< Proverbs 10 >

1 A wise son makes [his] father glad: but a foolish son is a grief to his mother.

2 Treasures shall not profit the lawless: but righteousness shall deliver from death.
Halangnah kah thakvoh khaw hoeikhang tloe pawt tih, duengnah long tah dueknah lamloh a huul.
3 The Lord will not famish a righteous soul: but he will overthrow the life of the ungodly.
Aka dueng kah hinglu tah BOEIPA loh a lamlum sak moenih, tedae halang kah a talnah te a thaek pah.
4 Poverty brings a man low: but the hands of the vigourous make rich. A son who is instructed shall be wise, and shall use the fool for a servant.
Palyal kut loh a saii tah vawtthoek tih, kut aka haam tah boei.
5 A wise son is saved from heat: but a lawless son is blighted of the winds in harvest.
Khohal ah aka yoep capa long tah a cangbam tih, cangah vaengah aka ip capa loh yah a bai.
6 The blessing of the Lord is upon the head of the just: but untimely grief shall cover the mouth of the ungodly.
Aka dueng kah a lu dongah yoethennah om dae, halang kah a ka long tah kuthlahnah khaw a phah.
7 The memory of the just is praised; but the name of the ungodly [man] is extinguished.
Aka dueng poekkoepnah tah yoethennah la om dae, halang tah a ming pawn ni.
8 A wise man in heart will receive commandments; but he that is unguarded in his lips shall be overthrown in his perverseness.
Lungbuei aka cueih loh olpaek te a doe tih, aka ang tah a hmui a lai a caehdoelh pah.
9 He that walks simply, walks confidently; but he that perverts his ways shall be known.
Thincaknah neh aka pongpa tah ngaikhuek la cet dae, a longpuei aka kawn sak khaw amah ming uh bitni.
10 He that winks with his eyes deceitfully, procures griefs for men; but he that reproves boldly is a peacemaker.
Mik neh aka mikhip loh nganboh a paek tih, aka ang tah a hmui a lai a caehdoelh pah.
11 [There is] a fountain of life in the hand of a righteous man; but destruction shall cover the mouth of the ungodly.
Aka dueng kah a ka tah hingnah thunsih la om tih, halang kah a ka loh kuthlahnah te a uep.
12 Hatred stirs up strife; but affection covers all that do not love strife.
Hmuhuetnah loh tingtoehnah a huek. Tedae lungnah long tah dumlai boeih a dah.
13 He that brings forth wisdom from his lips smites the fool with a rod.
Hmuilai dongah aka yakming loh cueihnah a dang tih, lungbuei aka talh kah a nam ham rhuiboeng om.
14 The wise will hide discretion; but the mouth of the hasty draws near to ruin.
Aka cueih rhoek loh mingnah a khoem uh tih aka ang kah a ka tah a porhaknah yoei.
15 The wealth of rich men is a strong city; but poverty is the ruin of the ungodly.
Khorha khuikah, hlanglen kah a boei a rhaeng tah amah kah a sarhi la om tih, a khodaeng te tattloel rhoek kah porhaknah la om.
16 The works of the righteous produce life; but the fruits of the ungodly [produce] sins.
Aka dueng kah thaphu tah hingnah la om tih halang kah cangah tah tholhnah la poeh.
17 Instruction keeps the right ways of life; but instruction unchastened goes astray.
Thuituennah aka ngaithuen tah hingnah caehlong la pawk tih toelthamnah aka hnawt tah kho a hmang.
18 Righteous lips cover enmity; but they that utter railings are most foolish.
Hmuhuetnah aka phah kah a hmuilai khaw a honghi la om tih, theetnah aka haeh khaw ang.
19 By a multitude of words you shall not escape sin; but if you refrain your lips you will be prudent.
Olka a yet vaengah dumlai khaw a mueh moenih, tedae a hmuilai aka tuem ni lungming la a om.
20 The tongue of the just is tried silver; but the heart of the ungodly shall fail.
Aka dueng kah ol tah cak a coelh bangla om tih halang kah a lungbuei tah vilvel mai ni.
21 The lips of the righteous know sublime [truths]: but the foolish die in lack.
Aka dueng kah hmuilai loh muep a kok tih aka ang tah a lungbuei a talh dongah duek.
22 The blessing of the Lord is upon the head of the righteous; it enriches [him], and grief of heart shall not be added to [it].
BOEIPA kah yoethennah tah boei tih, te te patangpnah a koei thil moenih.
23 A fool does mischief in sport; but wisdom brings forth prudence for a man.
Aka ang ham tah nueihbu te khonuen rhamtat la a saii dae, cueihnah long tah hlang taengah lungcuei la om.
24 The ungodly is engulfed in destruction; but the desire of the righteous is acceptable.
Halang kah rhihnahkoi tah amah taengla a pawk pah tih aka dueng kah a ngaihlihnah khaw a doo pah ni.
25 When the storm passes by, the ungodly vanishes away; but the righteous turns aside and escapes for ever.
Cangpalam loh a paan vaengah halang tah pai thai pawt vetih aka dueng kah khoengim tah kumhal ah pai ni.
26 As a sour grape is hurtful to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so iniquity hurts those that practise it.
Kolhnaw tah a tueih rhoek hamla a no dongah a thuui bangla, a mik dongah hmaikhu bangla a om pah.
27 The fear of the Lord adds [length] of days: but the years of the ungodly shall be shortened.
BOEIPA hinyahnah loh khohnin a thap tih halang kah a kum tah a rhaem pah.
28 Joy rests long with the righteous: but the hope of the ungodly shall perish.
Aka dueng rhoek kah ngaiuepnah tah kohoenah la om tih halang rhoek kah ngaiuepnah tah paltham.
29 The fear of the Lord is a strong hold of the saints: but ruin [comes] to them that work wickedness.
BOEIPA kah longpuei he thincaknah ham tah lunghim la om tih boethae aka saii ham porhaknah la om.
30 The righteous shall never fail: but the ungodly shall not dwell in the earth.
Aka dueng tah kumhal duela tuen pawt dae halang rhoek tah diklai ah khosa mahpawh.
31 The mouth of the righteous drops wisdom: but the tongue of the unjust shall perish.
Aka dueng kah a ka ah cueihnah cuen tih calaak rhoek kah a lai tah a yueh pah ni.
32 The lips of just men drop grace: but the mouth of the ungodly is perverse.
Aka dueng kah hmuilai tah kolonah la a ming dae halang rhoek kah a ka tah calaak yoeyah.
