Amos 2
1 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Moab, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has burned the bones of the king of Idumea, all the way to ashes.
Assim diz o SENHOR: Por três transgressões de Moabe, e pela quarta, não desviarei [seu castigo]; porque queimou os ossos do rei de Edom até os tornar em cal.
2 And I will send a fire onto Moab, and it will devour the buildings of Kerioth. And Moab will die with a noise, with the blare of a trumpet.
Por isso meterei fogo em Moabe, que consumirá os palácios de Queriote; e Moabe morrerá em tumulto, com grito e som de trombeta.
3 And I will destroy the judge in their midst, and I will execute all his leaders with him, says the Lord.
E exterminarei o juiz do meio dele, e matarei a todos seus príncipes com ele, diz o SENHOR.
4 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Judah, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has rejected the law of the Lord and has not kept his commandments. For their idols, which their fathers followed, have deceived them.
Assim diz o SENHOR: Por três transgressões de Judá, e pela quarta, não desviarei [seu castigo]; porque rejeitaram a lei do SENHOR, e não guardaram seus estatutos; e foram enganados por suas mentiras, as quais seus pais seguiam.
5 And I will send a fire onto Judah, and it will devour the buildings of Jerusalem.
Por isso meterei fogo em Judá, que consumirá os palácios de Jerusalém.
6 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Israel, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has sold the just for silver and the poor for shoes.
Assim diz o SENHOR: Por três transgressões de Israel, e pela quarta, não desviarei [seu castigo]; porque vendem o justo em troca de dinheiro, e o pobre por um par de sapatos;
7 They grind the heads of the poor into the dust of the earth, and they divert the way of the humble. And the son, as well as his father, have gone to the same girl, so that they outrage my holy name.
Eles pisam a cabeça dos pobres no pó da terra, e distorcem o caminho dos humildes; um homem e seu pai vão a uma [mesma] moça, para profanarem o meu santo nome.
8 And they have lain on garments taken in pledge next to every altar. And they drank the wine of the damned in the house of their God.
E se deitam junto a qualquer altar com roupas tomadas em penhor, e bebem vinho tomado como multa da casa de seus deuses.
9 Yet I exterminated the Amorites before their face, whose height was like the height of cedars, and whose strength was like the oak. And I crushed his fruit from above and his roots below.
Eu, pelo contrário, destruí diante deles os amorreus, cuja altura era como a altura dos cedros, e eram fortes como carvalhos; e destruí seu fruto acima, e suas raízes abaixo.
10 It is I who caused you to ascend from the land of Egypt, and I led you in the wilderness for forty years, so that you might possess the land of the Amorite.
Também vos fiz a vós subir da terra do Egito, e por quarenta anos vos conduzi pelo deserto, para que possuísseis a terra dos amorreus.
11 And I stirred up prophets from your sons, and Nazirites from your young men. Is it not so, sons of Israel, says the Lord?
E levantei [alguns] de vossos filhos para profetas, e de vossos rapazes para que fossem nazireus. Não é isto assim, filhos de Israel? Diz o SENHOR,
12 Yet you would offer wine to the Nazirites, and you would command the prophets, saying: “Do not prophesy.”
Mas aos nazireus destes de beber vinho; e aos profetas mandastes, dizendo: Não profetizeis.
13 Behold, I will creak under you, just as a wagon creaks that is laden with hay.
Pois eis que eu vos esmagarei em vosso lugar, tal como uma carroça cheia de feixes esmaga;
14 And flight will perish from the swift, and the strong will not maintain his strength, and the healthy will not save his life.
De modo que o veloz não conseguirá escapar, nem o forte conseguirá usar de sua força, nem o guerreiro livrará sua vida;
15 And one holding the bow will not stand firm, and the swift of foot will not be saved, and the rider on the horse will not save his life.
E o que maneja o arco não subsistirá, nem o veloz de pés se livrará, nem o que monta em cavalo livrará sua vida.
16 And the stout of heart among the strong will flee away naked in that day, says the Lord.
O mais corajoso entre os guerreiros fugirá nu naquele dia, diz o SENHOR.
