< Psalms 116 >
1 Alleluia. I am well pleased, because the Lord will listen to the voice of my supplication.
alleluia dilexi quoniam exaudiet Dominus vocem orationis meae
2 Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore will I call upon him while I live.
quia inclinavit aurem suam mihi et in diebus meis invocabo te
3 The pangs of death compassed me; the dangers of hell found me: I found affliction and sorrow. (Sheol )
circumdederunt me dolores mortis pericula inferni invenerunt me tribulationem et dolorem inveni (Sheol )
4 Then I called on the name of the Lord: O Lord, deliver my soul.
et nomen Domini invocavi o Domine libera animam meam
5 The Lord is merciful and righteous; yes, our God has pity.
misericors Dominus et iustus et Deus noster miseretur
6 The Lord preserves the simple: I was brought low, and he delivered me.
custodiens parvulos Dominus humiliatus sum et liberavit me
7 Return to your rest, O my soul; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
convertere anima mea in requiem tuam quia Dominus benefecit tibi
8 For he has delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
quia eripuit animam meam de morte oculos meos a lacrimis pedes meos a lapsu
9 I shall be well-pleasing before the Lord in the land of the living.
placebo Domino in regione vivorum
10 Alleluia. I believed, therefore I have spoken: but I was greatly afflicted.
alleluia credidi propter quod locutus sum ego autem humiliatus sum nimis
11 And I said in mine amazement, Every man is a liar.
ego dixi in excessu meo omnis homo mendax
12 What shall I render to the Lord for all the things wherein he has rewarded me?
quid retribuam Domino pro omnibus quae retribuit mihi
13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.
calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen Domini invocabo
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord, in the presence of all his people.
vota mea Domino reddam coram omni populo eius
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
pretiosa in conspectu Domini mors sanctorum eius
16 O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid: you have burst by bonds asunder.
o Domine quia ego servus tuus ego servus tuus et filius ancillae tuae disrupisti vincula mea
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of praise, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
tibi sacrificabo hostiam laudis et in nomine Domini invocabo
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord, in the presence of all his people,
vota mea Domino reddam in conspectu omnis populi eius
19 in the courts of the Lord's house, in the midst of you, Jerusalem.
in atriis domus Domini in medio tui Hierusalem
