Psalms 48
1 A Psalm of praise for the sons of Core on the second [day] of the week. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
Ein Lied, ein Psalm. Von den Söhnen Korahs. Groß ist Jehova und sehr zu loben in der Stadt unseres Gottes auf seinem heiligen Berge.
2 The city of the great King is well planted [on] the mountains of Sion, with the joy of the whole earth, [on] the sides of the north.
Schön ragt empor, eine Freude der ganzen Erde, der Berg Zion, an der Nordseite, die Stadt des großen Königs.
3 God is known in her palaces, when he undertakes to help her.
Gott ist bekannt in ihren Palästen als eine hohe Feste.
4 For, behold the kings of the earth were assembled, they came together.
Denn siehe, die Könige hatten sich versammelt, waren herangezogen allesamt.
5 They saw, and so they wondered: they were troubled, they were moved.
Sie sahen, da erstaunten sie; sie wurden bestürzt, flohen ängstlich hinweg.
6 Trembling took hold on them: there were the pangs as of a woman in travail.
Beben ergriff sie daselbst, Angst, der Gebärenden gleich.
7 You will break the ships of Tharsis with a vehement wind.
Durch den Ostwind zertrümmertest du die Tarsisschiffe.
8 As we have heard, so have we also seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God has founded it for ever. (Pause)
Wie wir gehört hatten, also haben wir es gesehen in der Stadt Jehovas der Heerscharen, in der Stadt unseres Gottes: Gott wird sie befestigen bis in Ewigkeit. (Sela)
9 We have thought of your mercy, O God, in the midst of your people.
Wir haben gedacht, o Gott, an deine Güte, im Innern deines Tempels.
10 According to your name, O God, so is also your praise to the ends of the earth: your right hand is full of righteousness.
Wie dein Name, Gott, also ist dein Lob bis an die Enden der Erde; mit Gerechtigkeit ist gefüllt deine Rechte.
11 Let mount Sion rejoice, let the daughters of Judaea exult, because of your judgements, O Lord.
Es freue sich der Berg Zion, es mögen frohlocken die Töchter Judas um deiner Gerichte willen!
12 Go round about Sion, and encompass her: tell you her towers.
Umgehet Zion und umkreiset es, zählet seine Türme;
13 Mark you well her strength, and observe her palaces; that you may tell the next generation.
betrachtet genau seine Wälle, mustert seine Paläste, damit ihr's erzählet dem künftigen Geschlecht!
14 For this is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide for evermore.
Denn dieser Gott ist unser Gott immer und ewiglich! Er wird uns leiten bis an den Tod.
