< Psalms 114 >

1 Alleluia. At the going forth of Israel from Egypt, of the house of Jacob from a barbarous people,
Als Israel Ägypten und Jakobs Haus das fremde Volk verließ,
2 Judea became his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.
da ward Juda sein Heiligtum und Israel sein Reich.
3 The sea saw and fled: Jordan was turned back.
Dies sah das Meer und floh; der Jordan ging zurück.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the hills like lambs.
Die Berge hüpften gleich den Widdern, die Hügel wie die Lämmer. -
5 What [ailed] you, O sea, that you fled? and you Jordan, that you were turned back?
Was ist dir, Meer? Du fliehst. Was, Jordan, dir? Du gehst zurück.
6 [You] mountains, that you skipped like rams, and [you] hills, like lambs?
Euch Bergen, daß ihr gleich den Widdern, euch Hügeln, daß ihr gleich den Lämmern hüpfet; -
7 The earth trembled at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
Erbebe, Erde, vor dem Herrn, vor Jakobs Gott,
8 who turned the rock into pools of water, and the flint into fountains of water.
der Fels in See und Kies in Quellgrund wandelt!
