< Psalms 45 >

1 For the end, for alternate [strains] by the sons of Core; for instruction, a Song concerning the beloved. My heart has uttered a good matter: I declare my works to the king: my tongue is the pen of a quick writer.
in finem pro his qui commutabuntur filiis Core ad intellectum canticum pro dilecto eructavit cor meum verbum bonum dico ego opera mea regi lingua mea calamus scribae velociter scribentis
2 You are more beautiful than the sons of men: grace has been shed forth on your lips: therefore God has blessed you for ever.
speciosus forma prae filiis hominum diffusa est gratia in labiis tuis propterea benedixit te Deus in aeternum
3 Gird your sword upon your thigh, O Mighty One, in your comeliness, and in your beauty;
accingere gladio tuo super femur tuum potentissime
4 and bend [your bow], and prosper, and reign, because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and your right hand shall guide you wonderfully.
specie tua et pulchritudine tua et intende prospere procede et regna propter veritatem et mansuetudinem et iustitiam et deducet te mirabiliter dextera tua
5 Your weapons are sharpened, Mighty One, (the nations shall fall under you) [they are] in the heart of the king's enemies.
sagittae tuae acutae populi sub te cadent in corde inimicorum regis
6 Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of your kingdom is a sceptre of righteousness.
sedis tua Deus in saeculum saeculi virga directionis virga regni tui
7 You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity: therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your fellows.
dilexisti iustitiam et odisti iniquitatem propterea unxit te Deus Deus tuus oleo laetitiae prae consortibus tuis
8 Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia [are exhaled] from your garments, [and] out of the ivory palaces,
murra et gutta et cassia a vestimentis tuis a domibus eburneis ex quibus delectaverunt te
9 with which kings' daughters have gladdened you for your honour: the queen stood by on your right hand, clothed in vesture wrought with gold, [and] arrayed in various colours.
filiae regum in honore tuo adstetit regina a dextris tuis in vestitu deaurato circumdata varietate
10 Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline your ear; forget also your people, and your father's house.
audi filia et vide et inclina aurem tuam et obliviscere populum tuum et domum patris tui
11 Because the king has desired your beauty; for he is your Lord.
et concupiscet rex decorem tuum quoniam ipse est dominus tuus et adorabunt eum
12 And the daughter of Tyre shall adore him with gifts; the rich of the people of the land shall supplicate your favour.
et; filiae Tyri in muneribus vultum tuum deprecabuntur divites plebis
13 All her glory [is that] of the daughter of the king of Esebon, robed [as she is] in golden fringed garments,
omnis gloria eius filiae regis ab intus in fimbriis aureis
14 in embroidered [clothing]: virgins shall be brought to the king after her: her fellows shall be brought to you.
circumamicta varietatibus adducentur regi virgines post eam proximae eius adferentur tibi
15 They shall be brought with gladness and exultation: they shall be led into the king's temple.
adferentur in laetitia et exultatione adducentur in templum regis
16 Instead of your fathers children are born to you: you shall make them princes over all the earth.
pro patribus tuis nati sunt tibi filii constitues eos principes super omnem terram
17 They shall make mention of your name from generation to generation: therefore shall the nations give thanks to you for ever, even for ever and ever.
memor ero nominis tui in omni generatione et generatione propterea populi confitebuntur tibi in aeternum et in saeculum saeculi
