< Psalms 86 >
1 A Prayer of David. O Lord, incline your ear, and listen to me; for I am poor and needy.
Bow down thine ear, O Jehovah, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my soul, for I am holy; save your servant, O God, who hopes in you.
Preserve my soul, for I am devout. O thou my God, save thy servant who trusts in thee.
3 Pity me, O Lord: for to you will I cry all the day.
Be merciful to me, O Lord, for to thee do I cry all the day long.
4 Rejoice the sold of your servant: for to you, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.
Rejoice the soul of thy servant, for to thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For you, O Lord, are kind, and gentle; and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon you.
For thou, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in loving kindness to all those who call upon thee.
6 Give ear to my prayer, o Lord; and attend to the voice of my supplication.
Give ear, O Jehovah, to my prayer, and hearken to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I cried to you: for you did hear me.
In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee, for thou will answer me.
8 There is none like to you, O Lord, amongst the god; and there are no [works] like to your works.
There is none like thee among the gods, O Lord, nor like thy works.
9 All nations whom you have made shall come, and shall worship before you, O Lord; and shall glorify your name.
All nations whom thou have made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord, and they shall glorify thy name.
10 For you are great, and do wonders: you are the only [and] the great God.
For thou are great, and do wondrous things. Thou alone are God.
11 Guide me, O Lord, in your way, and I will walk in your truth: let my heart rejoice, that I may fear your name.
Teach me thy way, O Jehovah, I will walk in thy truth. Unite my heart to fear thy name.
12 I will give you thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify your name for ever.
I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify thy name for evermore.
13 For your mercy is great towards me; and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell. (Sheol )
For great is thy loving kindness toward me, and thou have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol. (Sheol )
14 O God, transgressors have risen up against me, and an assembly of violent [men] have sought my life; and have not set you before them.
O God, the proud have risen up against me, and a company of violent men have sought after my soul, and have not set thee before them.
15 But you, O Lord God, are compassionate and merciful, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and true.
But thou, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.
16 Look you upon me, and have mercy upon me: give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your handmaid.
O turn to me, and have mercy upon me. Give thy strength to thy servant, and save the son of thy handmaid.
17 Establish with me a token for good; and let them that hate me see [it] and be ashamed; because you, O Lord, have helped me, and comforted me.
Show me a sign for good, that those who hate me may see it, and be put to shame, because thou, Jehovah, have helped me, and comforted me.
