< Psalms 16 >
1 A writing of David. Keep me, O Lord; for I have hoped in you.
He Mikitama na Rawiri. Tiakina ahau, e te Atua: e whakawhirinaki nei hoki ahau ki a koe.
2 I said to the Lord, You are my Lord; for you has no need of my goodness.
Kua mea ahau ki a Ihowa, Ko koe toku Ariki, kahore oku pai i tua atu i a koe.
3 On behalf of the saints that are in his land, he has magnified all his pleasure in them.
Ko te hunga tapu i runga i te whenua, te hunga pai rawa, kua ahau katoa toku ahuareka ki a ratou.
4 Their weaknesses have been multiplied; afterward they hasted. I will by no means assemble their bloody meetings, neither will I make mention of their names with my lips.
Ka whakanuia nga mamae o te hunga e whakawhiti ana i a Ihowa mo tetahi atua ke: e kore e ringihia e ahau a ratou ringihanga toto, e kore ano o ratou ingoa e whakahuatia e oku ngutu.
5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: you are he that restores my inheritance to me.
Ko Ihowa te wahi i wehea mai moku, taku kapu hoki: ko koe te kaiwhakapumau i te wahanga maku.
6 The lines have fallen to me in the best places, yes, I have a most excellent heritage.
Kua takoto oku aho ki nga wahi ahuareka, ina, he wahi pai toku.
7 I will bless the Lord who has instructed me; my reins too have chastened me even till night.
Ka whakapaingia e ahau a Ihowa, i whakamahara nei i ahau: ka whakaako ano hoki oku whatumanawa i ahau i te po.
8 I foresaw the Lord always before my face; for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved.
Kua waiho tonu e ahau a Ihowa ki toku aroaro: kei toku ringa matau nei ia, e kore ahau e whakakorikoria.
9 Therefore my heart rejoiced an my tongue exulted; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Koia i koa ai toku ngakau, i whakamanamana ai toku kororia, i takoto tumanako ai ano oku kikokiko.
10 because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption. (Sheol )
No te mea e kore e waiho e koe toku wairua i te reinga, e kore e tukua tau Mea Tapu kia kite i te pirau. (Sheol )
11 You have made known to me the ways of life; you will fill me with joy with your countenance: at your right hand [there are] delights for ever.
Ka whakakitea mai e koe ki ahau te huarahi o te ora; kei tou aroaro te hari nui, kei tou matau nga ahuareka e kore e mutu.
