< Numbers 31 >
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
And he spoke Yahweh to Moses saying.
2 Avenge the wrongs of the children of Israel on the Madianites, and afterwards you shall be added to your people.
Avenge [the] vengeance of [the] people of Israel from with the Midianites (after *L(P)*) you will be gathered to people your.
3 And Moses spoke to the people, saying, Arm some of you, and set yourselves in array before the Lord against Madian, to inflict vengeance on Madian from the Lord.
And he spoke Moses to the people saying be equipped from with you men for war so they may be on Midian to give [the] vengeance of Yahweh on Midian.
4 Send a thousand of each tribe from all the tribes of the children of Israel to set themselves in array.
One thousand to the tribe one thousand to the tribe for all [the] tribes of Israel you will send out to war.
5 And they numbered of the thousands of Israel a thousand of [each] tribe, twelve thousands; [these were] armed for war.
And they were selected from [the] thousands of Israel one thousand to the tribe two [plus] ten thousand armed [men] of war.
6 And Moses sent them away a thousand of every tribe with their forces, and Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest: and the holy instruments, and the signal trumpets [were] in their hands.
And he sent them Moses one thousand to the tribe to war them and Phinehas [the] son of Eleazar the priest to war and [the] vessels of the holy place and [the] trumpets of the alarm [were] in hand his.
7 And they set themselves in array against Madian, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they killed every male.
And they waged war on Midian just as he had commanded Yahweh Moses and they killed every male.
8 And they killed the kings of Madian together with their slain [subjects]; even Evi and Rocon, and Sur, and Ur, and Roboc, five kings of Madian; and they killed with the sword Balaam the son of Beor with their [other] slain.
And [the] kings of Midian they killed with slain [ones] their Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba [the] five [the] kings of Midian and Balaam [the] son of Beor they killed with the sword.
9 And they made a prey of the women of Madian, and their store, and their cattle, and all their possessions: and they spoiled their forces.
And they took captive [the] people of Israel [the] women of Midian and little one[s] their and all cattle their and all livestock their and all wealth their they plundered.
10 And they burnt with fire all their cities in the places of their habitation and they burnt their villages with fire.
And all cities their in dwelling places their and all encampments their they burned with fire.
11 And they took all their plunder, and all their spoils, both man and beast.
And they took all the plunder and all the booty among humankind and among the livestock.
12 And they brought to Moses and to Eleazar the priest, and to all the children of Israel, the captives, and the spoils, and the plunder, to the camp to Araboth Moab, which is at Jordan by Jericho.
And they brought to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to [the] congregation of [the] people of Israel the captive[s] and the booty and the plunder to the camp to [the] plains of Moab which [were] at [the] Jordan of Jericho.
13 And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the rulers of the synagogue went forth out of the camp to meet them.
And they went out Moses and Eleazar the priest and all [the] leaders of the congregation to meet them to from [the] outside of the camp.
14 And Moses was angry with the captains of the host, the heads of thousands and the heads of hundreds who came from the battle-array.
And he was angry Moses towards [the] officers of the army [the] commanders of the thousands and [the] commanders of the hundreds who were coming from [the] war of the battle.
15 And Moses said to them, Why have you saved every female alive?
And he said to them Moses ¿ have you let live every female.
16 For they were [the occasion] to the children of Israel by the word of Balaam of their revolting and despising the word of the Lord, because of Phogor; and there was a plague in the congregation of the Lord.
There! they they were to [the] people of Israel by [the] word of Balaam to offer unfaithfulness in Yahweh on [the] matter of Peor and it was the plague among [the] congregation of Yahweh.
17 Now then kill every male in all the spoil, kill every woman, who has known the lying with man.
And therefore kill every male among the little one[s] and every woman [who has] known a man to [the] lying of a male kill.
18 And as for all the captivity of women, who have not known the lying with man, save you them alive.
And all the little one[s] among the women who not they have known lying of a male preserve alive for yourselves.
19 And you shall encamp outside the [great] camp seven days; every one who has slain and who touches a dead body, shall be purified on the third day, and you and your captivity [shall purify yourselves] on the seventh day.
And you encamp from [the] outside of the camp seven days any [one who] has killed anyone and any - [one who] has touched the [one] slain you will purify yourselves on the day third and on the day seventh you and captive[s] your.
20 And you shall purify every garment and every leather utensil, and all furniture of goat skin, and every wooden vessel.
And every garment and every article of hide and every product of goat hair and every article of wood you will purify yourselves.
21 And Eleazar the priest said to the men of the host that came from the battle-array, This [is] the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded Moses.
And he said Eleazar the priest to [the] men of the army who had gone to the battle this [is] [the] statute of the law which he commanded Yahweh Moses.
22 Beside the gold, and the silver, and the brass, and the iron, and lead, and tin,
Only the gold and the silver the bronze the iron the tin and the lead.
23 every thing that shall pass through the fire shall so be clean, nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of sanctification; and whatever will not pass through the fire shall pass through water.
Every thing which it will go in the fire you will make pass in the fire and it will be pure nevertheless by [the] water of impurity it will purify itself and all that not it will go in the fire you will make pass in the water.
24 And on the seventh day you shall wash your garments, and be clean; and afterwards you shall come into the camp.
And you will wash clothes your on the day seventh and you will be pure and after you will come to the camp.
25 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
And he said Yahweh to Moses saying.
26 Take the sum of the spoils of the captivity both of man and beast, you and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the families of the congregation.
Lift up [the] head of [the] booty of captivity among humankind and among the livestock you and Eleazar the priest and [the] leaders of [the] fathers of the congregation.
27 And you shall divide the spoils between the warriors that went out to battle, and the whole congregation.
And you will divide the booty between [those] skilled of the battle who went out to war and between all the congregation.
28 And you shall take a tribute for the Lord from the warriors that went out to battle; one soul out of five hundred, from the men, and from the cattle, even from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses; and you shall take from their half.
And you will raise a tax for Yahweh from with [the] men of war who went out to war one person from [the] five hundred from humankind and from the cattle and from the donkeys and from the sheep.
29 And you shall give [them] to Eleazar the priest [as] the first fruits of the Lord.
From half their you will take [it] and you will give [it] to Eleazar the priest [the] contribution of Yahweh.
30 And from the half belonging to the children of Israel you shall take one in fifty from the men, and from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses, and from all the cattle; and you shall give them to the Levites that keep the charges in the tabernacle of the Lord.
And from [the] half of [the] people of Israel you will take - one - [person] drawn from the fifty from humankind from the cattle from the donkeys and from the sheep from all the livestock and you will give them to the Levites [who] keep [the] service of [the] tabernacle of Yahweh.
31 And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.
And he did Moses and Eleazar the priest just as he had commanded Yahweh Moses.
32 And that which remained of the spoil which the warriors took, was—of the sheep, six hundred and seventy-five thousand:
And it was the booty [the] remainder of the plunder which they had plundered [the] people of the army sheep six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand.
33 and oxen, seventy-two thousand:
And cattle two and seventy thousand.
34 and asses, sixty-one thousand.
And donkeys one and sixty thousand.
35 And persons of women who had not known lying with man, all the souls, thirty-two thousand.
And [the] person[s] of humankind from the women who not they had known lying of a male every person two and thirty thousand.
36 And the half, [even] the portion of them that went out to war, from the number of the sheep, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred.
And it was the half [the] portion of those [who] had gone out in the army [the] number of the sheep [was] three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred.
37 And the tribute to the Lord from the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.
And it was the tax for Yahweh from the sheep six hundred five and seventy.
38 And the oxen, six and thirty thousand, and the tribute to the Lord seventy-two.
And the cattle [were] six and thirty thousand and tax their for Yahweh [was] two and seventy.
39 And asses, thirty thousand and five hundred, and the tribute to the Lord, sixty-one:
And donkeys [were] thirty thousand and five hundred and tax their for Yahweh [was] one and sixty.
40 and the persons, sixteen thousand, and the tribute of them to the Lord, thirty-two souls.
And [the] person[s] of humankind [were] six-teen thousand and tax their for Yahweh [was] two and thirty person[s].
41 And Moses gave the tribute to the Lord, the heave-offering of God, to Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses;
And he gave Moses [the] tax of [the] contribution of Yahweh to Eleazar the priest just as he had commanded Yahweh Moses.
42 from the half belonging to the children of Israel, whom Moses separated from the men of war.
And from [the] half of [the] people of Israel which he had divided Moses from the men who had gone to war.
43 And the half [taken] from the sheep, belonging to the congregation, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred.
And it was [the] half of the congregation from the sheep three hundred thousand and thirty thousand seven thousand and five hundred.
44 And the oxen, thirty-six thousand;
And cattle six and thirty thousand.
45 asses, thirty thousand and five hundred;
And donkeys thirty thousand and five hundred.
46 and persons, sixteen thousand.
And person[s] of humankind six-teen thousand.
47 And Moses took of the half belonging to the children of Israel the fifties part, of men and of cattle, and he gave them to the Levites who keep the charges of the tabernacle of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
And he took Moses from [the] half of [the] people of Israel those drawn one from the fifty from humankind and from the livestock and he gave them to the Levites [who] keep [the] service of [the] tabernacle of Yahweh just as he had commanded Yahweh Moses.
48 And all those who were appointed to be officers of thousands of the host, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, approached Moses, and said to Moses,
And they drew near to Moses the officers who [were] of [the] thousands of the army [the] commanders of the thousands and [the] commanders of the hundreds.
49 Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war with us, and not one is missing.
And they said to Moses servants your they have lifted up [the] head of [the] men of war who [were] in hand our and not he is missing from us anyone.
50 And we have brought our gift to the Lord, [every] man who has found an article of gold, whether an armlet, or a chain, or a ring, or a bracelet, or a clasp for hair, to make atonement for us before the Lord.
And we have brought near [the] offering of Yahweh everyone [that] which he found an article of gold an armlet and a bracelet a signet-ring an earring and an ornament to make atonement on selves our before Yahweh.
51 And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, even every wrought article.
And he took Moses and Eleazar the priest the gold from with them every article of work.
52 And all the wrought gold, even the offering that they offered to the Lord, was sixteen thousand and seven hundred and fifty shekels from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds.
And it was - all [the] gold of the contribution which they raised for Yahweh six-teen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekel[s] from with [the] commanders of the thousands and from with [the] commanders of the hundreds.
53 For the men of war took plunder every one for himself.
[the] men of The army they had taken plunder everyone for himself.
54 And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and brought the vessels into the tabernacle of witness, a memorial of the children of Israel before the Lord.
And he took Moses and Eleazar the priest the gold from with [the] commanders of the thousands and the hundreds and they brought it into [the] tent of meeting a memorial for [the] people of Israel before Yahweh.
