Proverbs 14
1 Wise women build houses: but a foolish one digs [hers] down with her hands.
Mkazi wanzeru amamanga banja lake, koma mkazi wopusa amalimasula ndi manja ake omwe.
2 He that walks uprightly fears the Lord; but he that is perverse in his ways shall be dishonoured.
Amene amayenda molungama amaopa Yehova, koma amene njira zake ndi zoyipa amanyoza Yehova.
3 Out of the mouth of fools [comes] a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise preserve them.
Kuyankhula kwa chitsiru kumamuyitanira ndodo pa msana, koma milomo ya munthu wanzeru imamuteteza.
4 Where no oxen are, the cribs are clean; but where there is abundant produce, the strength of the ox is apparent.
Pakasowa ngʼombe zolima gome limakhala lopanda chakudya, koma pakakhala ngʼombe zamphamvu zakudya zimachulukanso.
5 A faithful witness does not lie; but an unjust witness kindles falsehoods.
Mboni yokhulupirika sinama, koma mboni yonyenga imayankhula zabodza.
6 You shall seek wisdom with bad men, and shall not find it; but discretion is easily available with the prudent.
Wonyoza anzake amafunafuna nzeru koma osayipeza, koma munthu womvetsa bwino amadziwa zinthu msanga.
7 All things are adverse to a foolish man; but wise lips are the weapons of discretion.
Khala kutali ndi munthu wopusa chifukwa sudzapeza mawu a nzeru.
8 The wisdom of the prudent will understand their ways; but the folly of fools leads astray.
Nzeru za munthu wochenjera zagona pakuzindikira njira zake. Koma uchitsiru wa zitsiru umapusitsidwa ndi chinyengo chawo chomwe.
9 The houses of transgressors will need purification; but the houses of the just are acceptable.
Zitsiru zimanyoza za kulapa machimo, awo, koma kufuna kwabwino kumapezeka mwa anthu olungama.
10 [If] a man's mind is intelligent, his soul is sorrowful; and when he rejoices, he has no fellowship with pride.
Mtima uliwonse umadziwa wokha zowawa zake, ndipo palibe wina aliyense angadziwe kukondwa kwake.
11 The houses of ungodly men shall be utterly destroyed; but the tabernacles of them that walk uprightly shall stand.
Nyumba ya munthu woyipa idzapasuka, koma tenti ya munthu wowongoka mtima idzakhazikika.
12 There is a way which seems to be right with men, but the ends of it reach to the depths of hell. (questioned)
Pali njira ina yooneka ngati yabwino kwa munthu, koma kumatsiriziro kwake ndi ku imfa.
13 Grief mingles not with mirth; and joy in the end comes to grief.
Ngakhale poseka mtima utha kumva kuwawa, ndipo mathero achimwemwe akhoza kukhala chisoni.
14 A stout-hearted [man] shall be filled with his own ways; and a good man with his own thoughts.
Munthu wosakhulupirika adzalandira zogwirizana ndi ntchito yake, koma munthu wabwino adzalandira mphotho ya ntchito yake.
15 The simple believes every word: but the prudent man betakes himself to afterthought.
Munthu wopusa amakhulupirira chilichonse, koma munthu wochenjera amaganizira bwino mayendedwe ake.
16 A wise man fears, and departs from evil; but the fool trusts in himself, and joins himself with the transgressor.
Munthu wanzeru amaopa Mulungu ndipo amapewa zoyipa, koma munthu wopusa ndi wokula mtima amakhala wosasamala.
17 A passionate man acts inconsiderately; but a sensible man bears up under many things.
Munthu wopsa mtima msanga amachita zinthu za uchitsiru, ndipo anthu amadana ndi munthu wachinyengo.
18 Fools shall have mischief for their portion; but the prudent shall take fast hold of understanding.
Anthu opusa amalandira uchitsiru, koma anthu ochenjera amavekedwa chipewa cha ulemerero wa kudziwa zinthu.
19 Evil men shall fall before the good; and the ungodly shall attend at the gates of the righteous.
Anthu oyipa adzagwada pamaso pa anthu abwino, ndipo anthu oyipa adzapempha thandizo kwa anthu olungama.
20 Friends will hate poor friends; but the friends of the rich are many.
Munthu wosauka ngakhale anansi ake omwe amamuda, koma munthu wolemera ali ndi abwenzi ambiri.
21 He that dishonours the needy sins: but he that has pity on the poor is most blessed.
Wonyoza mnansi wake ndi wochimwa koma ndi wodala amene amachitira chifundo anthu osowa.
22 They that go astray devise evils: but the good devise mercy and truth. The framers of evil do not understand mercy and truth: but compassion and faithfulness are with the framers of good.
Kodi amene amakonzekera zoyipa sasochera? Koma amene amakonzekera zabwino anthu amawaonetsa chikondi ndi kukhulupirika.
23 With every one [who is] careful there is abundance: but the pleasure-taking and indolent shall be in lack.
Ntchito iliyonse imakhala ndi phindu, koma kuyankhulayankhula kumabweretsa umphawi.
24 A prudent man is the crown of the wise: but the occupation of fools is evil.
Chipewa chaulemu cha anthu a nzeru ndi chuma chawo chomwe, koma malipiro a zitsiru ndi uchitsiru.
25 A faithful witness shall deliver a soul from evil: but a deceitful [man] kindles falsehoods.
Mboni yokhulupirika imapulumutsa miyoyo, koma mboni yabodza imaphetsa.
26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and he leaves his children a support.
Amene amaopa Yehova ali ndi chitetezo chokwanira ndipo iye adzakhala pothawira pa ana ake.
27 The commandment of the Lord is a fountain of life; and it causes [men] to turn aside from the snare of death.
Kuopa Yehova ndiye kasupe wamoyo, kumathandiza munthu kuti apewe msampha wa imfa.
28 In a populous nation is the glory of a king: but in the failure of people is the ruin of a prince.
Gulu lalikulu la anthu ndiye ulemerero wa mfumu, koma popanda anthu kalonga amawonongeka.
29 A man slow to wrath abounds in wisdom: but a man of impatient spirit is very foolish.
Munthu wosapsa mtima msanga amamvetsa zinthu kwambiri, koma munthu wopsa mtima msanga amaonetsa uchitsiru wake.
30 A meek-spirited man is a healer of the heart: but a sensitive heart is a corruption of the bones.
Mtima wodekha umapatsa thupi moyo, koma nsanje imawoletsa mafupa.
31 He that oppresses the needy provokes his Maker: but he that honours him has pity upon the poor.
Amene amapondereza mʼmphawi amanyoza mlengi wake, koma wochitira chifundo munthu wosowa amalemekeza Mulungu.
32 The ungodly shall be driven away in his wickedness: but he who is secure in his own holiness is just.
Anthu oyipa adzakanthidwa chifukwa cha ntchito zawo zomwe, koma olungama adzatetezedwa mwa imfa yawo.
33 There is wisdom in the good heart of a man: but in the heart of fools it is not discerned.
Nzeru zimakhala mu mtima mwa anthu omvetsa zinthu, koma nzeru sipezeka mu mtima mwa zitsiru.
34 Righteousness exalts a nation: but sins diminish tribes.
Chilungamo chimakweza mtundu wa anthu, koma uchimo umachititsa manyazi mtundu uliwonse.
35 An understanding servant is acceptable to a king; and by his good behaviour he removes disgrace.
Mfumu imasangalatsidwa ndi wantchito wanzeru, koma imachitira ukali wantchito wochititsa manyazi.
