Psalms 62
1 For the end, a Psalm of David for Idithun. Shall not my soul be subjected to God? for of him is my salvation.
Dem Vorsänger; für [O. nach] Jeduthun. Ein Psalm von David. Nur auf Gott vertraut still meine Seele, von ihm kommt meine Rettung.
2 For he is my God, and my saviour; my helper, I shall not be moved very much.
Nur er ist mein Fels und meine Rettung, meine hohe Feste; ich werde nicht viel wanken.
3 How long will you assault a man? you are all slaughtering as with a bowed wall and a broken hedge.
Bis wann wollt ihr gegen einen Mann anstürmen? ihr alle ihn niederreißen wie eine überhängende Wand, eine angestoßene Mauer?
4 They only took counsel to set at nothing mine honour: I ran in thirst: with their mouth they blessed, but with their heart they cursed. (Pause)
Sie ratschlagen nur, ihn von seiner Höhe zu stoßen; sie haben Wohlgefallen an der Lüge; mit ihrem Munde segnen sie, und in ihrem Innern fluchen sie. (Sela)
5 Nevertheless do you, my soul, be subjected to God; for of him [is] my patient hope.
Nur auf Gott vertraue still meine Seele! denn von ihm kommt meine Erwartung.
6 For he [is] my God and my Saviour; my helper, I shall not be moved.
Nur er ist mein Fels und meine Rettung, meine hohe Feste; ich werde nicht wanken.
7 In God [is] my salvation and my glory: [he is] the God of my help, and my hope is in God.
Auf Gott ruht mein Heil und meine Herrlichkeit; der Fels meiner Stärke, meine Zuflucht, ist in Gott.
8 Hope in him, all you congregation of the people; pour out your hearts before him, for God is our helper. (Pause)
Vertrauet auf ihn allezeit, o Volk! schüttet vor ihm aus euer Herz! Gott ist unsere Zuflucht. (Sela)
9 But the sons of men are vain; the sons of men are false, so as to be deceitful in the balances; they are all alike [formed] out of vanity.
Nur Eitelkeit [O. ein Hauch; dasselbe Wort wie am Ende des Verses] sind die Menschensöhne, Lüge die Männersöhne. Auf der Waagschale steigen sie empor, sie sind allesamt leichter als ein Hauch. [And. üb.: sie sind allesamt ein Hauch]
10 Trust not in unrighteousness, and lust not after robberies: if wealth should flow in, set not your heart upon it.
Vertrauet nicht auf Erpressung, und setzet nicht eitle Hoffnung auf Raub; [Eig. werdet nicht betört durch Raub] wenn der Reichtum wächst, so setzet euer Herz nicht darauf!
11 God has spoken once, [and] I have heard these two things, that power is of God;
Einmal hat Gott geredet, zweimal habe ich dieses gehört, daß die Stärke Gottes sei.
12 and mercy is your, O Lord; for you will recompense every one according to his works.
Und dein, o Herr, ist die Güte; denn du, du vergiltst einem jeden nach seinem Werke.
