2 Chronicles 11
1 Then Rehoboam went to Jerusalem, and he called together the entire house of Judah and of Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand elect men of war, so that he might contend against Israel, and turn back his kingdom to himself.
Als aber Rehabeam in Jerusalem angekommen war, bot er den Stamm Juda und Benjamin, 180000 auserlesene Krieger, zum Kampf gegen Israel auf, um das Königtum für Rehabeam wiederzugewinnen.
2 And the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, the man of God, saying:
Aber das Wort des HERRN erging an den Gottesmann Semaja also:
3 “Speak to Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, the king of Judah, and to all of Israel who are of Judah, or of Benjamin:
»Sage zu Rehabeam, dem Sohne Salomos, dem König von Juda, und zu sämtlichen Israeliten in Juda und Benjamin also:
4 Thus says the Lord: You shall not ascend and fight against your brothers. Let each one return to his own house. For it is by my will that this has happened.” And when they had heard the word of the Lord, they turned back, and they did not continue on against Jeroboam.
›So hat der HERR gesprochen: Ihr sollt nicht hinziehen, um mit euren Brüdern Krieg zu führen: kehrt allesamt nach Hause zurück! Denn von mir aus ist dies alles so gefügt worden.« Als sie die Weisung des HERRN vernahmen, kehrten sie um, ohne gegen Jerobeam zu ziehen.
5 Then Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and he built fortified cities in Judah.
So blieb denn Rehabeam in Jerusalem und baute Ortschaften in Juda zu Festungen aus,
6 And he built up Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
und zwar befestigte er Bethlehem, Etam, Thekoa,
7 and also Bethzur, and Soco, and Adullam,
Beth-Zur, Socho, Adullam,
8 indeed also Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
Gath, Maresa, Siph,
9 then too Adoram, and Lachish, and Azekah,
Adoraim, Lachis, Aseka,
10 as well as Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which were very fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.
Zorea, Ajjalon und Hebron, die in Juda und Benjamin lagen; die baute er zu festen Plätzen aus.
11 And when he had enclosed them with walls, he placed in them rulers, and storehouses of provisions, that is, of oil and wine.
Er machte aus ihnen starke Festungen, setzte Befehlshaber über sie und legte Vorräte von Lebensmitteln, von Öl und Wein hinein
12 Moreover, in each city he made an armory of shields and spears, and he strengthened them with the utmost diligence. And he ruled over Judah and Benjamin.
sowie in jeden Platz Schilde und Speere und setzte sie so in vorzüglich festen Stand. So waren denn Juda und Benjamin in seiner Gewalt.
13 Then the priests and Levites, who were in all of Israel, came to him from all their settlements,
Die Priester und Leviten aber im gesamten Israel stellten sich ihm aus allen ihren Bezirken zur Verfügung.
14 leaving behind their suburbs and possessions, and crossing over to Judah and to Jerusalem. For Jeroboam and his followers had cast them out, so that they could not exercise the priestly office to the Lord.
Die Leviten verließen nämlich ihre Wohnorte und ihr Besitztum und begaben sich nach Juda und Jerusalem, weil Jerobeam samt seinen Söhnen sie ihres Amtes als Priester des HERRN entsetzt
15 And he appointed for himself priests of high places, and of demons, and of calves that he had made.
und er sich eigene Priester für den Höhendienst sowie für die Feldteufel und die Stierbilder bestellt hatte, die er hatte anfertigen lassen.
16 Moreover, out of all the tribes of Israel, whosoever would give their heart so that they sought the Lord God of Israel, they went to Jerusalem to immolate their victims before the Lord, the God of their fathers.
Ihrem Vorgange folgend, kamen dann aus allen Stämmen Israels diejenigen, welche aufrichtig darauf bedacht waren, den HERRN, den Gott Israels, zu suchen, nach Jerusalem, um dem HERRN, dem Gott ihrer Väter, zu opfern.
17 And they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and they confirmed Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, for three years. For they walked in the ways of David and of Solomon, but only for three years.
Diese stärkten das Reich Juda und befestigten Rehabeam, den Sohn Salomos, in der Herrschaft drei Jahre lang; denn drei Jahre lang wandelten sie auf dem Wege Davids und Salomos.
18 Then Rehoboam took as wife Mahalath, the daughter of Jerimoth, son of David, and also Abihail, the daughter of Eliab, son of Jesse.
Rehabeam war aber mit Mahalath, einer Tochter Jerimoths, des Sohnes Davids, und der Abihail, der Tochter Eliabs, des Sohnes Isais, verheiratet;
19 They bore sons for him: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
die gebar ihm Söhne, nämlich Jehus, Semarja und Saham.
20 And also after her, he married Maacah, the daughter of Absalom, who bore for him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Nach ihr verheiratete er sich mit Maacha, der Tochter Absaloms, die ihm Abia, Atthai, Sisa und Selomith gebar.
21 But Rehoboam loved Maacah, the daughter of Absalom, above all his wives and concubines. For he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines. And he conceived twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
Rehabeam hatte aber Maacha, die Tochter Absaloms, lieber als alle seine anderen Frauen und Nebenweiber; er hatte sich nämlich achtzehn Frauen und sechzig Nebenweiber genommen, von denen ihm achtundzwanzig Söhne und sechzig Töchter geboren wurden.
22 Truly, he appointed as the head, Abijah, the son of Maacah, to be the ruler over all his brothers. For he thought to make him king,
Rehabeam setzte dann Abia, den Sohn der Maacha, zum Familienhaupt, zum Fürsten unter seinen Brüdern, ein; denn es war seine Absicht, ihn zum König zu machen.
23 since he was wiser and more powerful than all his sons, even in all the regions of Judah and Benjamin, and in all the fortified cities. And he provided them with very much food, and he sought many wives.
Dabei ging er klug zu Werke, indem er alle seine Söhne auf die einzelnen Landesteile von Juda und Benjamin und auf alle festen Plätze verteilte und ihnen ein reichliches Auskommen zuwies und Frauen in Menge für sie warb.
