Psalms 40
1 For the end, a Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the Lord; and he attended to me, and listened to my supplication.
Salmo de Davi, para o regente: Esperei com esperança no SENHOR, e ele se inclinou a mim, e ouviu o meu clamor.
2 And he brought me up out of a pit of misery, and from miry clay: and he set my feet on a rock, and ordered my goings aright.
Ele me tirou de uma cova de tormento, de um lamaceiro de barro; e pôs os meus pés sobre uma rocha; ele firmou meus passos.
3 And he put a new song into my mouth, [even] a hymn to our God: many shall see [it], and fear, and shall hope in the Lord.
E pôs em minha boca uma canção nova, um louvor para nosso Deus: muitos [o] verão, e temerão, e confiarão no SENHOR.
4 Blessed [is] the man whose hope is in the name of the Lord, and [who] has not regarded vanities and false frenzies.
Bem-aventurado [é] o homem que põe no SENHOR sua confiança; e não dá atenção aos arrogantes e aos que caminham em direção à mentira.
5 O Lord my God, you have multiplied your wonderful works, and in your thoughts there is none who shall be likened to you: I declared and spoke [of them]: they exceeded number.
Tu, SENHOR meu Deus, multiplicaste para conosco tuas maravilhas e teus planos; eles não podem ser contados em ordem diante de ti; se eu [tentasse] contá-los e falá-los, eles são muito mais do que incontáveis.
6 Sacrifice and offering you would not; but a body have you prepared me: whole burnt offering and [sacrifice] for sin you did not require.
Tu não te agradaste de sacrifício e oferta; [porém] tu me furaste as orelhas; tu não pediste nem holocausto nem oferta de expiação do pecado.
7 Then I said, Behold, I come: in the volume of the book it is written concerning me,
Então eu disse: Eis que venho; no rolo do livro está escrito sobre mim.
8 I desired to do your will, O my God, and your law in the midst of mine heart.
Meu Deus, eu desejo fazer a tua vontade; e tua Lei está no meio dos meus sentimentos.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; behold! I will not refrain my lips; O Lord, you know my righteousness.
Eu anuncio a justiça na grande congregação; eis que não retenho meus lábios; tu, SENHOR sabes [disso].
10 I have not hid your truth within my heart, and I have declared your salvation; I have not hid your mercy and your truth from the great congregation.
Eu não escondo tua justiça no meio de meu coração; eu declaro tua fidelidade e tua salvação; não escondo tua bondade e tua verdade na grande congregação.
11 But you, Lord, remove not your compassion far from me; your mercy and your truth have helped me continually.
Tu, SENHOR, não detenhas para comigo tuas misericórdias; tua bondade e tua fidelidade me guardem continuamente.
12 For innumerable evils have encompassed me; my transgressions have taken hold of me, and I could not see; they are multiplied more than the hairs of my head; and my heart has failed me.
Porque inúmeros males me cercaram; minhas maldades me prenderam, e eu não pude as ver; elas são muito mais do que os cabelos de minha cabeça, e meu coração me desamparou.
13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; O Lord, draw near to help me.
Seja agradável para ti, SENHOR, tu me livrares; SENHOR, apressa-te ao meu socorro.
14 Let those that seek my soul, to destroy it, be ashamed and confounded together; let those that wish me evil be turned backward and put to shame.
Envergonhem-se, e sejam juntamente humilhados os que buscam a minha alma para a destruírem; tornem-se para trás e sejam envergonhados os que querem o meu mal.
15 Let those that say to me, Aha, aha, quickly receive shame for their reward.
Sejam eles assolados como pagamento de sua humilhação, os que dizem de mim: “Ha-ha!”
16 Let all those that seek you, O Lord, exult and rejoice in you; and let them that love your salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.
Fiquem contentes e se alegrem-se em ti todos aqueles que te buscam; digam continuamente os que amam tua salvação: Engrandecido seja o SENHOR!
17 But I am poor and needy; the Lord will take care of me; you are my helper, and my defender, O my God, delay not.
E eu [estou] miserável e necessitado; [mas] o SENHOR cuida de mim; tu [és] meu socorro e meu libertador; Deus meu, não demores.
