Proverbs 1
1 The Proverbs of Solomon son of David, who reigned in Israel;
Sprüche Salomos, des Sohnes Davids, des Königs von Israel,
2 to know wisdom and instruction, and to perceive words of understanding;
daß man Weisheit und Zucht begreife, Verständnis gewinne verständiger Reden,
3 to receive also hard saying, and to understand true justice, and [how] to direct judgement;
daß man Zucht annehme, welche klug macht, Gerechtigkeit und Sinn für das Rechte und Geradheit,
4 that he might give subtlety to the simple, and to the young man discernment and understanding.
daß den Unerfahrenen Gescheidheit zu teil werde, dem Jüngling Erkenntnis und Umsicht, -
5 For by the hearing of these a wise man will be wiser, and man of understanding will gain direction;
durch Hören mehrt der Weise sein Wissen, und gewinnt, wer verständig ist, den rechten Weg -
6 and will understand a parable, and a dark speech; the saying of the wise also, and riddles.
daß man Rede in Sprüchen und Bildern verstehe, die Worte von Weisen und ihre Rätsel.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and [there is] good understanding to all that practise it: and piety towards God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will set at nothing wisdom and instruction.
Die Furcht Jahwes ist der Anfang der Erkenntnis; Weisheit und Zucht wird von den Narren verachtet.
8 Hear, [my] son, the instruction of your father, and reject not the rules of your mother.
Gehorche, mein Sohn, der Zucht deines Vaters und verwirf nicht die Weisung deiner Mutter!
9 For you shall receive for your head a crown of graces, and a chain of gold round your neck.
Denn ein lieblicher Kranz sind sie für dein Haupt, und ein Kettenschmuck an deinem Halse.
10 [My] son, let not ungodly men lead you astray, neither consent you [to them].
Mein Sohn, wenn dich die bösen Buben locken, so folge nicht.
11 If they should exhort you, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth:
Wenn sie sagen: Gehe mit uns! Wir wollen auf Blut lauern, dem Unschuldigen ohne Ursache nachstellen;
12 and let us swallow him alive, as Hades [would], and remove the memorial of him from the earth: (Sheol h7585)
wir wollen sie wie die Unterwelt lebendig verschlingen und die Schuldlosen gleich denen, die in die Grube hinabfahren. (Sheol h7585)
13 let us seize on his valuable property, and let us fill our houses with spoils:
Allerlei kostbares Gut wollen wir gewinnen, wollen unsere Häuser mit Raube füllen.
14 but do you cast in your lot with us, and let us all provide a common purse, and let us have one pouch:
Du sollst gleichen Anteil mit uns haben; wir alle wollen einen Beutel führen! -
15 go not in the way with them, but turn aside your foot from their paths:
mein Sohn, so wandle nicht des Wegs mit ihnen, halte deinen Fuß von ihrem Pfade zurück.
16 [For their feet run to do evil, and are swift to shed blood. ]
Denn ihre Füße laufen zum Bösen und eilen, Blut zu vergießen.
17 for nets are not without cause spread for birds.
Denn vergeblich ist das Netz ausgespannt vor den Augen aller Geflügelten.
18 For they that are concerned in murder store up evils for themselves; and the overthrow of transgressors is evil.
Jene aber lauern auf ihr eigenes Blut, stellen ihrem eigenen Leben nach.
19 These are the ways of all that perform lawless deeds; for by ungodliness they destroy their own life.
Also ergeht es allen, die nach ungerechtem Gewinne trachten, daß ihr Trachten ihnen das Leben nimmt.
20 Wisdom sings aloud in passages, and in the broad places speaks boldly.
Der Weisheit Rufe ertönen auf der Gasse, auf den freien Plätzen läßt sie ihre Stimme erschallen.
21 And she makes proclamation on the top of the walls, and sits by the gates of princes; and at the gates of the city boldly says,
An der Ecke lärmender Straßen ruft sie; an den Eingängen der Thore, überall in der Stadt redet sie ihre Worte:
22 So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and are become subject to reproofs.
Wie lange wollt ihr Einfältigen Einfalt lieben, und wie lange wollen die Spötter Lust zum Spotten haben, und die Thoren Erkenntnis hassen?
23 Behold, I will bring forth to you the utterance of my breath, and I will instruct you in my speech.
Kehrt euch zu meiner Rüge, so will ich euch meinen Geist sprudeln lassen, will euch meine Worte kund thun.
24 Since I called, and you did not listen; and I spoke at length, and you gave no heed;
Weil ich denn rief, und ihr euch weigertet, ich meine Hand ausstreckte, und niemand darauf achtete,
25 but you set at nothing my counsels, and disregarded my reproofs;
ihr vielmehr allen meinen Rat in den Wind schlugt und meiner Rüge nicht folgtet,
26 therefore I also will laugh at your destruction; and I will rejoice against [you] when ruin comes upon you:
so will auch ich bei eurem Unglücke lachen, will spotten, wenn Schrecken über euch kommt,
27 yes when dismay suddenly comes upon you, and [your] overthrow shall arrive like a tempest; and when tribulation and distress shall come upon you, or when ruin shall come upon you.
wenn einem Ungewitter gleich Schrecken über euch kommt, und euer Unglück wie ein Sturmwind heranzieht, wenn Not und Drangsal über euch kommen.
28 For it shall be that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find [me].
Alsdann werden sie mich rufen, aber ich werde nicht antworten; sie werden mich suchen, aber nicht finden.
29 For they hated wisdom, and did not choose the word of the Lord:
Darum, daß sie Erkenntnis haßten und sich nicht für die Furcht Jahwes entschieden,
30 neither would they attend to my counsels, but derided my reproofs.
von meinem Rate nichts wissen wollten, alle meine Rüge verschmähten:
31 Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and shall be filled with their own ungodliness.
So sollen sie von den Früchten ihres Wandels zehren und sich an ihren eigenen Entschließungen satt essen.
32 For because they wronged the simple, they shall be slain; and an inquisition shall ruin the ungodly.
Denn ihr eignes Widerstreben bringt die Einfältigen um, und ihre eigne Sorglosigkeit richtet die Thoren zu Grunde.
33 But he that hearkens to me shall dwell in confidence, and shall rest securely from all evil.
Wer aber mir gehorcht, wird sicher wohnen und wohlgemut sein, ledig aller Furcht vor Unheil.
