Amos 3

1 Listen to the word which the Lord has spoken about you, sons of Israel, concerning the whole family that I led out of the land of Egypt, saying:

Ascultați acest cuvânt pe care DOMNUL l-a vorbit împotriva voastră, copii ai lui Israel, împotriva întregii familii pe care am adus-o din țara Egiptului, spunând:

2 I have known only you in such a way, out of all the families of the earth. For this reason, I will visit upon you all your iniquities.

Doar pe voi v-am cunoscut dintre toate familiile pământului; de aceea vă voi pedepsi pentru toate nelegiuirile voastre.

3 Will two walk together, unless they have agreed to do so?

Pot doi să meargă împreună, fără să se fi învoit?

4 Will a lion roar in the forest, unless he has prey? Will the lion’s young cry out from his den, unless he has taken something?

Va răcni un leu în pădure când nu are pradă? Va striga un leu tânăr din vizuina lui, dacă nu a prins nimic?

5 Will a bird fall into a snare on the ground, if there is no bird-catcher? Will a snare be taken away from the ground, before it has caught something?

Poate o pasăre să cadă într-o cursă pe pământ, când nu este laț pentru ea? Va trage cineva cursa de pe pământ, fără să fi prins nimic?

6 Will the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not become frightened? Will there be disaster in a city, which the Lord has not done?

Se va suna din trâmbiță în cetate fără ca poporul să se teamă? Va fi vreun rău într-o cetate fără ca DOMNUL să îl fi făcut?

7 For the Lord God does not fulfill his word, unless he has revealed his secret to his servants the prophets.

Într-adevăr Domnul DUMNEZEU nu va face nimic fără să își reveleze taina lui servitorilor săi, profeții.

8 The lion will roar, who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken, who will not prophesy?

Leul a răcnit, cine nu se va teme? Domnul DUMNEZEU a vorbit, cine poate să nu profețească?

9 Let it be heard in the buildings of Ashdod and in the buildings of the land of Egypt, and say: Gather together across the mountains of Samaria, and see the many absurdities in its midst, and those who are suffering false accusations in its inner most places.

Vestiți în palatele din Asdod și în palatele din țara Egiptului și spuneți: Adunați-vă pe munții Samariei și priviți marile tumulturi din mijlocul ei și pe cei oprimați din mijlocul ei.

10 And they do not know how to make it right, says the Lord, storing up iniquity and plunder in their buildings.

Fiindcă ei nu știu să lucreze drept, spune DOMNUL, cei care strâng violența și jefuirea în palatele lor.

11 Because of these things, thus says the Lord God: The land will be encircled and squeezed together. And your strength will be drawn away from you, and your buildings will be torn apart.

De aceea astfel spune Domnul DUMNEZEU: Un potrivnic va fi chiar de jur împrejurul țării; și el îți va doborî puterea și palatele tale vor fi prădate.

12 Thus says the Lord: Just as if a shepherd had rescued two legs from the mouth of a lion, or the tip of an ear, so also will the sons of Israel be rescued, who dwell in the sick bed of Samaria, and in the cot of Damascus.

Astfel spune DOMNUL: Precum păstorul scoate din gura leului două picioare sau o bucată dintr-o ureche; tot astfel vor fi scoși, copiii lui Israel, care locuiesc în Samaria în colțul patului și în Damasc pe un divan.

13 Listen and give testimony in the house of Jacob, says the Lord God of hosts:

Ascultați și mărturisiți în casa lui Iacob, spune Domnul DUMNEZEU, Dumnezeul oștirilor:

14 that in the day, when I will begin to visit the betrayals of Israel, I will visit upon him and upon the altars of Bethel. And the horns of the altars will be cut off and will fall to the ground.

Că în ziua în care voi cerceta fărădelegile lui Israel asupra lui, voi cerceta de asemenea altarele din Betel; și coarnele altarului vor fi retezate și vor cădea la pământ.

15 And I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory will perish, and many buildings will be torn apart, says the Lord.

Și voi lovi casa de iarnă împreună cu casa de vară; și casele de fildeș vor pieri și casele mari vor avea sfârșit, spune DOMNUL.
