Proverbs 25
1 These are the miscellaneous instructions of Solomon, which the friends of Ezekias king of Judea copied out.
Hae hmuennawk loe Judah siangpahrang Hezekiah ih kaminawk mah tarik pakong patoeng ih, Solomon palunghahaih loknawk ah oh.
2 The glory of God conceals a matter: but the glory of a king honours business.
Sithaw lensawkhaih loe amtueng ai ah kaom hmuen maeto ah oh; toe hmuen maeto kawng pakronghaih loe siangpahrangnawk lensawkhaih ah oh.
3 Heaven is high, and earth is deep, and a king's heart is unsearchable.
Van loe sang moe, long loe thuk baktih toengah, siangpahrangnawk ih palung loe hnu thai mak ai.
4 Beat the drossy silver, and it shall be made entirely pure.
Sumkanglung thung ih sum aek to va ah, to naah ni sum sahkung mah boengloeng kahoih to sah thai tih.
5 Slay the ungodly from before the king, and his throne shall prosper in righteousness.
Kasae kaminawk to siangpahrang hmaa hoiah takhoe oh; to tiah ni anih ih angraeng tangkhang to toenghaih hoiah cak poe tih.
6 Be not boastful in the presence of the king, and remain not in the places of princes;
Siangpahrang hmaa ah nangmah hoi nangmah to amkoeh hmah; kalen kaminawk ih ahmuen ah angdoe hmah;
7 for [it is] better for you that it should be said, Come up to me, than that [one] should humble you in the presence of the prince; speak of that which your eyes have seen.
mik hoiah na hnuk ih angraeng hmaa ah azathaih hoiah oh pongah loe, Hae ah angzo tahang ah, tiah thui kami ih lok to tahngaih han hoih kue.
8 Get not suddenly into a quarrel, lest you repent at last.
Lokcaekhaih im ah kami to karangah khing hmah; hnukkhuem ah na imtaeng kami mah azathaih na tongsak nahaeloe kawbangah maw na om tih?
9 Whenever your friend shall reproach you, retreat backward, despise [him] not;
Na imtaeng kami hoi poek anghmong ai pongah lok angaek cadoeh, tamqu hmuen to minawk khaeah taphong hmah;
10 lest your friend continue to reproach you, so your quarrel and enmity shall not depart, but shall be to you like death. Favour and friendship set [a man] free, which do you keep for yourself, lest you be made liable to reproach; but take heed to your ways peaceably.

11 [As] a golden apple in a necklace of sardius, so [is it] to speak a [wise] word.
Kahoih lok apaehhaih loe sumkanglung pazut het ih sui bungmu hoiah anghmong.
12 In an ear-ring of gold a precious sardius is also set; [so is] a wise word to an obedient ear.
Palunghahaih lok hoi thuitaek kami loe, lok tahngai kami hanah, sui naa tangkraeng baktih, suitui kaciim hoiah sak ih bungmu baktiah oh.
13 As a fall of snow in the time of harvest is good against heat, so a faithful messenger [refreshes] those that send him; for he helps the souls of his employers.
Oep kaom laicaeh loe anih patoehkung hanah, cang aah nathuem ih dantui kamding baktiah oh, patoehkung Angraeng ih palungthin to angthasak.
14 As winds and clouds and rains are most evident [objects], so is he that boasts of a false gift.
Tangqum paek han, tiah amoek moe, paek ai kami loe khotui om ai tamai hoiah anghmong.
15 In longsuffering is prosperity to kings, and a soft tongue breaks the bones.
Pauephaih rang hoiah ukkung to pazawk thaih moe, loknaem mah ahuh to angkhaehsak thaih.
16 Having found honey, eat [only] what is enough, lest haply you be filled, and vomit it up.
Khoitui to na hnuk maw? Kahoih boekah caa ah, amhah aak ah na caak nahaeloe na palok tih.
17 Enter sparingly into your friend's house, lest he be satiated with your company, and hate you.
Na imtaeng khaeah kahoih boekah caeh ah, na caeh tuektuek nahaeloe, na hmawt ueloe, na hnuma moeng tih.
18 [As] a club, and a dagger, and a pointed arrow, so also is a man who bears false witness against his friend.
A imtaeng kami nuiah amsawn hnukung ah angdoe kami loe thingboeng, haita, palaa hoiah anghmong.
19 The way of the wicked and the foot of the transgressor shall perish in an evil day.
Raihaih tong naah oep kaom ai kami khaeah amhahaih loe, haa kangkhaek, khokkhaem kami hoiah anghmong.
20 As vinegar is bad for a sore, so trouble befalling the body afflicts the heart. As a moth in a garment, and a worm in wood, so the grief of a man hurts the heart.
Poek angpho kami khaeah laasah kami loe siktue ah laihaw angkhring kami, zencing nuiah kathaw tui bawh baktiah ni oh.
21 If your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink;
Na misa to zok amthlam nahaeloe buh paek ah; tui anghae nahaeloe naek hanah tui to paek ah;
22 for so doing you shall heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward you [with] good.
hae loe anih lu nuiah hmaisaae koeng pae baktiah om ueloe, Angraeng mah tahamhoihaih na paek tih.
23 The north wind raises clouds; so an impudent face provokes the tongue.
Aluek bang ih takhi mah kho angzohsak baktih toengah, minawk kasae thui kami ih palai mah palungphuihaih to tacawtsak.
24 [It is] better to dwell on a corner of the roof, than with a railing woman in an open house.
Angzoeh koeh zu hoiah kakawk parai im thungah nawnto oh pongah loe imphu ranui ih im takii ah oh to hoih kue.
25 As cold water is agreeable to a thirsting soul, so is a good message from a land far off.
Angthla parai ahmuen hoiah angzo kahoih tamthanglok loe pakhra tui anghae kami hanah tui kamding ah oh.
26 As if one should stop a well, and corrupt a spring of water, so [is it] unseemly for a righteous man to fall before an ungodly man.
Kahoih ai kami hmaa ah kamtimh katoeng kami loe tui kamnu hoi kaqong tui baktiah ni oh.
27 [It is] not good to eat much honey; but it is right to honour venerable sayings.
Khoitui pop hmoek ah caak han hoih ai baktih toengah, angmah lensawkhaih pakrong kami loe lensawkhaih to hnu mak ai.
28 As a city whose walls are broken down, and which is unfortified, so is a man who does anything without counsel.
A poekhaih angsum ai kami loe sipae om ai, kamtimh vangpui hoiah anghmong.
