Psalms 44
1 For the end, a Psalm for instruction, for the sons of Core. O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, the work which you wrought in their days, in the days of old.
Dem Musikmeister. Von den Korachiten, ein Maskil. Gott, mit unseren Ohren haben wir gehört, unsere Väter haben uns erzählt: Ein großes Werk hast du in ihren Tagen ausgeführt, in den Tagen der Vorzeit.
2 Your hand utterly destroyed the heathen, and you did plant them: you did afflict the nations, and cast them out.
Mit deiner Hand vertriebst du Völker und pflanztest sie ein; du behandeltest Nationen übel, aber sie breitetest du aus.
3 For they inherited not the land by their [own] sword, and their [own] arm did not deliver them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, because you were well pleased in them.
Denn nicht durch ihr Schwert haben sie das Land in Besitz genommen und nicht ihr Arm schaffte ihnen Sieg, sondern deine Rechte und dein Arm und das Licht deines Angesichts, denn du hattest an ihnen Wohlgefallen.
4 You are indeed my King and my God, who command deliverances for Jacob.
Du bist ja mein König, o Gott: entbiete Hilfe für Jakob!
5 In you will we push down our enemies, and in your name will we bring to nothing them that rise up against us.
Durch dich stoßen wir unsere Bedränger nieder und durch deinen Namen zertreten wir unsere Widersacher.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, and my sword shall not save me.
Denn ich verlasse mich nicht auf meinen Bogen, und mein Schwert schafft mir nicht Sieg.
7 For you have saved us from them that afflicted us, and have put to shame them that hated us.
Sondern du schaffst uns Sieg über unsere Bedränger und machst zu Schanden, die uns hassen.
8 In God will we make our boast all the day, and to your name will we give thanks for ever. (Pause)
Gottes rühmten wir uns allezeit und preisen immerdar deinen Namen. (Sela)
9 But now you have cast off, and put us to shame; and you will not go forth with our hosts.
Und doch hast du uns verworfen und ließest uns in Schmach fallen und ziehst nicht mehr aus mit unseren Heeren.
10 You have turned us back before our enemies; and they that hated us spoiled for themselves.
Du lässest uns zurückweichen vor dem Bedränger, und die uns hassen, haben sich Beute gemacht.
11 You made us as sheep for meat; and you scattered us amongst the nations.
Du gabst uns hin wie Schafe zum Verzehren und zerstreutest uns unter die Heiden.
12 You have sold your people without price, and there was no profit by their exchange.
Du verkauftest dein Volk um ein Spottgeld und gewannst nichts durch ihren Kaufpreis.
13 You have made us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision them that are round about us.
Du machst uns zur Schmach bei unseren Nachbarn, zum Spott und Hohn bei unserer Umgebung.
14 You have made us a proverb amongst the Gentiles, a shaking of the head amongst the nations.
Du machst uns zum Sprichwort unter den Heiden, und daß die Völker über uns den Kopf schütteln.
15 All the day my shame is before me, and the confusion of my face has covered me,
Meine Schmach steht mir immerfort vor Augen, und die Schande, die mir widerfahren, bedeckt mich,
16 because of the voice of the slanderer and reviler; because of the enemy and avenger.
daß ich die Schänder und Lästerer hören und die Feinde und Rachgierigen sehen muß.
17 All these things are come upon us: but we have not forgotten you, neither have we dealt unrighteously in your covenant.
Dies alles ist über uns gekommen, obschon wir deiner nicht vergessen, noch deinem Bunde die Treue gebrochen hatten.
18 And our heart has not gone back; but you have turned aside our paths from your way.
Unser Herz ist nicht zurückgewichen, noch bog unser Schritt ab von deinem Pfade,
19 For you have laid us low in a place of affliction, and the shadow of death has covered us.
daß du uns an der Stätte der Schakale zermalmt und uns mit Finsternis bedeckt hast.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, and if we have spread out our hands to a strange god; shall not God search these things out?
Wenn wir des Namens unseres Gottes vergessen und unsere Hände ausgestreckt hätten zu einem fremden Gotte,
21 for he knows the secrets of the heart.
würde Gott das nicht erforschen? Er kennt ja die Geheimnisse des Herzens!
22 For, for your sake we are killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for slaughter.
Nein, um deinetwillen werden wir immerfort dahingewürgt, werden geachtet wie Schlachtschafe!
23 Awake, therefore sleep you, O Lord? arise, and do not cast [us] off for ever.
Wache auf! Warum schläfst du, Herr? Erwache, verwirf nicht für immer!
24 Therefore turn you your face away, [and] forget our poverty and our affliction?
Warum verbirgst du dein Antlitz, vergissest unseres Elends und unserer Drangsal?
25 For our soul has been brought down to the dust; our belly has cleaved to the earth.
Denn unsere Seele ist bis zum Staube gebeugt, es klebt am Boden unser Leib.
26 Arise, O Lord, help us, and redeem us for your name's sake.
Mache dich auf, uns zu helfen, und erlöse uns um deiner Gnade willen!
