Daniel 4

1 Nebuchadnezzar, the king, to all peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in the whole world, may peace be increased with you.

அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சார், உலகம் முழுவதிலும் வாழும் மக்களுக்கும், நாடுகளுக்கும், பல்வேறு மொழிகளைப் பேசுபவர்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கிறதாவது: நீங்கள் மிகவும் செழித்து வாழ்வடைவீர்களாக.

2 The supreme God has accomplished signs and wonders with me. Therefore, it has pleased me to proclaim

மகா உன்னதமான இறைவன் எனக்குச் செய்த அற்புத அடையாளங்களையும், அதிசயங்களையும் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்வதில் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறேன்.

3 his signs, which are great, and his wonders, which are mighty. For his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his power continues from generation to generation.

அவர் செய்த அடையாளங்கள் எவ்வளவு பெரியவை!

4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was content in my house and prospering in my palace.

நேபுகாத்நேச்சாராகிய நான் என் அரண்மனையிலுள்ள என் வீட்டில் திருப்தியுடனும், செழிப்புடனும் இருந்தேன்.

5 I saw a dream that terrified me, and my thoughts on my bed and the visions in my head disturbed me.

ஆனால் நான் ஒரு கனவு கண்டு பயமடைந்தேன். நான் எனது படுக்கையில் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, என் மனதை ஊடுருவிச்சென்ற காட்சிகளும், தரிசனங்களும் என்னுள்ளத்தில் திகிலை உண்டாக்கின.

6 And so a decree was established by me, that all of the wise men of Babylon should be brought in before me, and that they should reveal to me the answer to the dream.

ஆகையால், எனது கனவின் விளக்கத்தை எனக்குச் சொல்லும்படி பாபிலோனிலுள்ள எல்லா ஞானிகளையும் எனக்கு முன்பாக அழைத்துவரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டேன்.

7 Then the seers, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers entered, and I explained about the dream in their presence, but they did not reveal its answer to me.

மந்திரவாதிகளும், மாந்திரீகர்களும், சோதிடரும், குறிசொல்பவர்களும் வந்தபோது அவர்களுக்கு என் கனவைச் சொன்னேன். ஆனால் அவர்களால் கனவின் விளக்கத்தை எனக்குச் சொல்ல முடியவில்லை.

8 And then their colleague came in before me, Daniel, (whose name is Belteshazzar according to the name of my god, ) who has the spirit of the holy gods within his very self, and I told the dream directly to him.

கடைசியாகத் தானியேல் என் முன்பாக வந்தபோது, நான் எனது கனவை அவனிடம் சொன்னேன். அவன், “பெல்தெஷாத்சார்” என்னும் என் தெய்வத்தின் பெயரால் அழைக்கப்படுகிறான். அவனுக்குள் பரிசுத்த தெய்வங்களின் ஆவி இருக்கிறது.

9 Belteshazzar, leader of the seers, since I know that you have in you the spirit of the holy gods, and that no mystery is unreachable to you, explain to me the visions of my dreams, which I saw, and the solution to them.

நான் அவனிடம், “மந்திரவாதிகளுள் பிரதானமானவனே பெல்தெஷாத்சாரே, பரிசுத்த தெய்வங்களின் ஆவி உன்னிடம் உண்டென்பதை நான் அறிவேன். எந்த மறைபொருளையும் வெளிப்படுத்துவது உனக்குக் கடினமல்ல. இதுதான் எனது கனவு, அதன் விளக்கத்தைச் சொல் என்றேன்.”

10 This was the vision of my head on my bed. I looked, and behold, a tree in the middle of the earth, and its height was exceedingly great.

நான் எனது படுக்கையில் படுத்திருக்கையில் கண்ட தரிசனங்கள் இவையே: நான் பார்த்தபோது எனக்கு முன்பாக நாட்டின் நடுவில் ஒரு மரம் நின்றது. அது மிக உயரமாயிருந்தது.

11 The tree was great and strong, and its height reached up to heaven. It could be seen all the way to the ends of the entire earth.

அந்த மரம் விசாலமாயும் வலுவுள்ளதாயும் வளர்ந்தது. அதன் நுனிக்கிளை ஆகாயத்தைத் தொட்டது. உலகத்தின் எல்லாப் பகுதிகளிலிருந்தும் அதைப் பார்க்கக் கூடியதாயிருந்தது.

12 Its leaves were very beautiful, and its fruit was very abundant, and in it was food for the whole world. Under it, animals and beasts were dwelling, and in its branches, the birds of the sky were sheltered, and from it, all flesh was fed.

அதன் இலைகள் அழகானதாயும், அதில் பழங்கள் நிறைந்தும் காணப்பட்டன. எல்லோருக்கும் உணவும் அதில் இருந்தது. அதன் கீழே வெளியின் மிருகங்கள் புகலிடமடைந்திருந்தன. அதன் கிளைகளில் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளும் குடியிருந்தன. அதிலிருந்து எல்லா உயிரினங்களுக்கும் உணவு கிடைத்தது.

13 I saw in the vision of my head upon my blanket, and behold, a watcher and a holy one descended from heaven.

நான் எனது படுக்கையில் படுத்திருக்கும்போது, இந்தத் தரிசனத்தைக் கண்டேன். அதில் பரலோகத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி ஒரு பரிசுத்த தூதன் எனக்கு முன்பாக வந்தார்.

14 He cried out loudly, and he said this: “Cut down the tree and prune its branches; shake off its leaves and scatter its fruits; let flee the beasts, which are under it, and the birds from its branches.

அவர் உரத்த சத்தமிட்டு, “இந்த மரத்தை வெட்டி வீழ்த்துங்கள். கிளைகளை அகற்றிப்போடுங்கள். அவற்றின் இலைகளை உதிர்த்து விடுங்கள். பழங்களைப் பறித்தெறியுங்கள். இந்த மரத்தின் கீழுள்ள மிருகங்களெல்லாம் ஓடிவிடட்டும். அதன் கிளைகளில் தங்கியுள்ள பறவைகளும் பறந்துவிடட்டும்.

15 Nevertheless, leave the stump of its roots in the earth, and let it be bound with a band of iron and brass among the plants, which are close by, and let it be touched by the dew of heaven, and let its place be with the wild animals among the plants of the earth.

ஆனால் அதன் அடிமரத்தையும், வேர்களையும் இரும்பினாலும், வெண்கலத்தினாலும், கலந்து செய்யப்பட்ட சங்கிலியில் கட்டப்பட்டதாய் வயல்வெளியின் புற்தரையில் மீந்திருக்க விட்டுவிடுங்கள்” என்றார். மேலும் அவர், “‘வானத்தின் பனியில் நனைந்து, பூமியிலுள்ள மிருகங்களோடு வெளியில் பயிர்களுக்கிடையில் வாழட்டும்.

16 Let his heart be changed from being human, and let the heart of a wild animal be given to him, and let seven periods of time pass over him.

அவனுடைய மனம் மாற்றப்பட்டு மனித மனமாயிராமல் போகட்டும். ஏழு காலங்கள் அவனைக் கடந்துசெல்லும்வரை மிருகத்தின் மனம் அவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படட்டும்.

17 This is the decree from the judgment of the watchers, and the decision and proclamation of the holy ones, until the living shall know that the Supreme One is ruler in the kingdom of men, and that he will give it to whomever he wills, and he will appoint the lowest man over it.”

“‘அந்த தீர்மானம் தூதுவர்களாலும் அந்தத் தீர்ப்பு பரிசுத்தராலும் அறிவிக்கப்படுகிறது. மகா உன்னதமானவரே பூமியில் மனிதருடைய அரசுகளுக்கு மேலாக ஆளுபவர் என்பதையும், அவர் தாம் விரும்புகிறவர்களுக்கு அரசுகளைக் கொடுப்பவர் என்பதையும், அவற்றிற்கு மேலாக மனிதரில் தாழ்ந்த நிலையில் உள்ளவர்களை நியமித்திருப்பவர் என்பதையும், உலகில் வாழ்வோர் எல்லோரும் அறிந்துகொள்ளும்படியே அந்தத் தீர்ப்பு கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்றார்.’

18 I, king Nebuchadnezzar, saw this dream. And so you, Belteshazzar, must quickly explain to me the interpretation because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to declare the meaning of it to me. But you are able because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.

“அரசனான நேபுகாத்நேச்சாராகிய நான் கண்ட கனவு இதுவே. பெல்தெஷாத்சாரே இப்பொழுது இதன் விளக்கத்தை நீ எனக்குச் சொல். ஏனெனில் என் அரசிலுள்ள ஞானிகள் எவராலும் இதை எனக்கு விளக்கிச் சொல்ல முடியவில்லை. ஆனால் உன்னால் முடியும். ஏனெனில் பரிசுத்த தெய்வங்களின் ஆவி உனக்குள் இருக்கிறது என்றான்.”

19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, began silently to think within himself for about one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. But the king responded, saying, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream and its interpretation disturb you.” Belteshazzar answered and said, “My lord, the dream is for those who hate you, and its interpretation may be for your enemies.

அப்பொழுது பெல்தெஷாத்சார் என அழைக்கப்படும் தானியேல், சிறிது நேரம் மிகவும் குழப்பமடைந்து நின்றான். அவனுடைய சிந்தனைகள் அவனுக்குத் திகிலைக் கொடுத்தது. அதைக்கண்ட அரசன், “பெல்தெஷாத்சாரே, இக்கனவினாலோ, அதன் விளக்கத்தினாலோ நீ கலங்கவேண்டாம் என்றான்.” அதற்கு பெல்தெஷாத்சார், “என் தலைவனே இக்கனவு உமது பகைவர்களுக்கும், அதன் விளக்கம் உமது எதிரிகளுக்கும் பலித்திருந்தால் எவ்வளவு நலமாயிருக்குமே!

20 The tree that you saw was lofty and strong; its height reached toward heaven, and it could be seen throughout the whole world.

நீர் ஒரு மரத்தைக் கண்டீரே; அது விசாலமானதாயும், வலுவுள்ளதாயும் வளர்ந்தது. அதன் நுனிக்கிளை உலகத்தின் எல்லாப் பகுதிகளிலிருந்தும் காணக்கூடியதாய் ஆகாயத்தைத் தொட்டது.

21 And its branches were very beautiful, and its fruit very abundant, and in it was food for all. Under it, dwelt the beasts of the field, and in its branches, the birds of the air stayed.

அதோடு இலைகள் அழகானதாயும், அதில் பழங்கள் நிறைந்தும் காணப்பட்டது. அவை எல்லோருக்கும் போதுமான உணவாயும் இருந்தன. வெளியின் மிருகங்களுக்கு அம்மரம் புகலிடம் கொடுத்தது. அதன் கிளைகளில் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகள் கூடுகட்ட இடமும் இருந்தது.

22 It is you, O king, who has been greatly esteemed, and you have grown strong. And you have increased your power, and it reaches towards heaven, and your rule is to the ends of the whole earth.

அரசே! நீரே அந்த மரம். நீர் பெரியவராயும், வல்லமையுடையவராயும் ஆகியிருக்கிறீர். உமது மேன்மை ஆகாயத்தைத் தொடும் வரைக்கும் வளர்ந்திருக்கிறது. உம்முடைய ஆளுகை பூமியின் தூரமான பகுதி வரைக்கும் விரிவடைந்திருக்கிறது.

23 Yet the king also saw a watcher and a holy one descend from heaven and say: ‘Cut down the tree and scatter it; however, leave the stump of its roots in the earth, and let it be bound with iron and brass, among the surrounding plants, and let it be sprinkled with the dew of heaven, and let his feeding be with the wild beasts, until seven periods of time pass over him.’

“அரசே! பரலோகத்திலிருந்து பரிசுத்த தூதுவன் ஒருவன் இறங்கி வருவதையும் கண்டீர். அவன், ‘இந்த மரத்தை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தி அழித்துப்போடுங்கள்; ஆனால் அதன் அடிமரத்தை இரும்பினாலும், வெண்கலத்தினாலும் கட்டி, புற்தரையில் இருக்கும்படி விடுங்கள். அதன் வேர்களைத் தரையில் விட்டுவிடுங்கள். அவன் ஆகாயத்துப் பனியில் நனையட்டும். அப்படி ஏழு காலங்கள் கடந்துபோகும் வரைக்கும் காட்டு மிருகங்களைப்போல் வாழட்டும் என்றும் சொல்லக்கேட்டீரே.’

24 This is the interpretation of the judgment of the Most High, which has reached my lord, the king.

“அரசே, விளக்கம் இதுவே; அரசனாகிய என் தலைவருக்கு எதிராக மகா உன்னதமானவர் பிறப்பித்த கட்டளை இதுவே:

25 They will expel you from among men, and your dwelling will be with the beasts and the wild animals, and you will eat hay like an ox, and you will be drenched with the dew of heaven. Likewise, seven periods of time will pass over you, until you know that the Supreme One rules over the kingdom of men, and he gives it to whomever he wills.

நீர் மக்கள் மத்தியிலிருந்து துரத்தப்பட்டு, காட்டு மிருகங்களோடு வாழ்வீர். ஆகாயத்துப் பனியில் நனைந்து மாட்டைப்போல் புல்லைத் தின்பீர். மகா உன்னதமானவர் மனிதனுடைய அரசுகளின்மேல் ஆளுபவர் என்பதையும், அவர் விரும்பியவனுக்கே அதைக் கொடுப்பார் என்பதையும் நீர் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்வரைக்கும் ஏழு காலங்கள் உம்மைக் கடந்துபோகும்.

26 But, since he commanded that the stump of its roots, that is, of the tree, should be left behind, your kingdom will be left for you, after you have realized that power is from divinity.

ஆயினும், ‘வேர்களோடு அடிமரத்தை விட்டு வை’ என்ற கட்டளையின் விளக்கம் இதுவே: பரலோகமே ஆளுகை செய்கிறது என்பதை நீர் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்போது, உமது அரசு உமக்கே திரும்பிக் கொடுக்கப்படும்.

27 Because of this, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you. And redeem your sins with alms, and your iniquities with mercy towards the poor. Perhaps he will forgive your offenses.”

ஆகையால் அரசே, தயவுசெய்து நான் சொல்லும் ஆலோசனையைக் கேளும். நியாயமானவற்றைச் செய்து உமது பாவங்களையும், ஒடுக்கப்பட்டோருக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டி உமது கொடுமைகளையும் அகற்றிவிடும். அதனால் ஒருவேளை உமது வளமான வாழ்வு நீடிக்கலாம் என்றான்.”

28 All these things came upon king Nebuchadnezzar.

இவையெல்லாம் நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் அரசனுக்கு நிறைவேறியது.

29 After the end of twelve months, he was taking a walk in the palace of Babylon.

பன்னிரண்டு மாதங்களுக்குப் பின்பு ஒரு நாள் அரசன், பாபிலோனின் அரச அரண்மனை மொட்டைமாடியில் உலாவிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

30 And the king spoke out loud, saying, “Isn’t this the great Babylon, which I have built, as the home of the kingdom, by the strength of my power and in the glory of my excellence?”

அப்பொழுது அரசன், “நான் கட்டிய மாபெரும் பாபிலோன் இது அல்லவா! எனது மிகுந்த வல்லமையினால் எனது மாட்சிமையின் மகிமைக்காக எனது அரச குடியிருப்பாக இதைக் கட்டினேன், என தனக்குள் சொல்லிக்கொண்டான்.”

31 And while the words were still in the king’s mouth, a voice rushed down from heaven, “To you, O king Nebuchadnezzar, it is said: ‘Your kingdom will be taken away from you,

இந்த வார்த்தைகள் அவனுடைய உதட்டில் இன்னும் இருக்கும்போதே பரலோகத்திலிருந்து ஒரு சத்தம் உண்டாகி, “நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் அரசனே, உனக்குத் தீர்ப்பிடப்பட்டது இதுவே: உனது அரச அதிகாரம் உன்னிடமிருந்து இப்பொழுதே பறிக்கப்பட்டுவிடும்.

32 and they will expel you from among men, and your dwelling will be with the beasts and the wild animals. You will eat hay like an ox, and seven times will pass over you, until you know that the Supreme One rules in the kingdom of men, and he gives it to whomever he wills.’”

நீ மனிதரிடமிருந்து துரத்தப்பட்டு, காட்டு மிருகங்களோடு வாழ்வாய். மாடுகளைப்போல் புல்லைத் தின்பாய். மகா உன்னதமானவர், மனிதர்களின் அரசுகளின்மேல் ஆளுபவர் என்பதையும், தாம் விரும்பியவர்களுக்கு அரசாட்சியைக் கொடுப்பவர் என்பதையும் நீ ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்வரைக்கும் ஏழு காலங்கள் கடந்துபோகவேண்டும் என அச்சத்தம் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டான்.”

33 The same hour, the sentence was fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar, and he was driven away from among men, and he ate hay like an ox, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until his hair increased like the feathers of eagles, and his nails like those of birds.

உடனடியாக நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரைப் பற்றிச் சொல்லப்பட்டது நிறைவேறியது. அவன் மனிதரிலிருந்து துரத்தப்பட்டு, மாடுகளைப்போல் புல்லைத் தின்றான். அவனுடைய உடல் ஆகாயத்துப் பனியில் நனைந்து அவனுடைய தலைமயிர் கழுகுகளின் இறகுகளைப்போல் வளர்ந்தது. அவனுடைய நகங்கள் பறவையின் நகங்களைப்போல் வளர்ந்தது.

34 Therefore, at the end of these days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my mind was restored to me. And I blessed the Most High, and I praised and glorified him who lives forever. For his power is an everlasting power, and his kingdom is from generation to generation.

அந்த ஏழு காலம் முடிந்தபின் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாராகிய நான் வானத்தை நோக்கிப் பார்த்தேன். அந்நேரம் எனது சுயபுத்தி எனக்குத் திரும்பவும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது நான் மகா உன்னதமானவரைத் துதித்தேன்.

35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing before him. For he acts according to his own will, with the inhabitants of the earth just as with the holy inhabitants of heaven. And there is no one who can resist his hand, or say to him, “Why have you done this?”

அவர் பூமியின் மக்கள் கூட்டங்களை

36 At the same time, my mind returned to me, and I arrived at the honor and glory of my kingdom. And my appearance was given back to me. And my nobles and my magistrates needed me. And I was restored to my kingdom, and even greater majesty was added to me.

எனக்கு சுயபுத்தி திரும்பவும் வந்தது. அதே நேரத்தில் எனது அரசின் மேன்மைக்காக, எனது கனமும், மகிமையும் எனக்கு மீண்டும் கிடைத்தன. என் ஆலோசகர்களும், உயர்குடி மக்களும் திரும்பவும் என்னைத் தேடிவந்தார்கள். நான் திரும்பவும் அரண்மனையில் அமர்த்தப்பட்டு, முன்பைவிட மேன்மையடைந்தேன்.

37 Therefore I, Nebuchadnezzar, now praise, and magnify, and glorify the King of heaven, because all his works and the judgments of his way are true, and those who go forth in arrogance, he is able to bring low.

இப்பொழுது நேபுகாத்நேச்சாராகிய நான் பரலோக அரசரைத் துதித்து மேன்மைப்படுத்தி, மகிமைப்படுத்துகிறேன். ஏனெனில் அவர் செய்வதெல்லாம் நியாயமும், அவர் வழிகளெல்லாம் நீதியுமானவை; அவர் பெருமையில் நடப்பவர்களைத் தாழ்த்த வல்லவராயிருக்கிறார்.
