< Psalms 76 >
1 For the end, amongst the Hymns, a Psalm for Asaph; a Song for the Assyrian. God is known in Judea: his name is great in Israel.
Ki te tino kaiwhakatangi. Nekinoto. He himene, he waiata na Ahapa. E matauria ana te Atua i roto i a Hura, he nui tona ingoa i roto i a Iharaira.
2 And his place has been in peace, and his dwelling-place in Sion.
Kei Harema hoki tona tapenakara; kei Hiona tona nohoanga.
3 There he broke the power of the bows, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Pause)
I whati i a ia i reira nga pere o te kopere, te whakangungu rakau, te hoari, me nga mea mo te whawhai. (Hera)
4 You do wonderfully shine forth from the everlasting mountains.
Tera atu tou kororia, tou nui, i to nga maunga kirehe.
5 All the simple ones in heart were troubled; all the men of wealth have slept their sleep, and have found nothing in their hands.
Kua pahuatia te hunga ngakau toa, moe ana ratou i ta ratou moe; kihai ano i whai ringa tetahi o nga marohirohi.
6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, the riders on horses slumbered.
Na tau whakatupehupehu, e te Atua o Hakopa, i parangia ai te hariata me te hoiho e te moe.
7 You are terrible; and who shall withstand you, because of your anger?
Ko koe, ina, ko koe e wehingia; ko wai hoki e tu ki tou aroaro ina riri koe?
8 You did cause judgement to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
Nau i rangona iho ai te whakawa i te rangi: wehi ana te whenua, whakaririka kau ana,
9 when God arose to judgement, to save all the meek in heart. (Pause)
I te aranga ake o te Atua ki te whakawa, ki te whakaora i te hunga mahaki katoa o te whenua. (Hera)
10 For the inward thought of man shall give thanks to you: and the memorial of his inward thought shall keep a feast to you.
He pono ka whai kororia koe i te riri o te tangata: mau ano e whitiki te toenga o te riri.
11 Vow, and pay [your vows] to the Lord our God; all that are round about him shall bring gifts, [even] to him that is terrible,
Whakapuakina te kupu taurangi ki a Ihowa, ki to koutou Atua, whakamana hoki; e te hunga katoa i tetahi taha ona, i tetahi taha, mauria he hakari ki a ia, ka tika hoki te wehi ki a ia.
12 and that takes away the spirits of princes; to him that is terrible amongst the kings of the earth.
Mana e poro atu te wairua o nga rangatira: e matakuria ana ia e nga kingi o te whenua.
