Numbers 35
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses to the west of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,
Και ελάλησε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν εις τας πεδιάδας Μωάβ παρά τον Ιορδάνην κατέναντι της Ιεριχώ, λέγων,
2 Give orders to the children of Israel, and they shall give to the Levites cities to dwell in from the lot of their possession, and they shall give to the Levites the suburbs of the cities round about them.
Πρόσταξον τους υιούς Ισραήλ να δώσωσιν εις τους Λευΐτας, από της κληρονομίας της ιδιοκτησίας αυτών, πόλεις διά να κατοικήσωσι· και περίχωρα θέλετε δώσει εις τους Λευΐτας διά τας πόλεις πέριξ αυτών.
3 And the cities shall be for them to dwell in, and their enclosures shall be for their cattle and all their beasts.
Και αι μεν πόλεις θέλουσιν είσθαι εις αυτούς διά να κατοικώσιν εις αυτάς· τα δε περίχωρα αυτών θέλουσιν είσθαι διά τα κτήνη αυτών και διά τα υπάρχοντα αυτών και διά πάντα τα ζώα αυτών.
4 And the suburbs of the cities which you shall give to the Levites, shall be from the wall of the city and outwards two thousand cubits round about.
Και τα περίχωρα των πόλεων, τα οποία θέλετε δώσει εις τους Λευΐτας, θέλουσιν είσθαι, από του τείχους της πόλεως και έξω, χίλιαι πήχαι κύκλω.
5 And you shall measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and your city shall be in the midst of this, and the suburbs of the cities [as described].
Και θέλετε μετρήσει από του έξω της πόλεως προς το ανατολικόν μέρος δύο χιλιάδας πηχών, και προς το μεσημβρινόν μέρος δύο χιλιάδας πηχών, και προς το δυτικόν μέρος δύο χιλιάδας πηχών, και προς το αρκτικόν μέρος δύο χιλιάδας πηχών· και η πόλις θέλει είσθαι εν τω μέσω. Ταύτα θέλουσιν είσθαι εις αυτούς τα περίχωρα των πόλεων.
6 And you shall give the cities to the Levites, the six cities of refuge which you shall give for the slayer to flee there, and in addition to these, forty-two cities.
Και εκ των πόλεων, τας οποίας θέλετε δώσει εις τους Λευΐτας, εξ πόλεις θέλουσιν είσθαι διά καταφύγιον, τας οποίας θέλετε διορίσει διά να φεύγη εκεί ο φονεύς· και εις ταύτας θέλετε προσθέσει τεσσαράκοντα δύο πόλεις.
7 You shall give to the Levites in all forty-eight cities, them and their suburbs.
Πάσαι αι πόλεις, τας οποίας θέλετε δώσει εις τους Λευΐτας, θέλουσιν είσθαι τεσσαράκοντα οκτώ πόλεις· ταύτας θέλετε δώσει μετά των περιχώρων αυτών.
8 And as for the cities which you shall give out of the possession of the children of Israel, from those [that have] much [you shall give] much, and from those that have less you shall give less: they shall give of their cities to the Levites each one according to his inheritance which they shall inherit.
Και αι πόλεις, τας οποίας θέλετε δώσει, θέλουσιν είσθαι εκ της ιδιοκτησίας των υιών Ισραήλ· από των εχόντων πολλά θέλετε δώσει πολλά, και από των εχόντων ολίγα θέλετε δώσει ολίγα· έκαστος κατά την κληρονομίαν, την οποίαν εκληρονόμησε, θέλει δώσει εκ των πόλεων αυτού εις τους Λευΐτας.
9 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
Και ελάλησε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν λέγων,
10 Speak to the children of Israel, and you shall say to them, You are to cross over Jordan into the land of Chanaan.
Λάλησον προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ και ειπέ προς αυτούς, Όταν διαβήτε τον Ιορδάνην προς την γην Χαναάν,
11 And you shall appoint to yourselves cities: they shall be to you cities of refuge for the slayer to flee to, every one who has killed another unintentionally.
τότε θέλετε διορίσει εις εαυτούς πόλεις, διά να ήναι εις εσάς πόλεις καταφυγίου, ώστε να φεύγη εκεί ο φονεύς, όστις εφόνευσεν άνθρωπον ακουσίως.
12 And the cities shall be to you places of refuge from the avenger of blood, and the slayer shall not die until he stands before the congregation for judgement.
Και θέλουσιν είσθαι εις εσάς πόλεις διά καταφύγιον από του εκδικούντος το αίμα· διά να μη αποθάνη ο φονεύς, εωσού παρασταθή ενώπιον της συναγωγής εις κρίσιν.
13 And the cities which you shall assign, [even] the six cities, shall be places of refuge for you.
Και εκ των πόλεων, τας οποίας θέλετε δώσει, εξ πόλεις θέλουσιν είσθαι διά καταφύγιον εις εσάς.
14 You shall assign three cities on the other side of Jordan, and you shall assign three cities in the land of Chanaan.
Τας τρεις πόλεις θέλετε δώσει εντεύθεν του Ιορδάνου, και τας τρεις πόλεις θέλετε δώσει εν τη γη Χαναάν· πόλεις καταφυγίου θέλουσιν είσθαι.
15 It shall be a place of refuge for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for him that sojourns amongst you; these cities shall be for a place of refuge, for every one to flee there who has killed a man unintentionally.
Αύται αι εξ πόλεις θέλουσιν είσθαι καταφύγιον διά τους υιούς Ισραήλ και διά τον ξένον και διά τον παροικούντα μεταξύ αυτών· ώστε όστις φονεύση άνθρωπον ακουσίως να φεύγη εκεί.
16 And if he should strike him with an iron instrument, and the man should die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death.
Και εάν πατάξη αυτόν με όργανον σιδηρούν, ώστε να αποθάνη, είναι φονεύς· ο φονεύς εξάπαντος θέλει θανατωθή.
17 And if he should strike him with a stone [thrown] from his hand, whereby a man may die, and he [thus] die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death.
Και εάν πατάξη αυτόν με λίθον εκ της χειρός, διά του οποίου δύναται να αποθάνη, και αποθάνη, είναι φονεύς· ο φονεύς εξάπαντος θέλει θανατωθή.
18 And if he should strike him with an instrument of wood from his hand, whereby he may die, and he [thus] die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death.
Η εάν πατάξη αυτόν με ξύλινον όργανον εκ χειρός, εκ του οποίου δύναται να αποθάνη, και αποθάνη, είναι φονεύς· ο φονεύς εξάπαντος θέλει θανατωθή.
19 The avenger of blood himself shall kill the murderer: whenever he shall meet him he shall kill him.
Ο εκδικητής του αίματος, αυτός θέλει θανατόνει τον φονέα· όταν απαντήση αυτόν, θέλει θανατόνει αυτόν·
20 And if he should thrust him through enmity, or cast any thing upon him from an ambuscade, and the man should die,
Εάν δε δι' έχθραν ωθήση αυτόν ή παραμονεύσας ρίψη τι επ' αυτόν και αποθάνη,
21 or if he have struck him with his hand through anger, and the man should die, let the man that struck him be put to death by all means, he is a murderer: let the murderer by all means be put to death: the avenger of blood shall kill the murderer when he meets him.
ή εχθρικώς πατάξη αυτόν με την χείρα αυτού και αποθάνη, ο πατάξας εξάπαντος θέλει θανατωθή· είναι φονεύς· ο εκδικητής του αίματος θέλει θανατόνει τον φονέα, όταν απαντήση αυτόν.
22 But if he should thrust him suddenly, not through enmity, or cast any thing upon him, not from an ambuscade,
Εάν όμως ωθήση αυτόν εξαίφνης χωρίς έχθρας ή ρίψη τι επ' αυτόν χωρίς να παραμονεύση αυτόν,
23 or [strike him] with any stone, whereby a man may die, unawares, and it should fall upon him, and he should die, but he was not his enemy, nor sought to hurt him;
ή λίθον τινά χωρίς να ίδη αυτόν, εκ του οποίου δύναται να αποθάνη, και ρίψη επ' αυτόν ώστε να αποθάνη, και δεν ήτο εχθρός αυτού ουδέ εζήτει να κακοποιήση αυτόν,
24 then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood, according to these judgements.
τότε η συναγωγή θέλει κρίνει αναμέσον του φονέως και του εκδικούντος το αίμα κατά τας κρίσεις ταύτας·
25 And the congregation shall rescue the slayer from the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, whither he fled for refuge; and he shall dwell there till the death of the high-priest, whom they anointed with the holy oil.
και η συναγωγή θέλει ελευθερώσει τον φονέα εκ της χειρός του εκδικούντος το αίμα, και η συναγωγή θέλει αποκαταστήσει αυτόν εις την πόλιν του καταφυγίου αυτού, όπου είχε φύγει· και θέλει κατοικεί εν αυτή μέχρι του θανάτου του ιερέως του μεγάλου, του κεχρισμένου διά του αγίου ελαίου.
26 But if the slayer should in any wise go out beyond the bounds of the city whither he fled for refuge,
Εάν όμως ο φονεύς εξέλθη έξω των ορίων της πόλεως του καταφυγίου αυτού, εις την οποίαν έφυγε,
27 and the avenger of blood should find him without the bounds of the city of his refuge, and the avenger of blood should kill the slayer, he is not guilty.
και ο εκδικητής του αίματος εύρη αυτόν έξω των ορίων της πόλεως του καταφυγίου αυτού και ο εκδικητής του αίματος θανατώση τον φονέα, δεν θέλει είσθαι ένοχος αίματος·
28 For he ought to have remained in the city of refuge till the high-priest died; and after the death of the high-priest the slayer shall return to the land of his possession.
διότι έπρεπε να μένη εν τη πόλει του καταφυγίου αυτού μέχρι του θανάτου του μεγάλου ιερέως· μετά δε τον θάνατον του μεγάλου ιερέως, ο φονεύς θέλει επιστρέφει εις την γην της ιδιοκτησίας αυτού.
29 And these things shall be to you for an ordinance of judgement throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
Και ταύτα θέλουσιν είσθαι εις διάταγμα κρίσεως προς εσάς, εις πάσας τας γενεάς σας κατά πάσας τας κατοικίας σας.
30 Whoever kills a man, you shall kill the murderer on the testimony of witnesses; and one witness shall not testify against a soul that he should die.
Όστις φονεύση τινά, ο φονεύς θέλει θανατωθή διά στόματος μαρτύρων· πλην εις μόνος μάρτυς δεν θέλει μαρτυρήσει εναντίον τινός, ώστε να θανατωθή.
31 And you shall not accept ransoms for life from a murderer who is worthy of death, for he shall be surely put to death.
Και δεν θέλετε λαμβάνει ουδεμίαν εξαγοράν υπέρ της ζωής του φονέως, όστις είναι ένοχος θανάτου· αλλά εξάπαντος θέλει θανατωθή.
32 You shall not accept a ransom [to excuse] his fleeing to the city of refuge, so that he should again dwell in the land, until the death of the high-priest.
Και δεν θέλετε λαμβάνει εξαγοράν υπέρ του φυγόντος εις την πόλιν του καταφυγίου αυτού· διά να επιστρέψη να κατοική εν τω τόπω αυτού, μέχρι του θανάτου του ιερέως.
33 So shall you not pollute with murder the land in which you dwell; for this blood pollutes the land, and the land shall not be purged from the blood shed upon it, but by the blood of him that shed it.
Και δεν θέλετε μολύνει την γην εις την οποίαν κατοικείτε· διότι το αίμα αυτό μολύνει την γήν· και η γη δεν δύναται να καθαρισθή από του αίματος του εκχυθέντος επ' αυτής, ειμή διά του αίματος εκείνου όστις έχυσεν αυτό.
34 And you shall not defile the land whereon you dwell, on which I dwell in the midst of you; for I am the Lord dwelling in the midst of the children of Israel.
Μη μολύνετε λοιπόν την γην, εις την οποίαν θέλετε κατοικήσει, εν μέσω της οποίας εγώ κατοικώ· διότι εγώ ο Κύριος είμαι ο κατοικών εν τω μέσω των υιών Ισραήλ.
