< Psalms 116 >

1 Alleluia. I am well pleased, because the Lord will listen to the voice of my supplication.
E aroha ana ahau ki a Ihowa: mona i whakarongo ki toku reo, ki aku inoi.
2 Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore will I call upon him while I live.
I tahuri mai tona taringa ki ahau: mo reira ka karanga ahau ki a ia i ahau e ora ana.
3 The pangs of death compassed me; the dangers of hell found me: I found affliction and sorrow. (Sheol h7585)
I karapotia ahau e nga whakawiringa a te mate: mau pu ahau i nga mamae o te reinga, i kite ahau i te pawera, i te pouri. (Sheol h7585)
4 Then I called on the name of the Lord: O Lord, deliver my soul.
5 The Lord is merciful and righteous; yes, our God has pity.
He atawhai a Ihowa, he tika: ae, he aroha to tatou Atua.
6 The Lord preserves the simple: I was brought low, and he delivered me.
E tiakina ana e Ihowa te hunga kuware: i whakaititia ahau, a nana ahau i whakaora.
7 Return to your rest, O my soul; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
E hoki, e toku wairua, ki tou okiokinga; kua atawhaitia hoki koe e Ihowa.
8 For he has delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
Nau hoki toku wairua i whakaora kei mate, oku kanohi kei whai roimata, oku waewae kei paheke.
9 I shall be well-pleasing before the Lord in the land of the living.
Tera ahau e haereere i te aroaro o Ihowa i te whenua o te ora.
10 Alleluia. I believed, therefore I have spoken: but I was greatly afflicted.
I whakapono ahau, koia ahau i korero ai: he nui toku whakawhiunga.
11 And I said in mine amazement, Every man is a liar.
I mea ahau i toku ohoreretanga, He teka kau nga tangata katoa.
12 What shall I render to the Lord for all the things wherein he has rewarded me?
He aha taku e whakahoki ai ki a Ihowa mo ana atawhainga katoa i ahau?
13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord, in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
16 O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid: you have burst by bonds asunder.
E Ihowa, he pono ko ahau tau pononga; ko ahau tau pononga, ko te tama a tau pononga wahine; nau i wewete oku here.
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of praise, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord, in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the Lord's house, in the midst of you, Jerusalem.
Whakamoemititia a Ihowa.
