permitted to be offered, such as the roe deer and the stag.
Ka neongo ia te ke tāmateʻi mo kai kakano ʻi ho ngaahi matapā kotoa pē, ʻaia kotoa pē ʻoku ke holi ki ai, ʻo fakatatau ki he tāpuaki ʻa Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻaia kuo ne tuku kiate koe; ko e taʻemaʻa mo e maʻa kenau ʻai mei ai, ʻi he ʻanitelope mo haʻate.
16 Only the blood you shall not eat. Instead, you shall pour it upon the ground like water.
Kaeʻoua ʻaupito naʻa mou kai ʻae toto; ka mou lilingi ia ki he kelekele ʻo hangē ko e vai.
17 You may not eat in your towns the tithes of your crops, and your wine and oil, the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, nor anything which you will vow, or which you will offer spontaneously, nor the first-fruits of your hands.
“ʻE ʻikai ngofua ke ke kai ʻi ho lotoʻā hono hongofulu ʻoe vahe ʻo hoʻo uite, pe ʻo hoʻo uaine, pe ʻo hoʻo lolo, pe ko e ʻuluaki ʻuhiki ʻo hoʻo fanga manu lalahi pe ko e fanga manu siʻi, pe ko ha meʻa ʻi hoʻo fuakava ʻaia kuo ke fuakava ki ai, pe ko hoʻo feilaulau loto lelei, pe ko e feilaulau hiki hake ʻa ho nima:
18 But you shall eat these before the Lord your God, in the place which the Lord your God will choose: you, and your son, and your daughter, and your man servant and woman servant, and the Levite who dwells in your cities. And you shall rejoice and be refreshed in the sight of the Lord your God by all the things to which you will extend your hand.
Ka te ke kai ia ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻi he potu ʻaia ʻoku fili ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ʻe koe, mo ho foha, mo ho ʻofefine, mo hoʻo tamaioʻeiki, mo hoʻo kaunanga, mo e Livai ʻaia ʻoku ʻi ho lotoʻā: pea te ke fiefia koe ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku ke ʻai ho nima ki ai.
19 Be careful, lest you abandon the Levite, at any time while you are living in the land.
Ke ke vakai kiate koe ke ʻoua naʻa ke liʻaki ʻae kau Livai ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho kotoa pē ʻoku ke moʻui ai ʻi he māmani.
20 When the Lord your God will have enlarged your borders, just as he has spoken to you, and when you would eat the flesh that your soul desires,
“ʻOka fakalahi ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻa ho fonua, ʻo hangē ko ia kuo ne talaʻofa kiate koe, pea ke lau, ʻo pehē, Te u kai kakano, ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo holi ke kai kakano; ʻe lelei pe hoʻo kai kakano, ʻaia ʻoku ke holi ki ai.
21 but if the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be there, is far away, you may kill, from your herds and your flocks which you will have, in the manner I have instructed to you, and you may eat in your towns, as it pleases you.
Kapau ʻoku mamaʻo ʻiate koe ʻae potu ʻaia kuo fili ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ke ʻai ki ai hono huafa, te ke toki tāmateʻi mei hoʻo fanga manu lalahi, pea mo hoʻo fanga manu siʻi, ʻaia kuo tuku kiate koe ʻe Sihova, ʻo hangē ko ia kuo u fekau kiate koe, pea te ke kai ʻi ho ngaahi matapā ʻaia kotoa pē ʻoku ke holi ki ai.
22 Just as the roe deer and the stag may be eaten, so also may you eat these: you may eat both the clean and the unclean alike.
‌ʻO hangē ko e kai ʻae ʻanitelope mo e haʻate, ʻe pehē pe hoʻo kai ʻena: ʻe fakatou kai ʻae taʻemaʻa mo e maʻa mei ai.
23 Only beware of this: you may not eat the blood. For their blood is for the soul. And because of this, you must not eat the soul with the flesh.
Ka ke vakai ke ʻoua ʻaupito naʻa ke kai toto: he ko e toto ko e moʻui; pea ʻoku ʻikai ngofua haʻo kai ʻae moʻuiʻanga fakataha mo e kanomate.
24 Instead, you shall pour it upon the ground like water,
‌ʻOua naʻa ke kai ia, ka ke lilingi ia ki he kelekele ʻo hangē ko e vai.
25 so that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, when you will do what is pleasing in the sight of the Lord.
‌ʻOua naʻa ke kai ia; koeʻuhi ke hoko ai ʻae lelei kiate koe, pea ki hoʻo fānau kimui ʻiate koe, ʻoka ke ka fai ʻaia ʻoku totonu ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova.
26 But the things that you have sanctified and vowed to the Lord, you shall take up and bring to the place which the Lord will choose.
Ka ko hoʻo ngaahi meʻa māʻoniʻoni ʻaia ʻoku ke maʻu, mo hoʻo meʻa kuo ke fuakava ʻaki, ke ke toʻo ʻo ʻave ia ki he potu ʻaia kuo fili ʻe Sihova:
27 And you shall offer your oblations of flesh and of blood upon the altar of the Lord your God. You shall poor out the blood of your victims upon the altar. And you yourself shall eat the flesh.
Pea ke ʻatu hoʻo ngaahi feilaulau tutu, ko e kakano mo hono toto, ki he feilaulauʻanga ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua: pea ko e toto ʻo hoʻo ngaahi feilaulau ʻe lilingi ia ki he funga ʻoe feilaulauʻanga ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, pea te ke kai ʻe koe hono kakano.
28 Observe and heed all the things that I instruct to you, so that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, continually, when you will do what is good and pleasing in the sight of the Lord your God.
Ke ke vakai mo tokanga ki he ngaahi lea ni ʻaia ʻoku ou fekau kiate koe, Koeʻuhi ke hoko ai ʻae lelei kiate koe, pea ki hoʻo ngaahi fānau kimui ʻiate koe ʻo taʻengata, ʻoka ke ka fai ʻaia ʻoku lelei mo totonu ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua.
29 When the Lord your God will have abolished before your face the nations, which you shall enter so as to possess them, and when you will possess them and live in their land,
“ʻOka motuhi mei ho ʻao ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga, ʻaia ʻoku ke ʻalu ki ai ke maʻu ʻakinautolu, pea kuo ke hoko ʻo fetongi ʻakinautolu, ʻo nofo ʻi honau fonua;
30 be careful that you do not imitate them, after they have been overturned at your arrival, and that you do not seek their ceremonies, saying: ‘Just as these nations have worshipped their gods, so also will I worship.’
Ke ke vakai kiate koe telia naʻa kākāʻia koe ʻi hoʻo angimui kiate kinautolu, ʻoka hili hono fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu mei ho ʻao, pea ʻoua naʻa ke fehuʻi koe ki honau ngaahi ʻotua, ʻo pehē, naʻe fēfē hono tauhi ʻe he ngaahi puleʻanga ni ki honau ngaahi ʻotua? He ʻe pehē pē ʻeku fai.
31 You shall not act in like manner toward the Lord your God. For they have done to their gods all the abominations that the Lord spurns, offering their sons and daughters, and burning them with fire.
‌ʻOua naʻa ke fai pehē kia Sihova ko ho ʻOtua: he ko e meʻa kovi kotoa pē kia Sihova, ʻaia ʻoku fehiʻa ia ki ai, kuo ʻosi ʻenau fai ki honau ngaahi ʻotua; he ko honau ngaahi foha mo honau ngaahi ʻofefine kuo nau tutu ʻi he afi ki honau ngaahi ʻotua.
32 What I command to you, this only shall you do, for the Lord. You may neither add nor subtract anything.”
“Ko e meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku ou fekau kiate kimoutolu, mou tokanga ki ai ʻo fai, ʻoua naʻa ke fakalahi ia, pē fakasiʻisiʻi ki ai.
