Aionian Verses
And all his sons and his daughters gathered themselves together, and came to comfort him; but he would not be comforted, saying, I will go down to my son mourning to Hades; and his father wept for him. (Sheol )
And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said: 'Nay, but I will go down to the grave to my son mourning.' And his father wept for him. (Sheol )
But he said, My son shall not go down with you, because his brother is dead, and he only has been left; and [suppose] it shall come to pass that he is afflicted by the way by which you go, then you shall bring down my old age with sorrow to Hades. (Sheol )
And he said: 'My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left; if harm befall him by the way in which ye go, then will ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
If then you take this one also from my presence, and an affliction happen to him by the way, then shall you bring down my old age with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
and if ye take this one also from me, and harm befall him, ye will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
—it shall even come to pass, when he sees the boy is not with us, [that] he will die, and your servants will bring down the old age of your servant, and our father, with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
it will come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die; and thy servants will bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
But if the Lord shall show by a wonder, and the earth shall open her mouth and swallow them up, and their houses, and their tents, and all that belongs to them, and they shall go down alive into Hades, then you shall know that these men have provoked the Lord. (Sheol )
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the ground open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down alive into the pit, then ye shall understand that these men have despised the LORD.' (Sheol )
And they went down and all that they had, alive into Hades; and the ground covered them, and they perished from the midst of the congregation. (Sheol )
So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit; and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly. (Sheol )
For a fire has been kindled out of my wrath, it shall burn to hell below; it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it; it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol )
For a fire is kindled in My nostril, and burneth unto the depths of the nether-world, and devoureth the earth with her produce, and setteth ablaze the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol )
The Lord kills and makes alive; he brings down to the grave, and brings up. (Sheol )
The LORD killeth, and maketh alive; He bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. (Sheol )
the pangs of death surrounded me, the agonies of death prevented me. (Sheol )
The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of Death confronted me. (Sheol )
Therefore you shall deal [with him] according to your wisdom, and you shall not bring down his grey hairs in peace to the grave. (Sheol )
Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace. (Sheol )
But you shall by no means hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man, and will know what you shall do to him, and shall bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave. (Sheol )
Now therefore hold him not guiltless, for thou art a wise man; and thou wilt know what thou oughtest to do unto him, and thou shalt bring his hoar head down to the grave with blood.' (Sheol )
[I am] as a cloud that is cleared away from the sky: for if a man go down to the grave, he shall not come up again: (Sheol )
As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away, so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. (Sheol )
Heaven [is] high; and what will you do? and there are deeper things than those in hell; what do you know? (Sheol )
It is high as heaven; what canst thou do? Deeper than the nether-world; what canst thou know? (Sheol )
For oh that you had kept me in the grave, and had hidden me until your wrath should cease, and you should set me a time in which you would remember me! (Sheol )
Oh that Thou wouldest hide me in the nether-world, that Thou wouldest keep me secret, until Thy wrath be past, that Thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! — (Sheol )
For if I remain, Hades is my habitation: and my bed has been made in darkness. (Sheol )
If I look for the nether-world as my house; if I have spread my couch in the darkness; (Sheol )
Will they go down with me to Hades, or shall we go down together to the tomb? (Sheol )
They shall go down to the bars of the nether-world, when we are at rest together in the dust. (Sheol )
And they spend their days in wealth, and fall asleep in the rest of the grave. (Sheol )
They spend their days in prosperity, and peacefully they go down to the grave. (Sheol )
[Let them be] withered upon the earth; for they have plundered the sheaves of the fatherless. (Sheol )
Drought and heat consume the snow waters; so doth the nether-world those that have sinned. (Sheol )
Hell is naked before him, and destruction has no covering. (Sheol )
The nether-world is naked before Him, and Destruction hath no covering. (Sheol )
For in death no man remembers you: and who will give you thanks in Hades? (Sheol )
For in death there is no remembrance of Thee; in the nether-world who will give Thee thanks? (Sheol )
Let sinners be driven away into Hades, [even] all the nations that forget God. (Sheol )
The wicked shall return to the nether-world, even all the nations that forget God. (Sheol )
because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption. (Sheol )
For Thou wilt not abandon my soul to the nether-world; neither wilt Thou suffer Thy godly one to see the pit. (Sheol )
The pangs of hell came round about me: the snares of death prevented me. (Sheol )
The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of Death confronted me. (Sheol )
O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Hades, you have delivered me from [amongst] them that go down to the pit. (Sheol )
O LORD, Thou broughtest up my soul from the nether-world; Thou didst keep me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. (Sheol )
O Lord, let me not be ashamed, for I have called upon you: let the ungodly be ashamed, and brought down to Hades. (Sheol )
O LORD, let me not be ashamed, for I have called upon Thee; let the wicked be ashamed, let them be put to silence in the nether-world. (Sheol )
They have laid [them] as sheep in Hades; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning, and their help shall fail in Hades from their glory. (Sheol )
Like sheep they are appointed for the nether-world; death shall be their shepherd; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their form shall be for the nether-world to wear away, that there be no habitation for it. (Sheol )
But God shall deliver my soul from the power of Hades, when he shall receive me. (Pause) (Sheol )
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the nether-world; for He shall receive me. (Selah) (Sheol )
Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into Hades, for iniquity is in their dwellings, in the midst of them. (Sheol )
May He incite death against them, let them go down alive into the nether-world; for evil is in their dwelling, and within them. (Sheol )
For your mercy is great towards me; and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell. (Sheol )
For great is Thy mercy toward me; and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest nether-world. (Sheol )
For my soul is filled with troubles, and my life has drawn near to Hades. (Sheol )
For my soul is sated with troubles, and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. (Sheol )
What man is there who shall live, and not see death? shall [any one] deliver his soul from the hand of Hades? (Pause) (Sheol )
What man is he that liveth and shall not see death, that shall deliver his soul from the power of the grave? (Selah) (Sheol )
The pangs of death compassed me; the dangers of hell found me: I found affliction and sorrow. (Sheol )
The cords of death compassed me, and the straits of the nether-world got hold upon me; I found trouble and sorrow. (Sheol )
If I should go up to heaven, you are there: if I should go down to hell, you are present. (Sheol )
If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there; if I make my bed in the nether-world, behold, Thou art there. (Sheol )
As a lump of earth is crushed upon the ground, our bones have been scattered by the [mouth of] the grave. (Sheol )
As when one cleaveth and breaketh up the earth, our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth. (Sheol )
and let us swallow him alive, as Hades [would], and remove the memorial of him from the earth: (Sheol )
Let us swallow them up alive as the grave, and whole, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol )
For the feet of folly lead those who deal with her down to the grave with death; and her steps are not established. (Sheol )
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on the nether-world; (Sheol )
Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death. (Sheol )

But he knows that mighty men die by her, and he falls in with a snare of hell. (Sheol )
But he knoweth not that the shades are there; that her guests are in the depths of the nether-world. (Sheol )
Hell and destruction are manifest to the Lord; how shall not also be the hearts of men? (Sheol )
The nether-world and Destruction are before the LORD; how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol )
The thoughts of the wise are ways of life, that he may turn aside and escape from hell. (Sheol )
The path of life goeth upward for the wise, that he may depart from the nether-world beneath. (Sheol )
For you shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from death. (Sheol )
Thou beatest him with the rod, and wilt deliver his soul from the nether-world. (Sheol )
Hell and destruction are not filled; so also are the eyes of men insatiable. [He that fixes his eye is an abomination to the Lord; and the uninstructed do not restrain their tongue.] (Sheol )
The nether-world and Destruction are never satiated; so the eyes of man are never satiated. (Sheol )
The grave, and the love of a woman, and the earth not filled with water; water also and fire will not say, It is enough. (Sheol )
The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not satisfied with water; and the fire that saith not: 'Enough.' (Sheol )
Whatsoever your hand shall find to do, do with all your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Hades wither you go. (Sheol )
Whatsoever thy hand attaineth to do by thy strength, that do; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Sheol )
Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave, her shafts are shafts of fire, [even] the flames thereof. (Sheol )
Set me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thine arm; for love is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as the grave; the flashes thereof are flashes of fire, a very flame of the LORD. (Sheol )
Therefore hell has enlarged its desire and opened its mouth without ceasing: and her glorious and great, and her rich and her pestilent men shall go down [into it]. (Sheol )
Therefore the nether-world hath enlarged her desire, and opened her mouth without measure; and down goeth their glory, and their tumult, and their uproar, and he that rejoiceth among them. (Sheol )
Ask for yourself a sign of the Lord your God, in the depth or in the height. (Sheol )
'Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God: ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.' (Sheol )
Hell from beneath is provoked to meet you: all the great ones that have ruled over the earth have risen up together against you, they that have raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Sheol )
The nether-world from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming; the shades are stirred up for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; all the kings of the nations are raised up from their thrones. (Sheol )
Your glory has come down to Hades, and your great mirth: under you they shall spread corruption, and the worm shall be your covering. (Sheol )
Thy pomp is brought down to the nether-world, and the noise of thy psalteries; the maggot is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.' (Sheol )
But now you shall go down to hell, even to the foundations of the earth. (Sheol )
Yet thou shalt be brought down to the nether-world, to the uttermost parts of the pit. (Sheol )
Because you have said, We have made a covenant with Hades, and agreements with death; if the rushing storm should pass, it shall not come upon us: we have made falsehood our hope, and by falsehood shall we be protected: (Sheol )
Because ye have said: 'We have made a covenant with death, and with the nether-world are we at agreement; when the scouring scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood have we hid ourselves'; (Sheol )
except it also take away your covenant of death, and your trust in Hades shall by no means stand: if the rushing storm should come upon you, you shall be beaten down by it. (Sheol )
And your covenant with death shall be disannulled and your agreement with the nether-world shall not stand; when the scouring scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it, (Sheol )
I said in the end of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I shall part with the remainder of my years. (Sheol )
I said: In the noontide of my days I shall go, even to the gates of the nether-world; I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol )
For they that are in the grave shall not praise you, neither shall the dead bless you, neither shall they that are in Hades hope for your mercy. (Sheol )
For the nether-world cannot praise Thee, death cannot celebrate Thee; they that go down into the pit cannot hope for Thy truth. (Sheol )
and you have multiplied your whoredom with them, and you have increased the number of them that are far from you, and have sent ambassadors beyond your borders, and have been debased even to hell. (Sheol )
And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thine ambassadors far off, even down to the nether-world. (Sheol )
Thus says the Lord God; In the day wherein he went down to Hades, the deep mourned for him: and I stayed her floods, and restrained her abundance of water: and Libanus saddened for him, all the trees of the field fainted for him. (Sheol )
Thus saith the Lord GOD: In the day when he went down to the nether-world I caused the deep to mourn and cover itself for him, and I restrained the rivers thereof, and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. (Sheol )
At the sound of his fall the nations quaked, when I brought him down to Hades with them that go down to the pit: and all the trees of Delight comforted him in the heart, and the choice of [plants] of Libanus, all that drink water. (Sheol )
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to the nether-world with them that descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth. (Sheol )
For they went down to hell with him amongst the slain with the sword; and his seed, [even] they that lived under his shadow, perished in the midst of their life. (Sheol )
They also went down into the nether-world with him unto them that are slain by the sword; yea, they that were in his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the nations. (Sheol )
Be you in the depth of the pit: to whom are you superior? yes, go down, and lie with the uncircumcised, in the midst of them [that are] slain with the sword. (Sheol )
The strong among the mighty shall speak of him out of the midst of the nether-world with them that helped him; they are gone down, they lie still, even the uncircumcised, slain by the sword. (Sheol )
And they are laid with the giants that fell of old, who went down to Hades with [their] weapons of war: and they laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities were upon their bones, because they terrified all men during their life. (Sheol )
And they that are inferior to the uncircumcised shall not lie with the mighty that are gone down to the nether-world with their weapons of war, whose swords are laid under their heads, and whose iniquities are upon their bones; because the terror of the mighty was in the land of the living. (Sheol )
I will deliver [them] out of the power of Hades, and will redeem them from death: where is your penalty, O death? O Hades, where is your sting? comfort is hidden from mine eyes. (Sheol )
Shall I ransom them from the power of the nether-world? Shall I redeem them from death? Ho, thy plagues, O death! Ho, thy destruction, O nether-world! Repentance be hid from Mine eyes! (Sheol )
Though they hid themselves in hell, thence shall my hand drag them forth; and though they go up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. (Sheol )
Though they dig into the nether-world, thence shall My hand take them; and though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. (Sheol )
and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and he listened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell: you heard my voice. (Sheol )
And he said: I called out of mine affliction unto the LORD, and He answered me; out of the belly of the nether-world cried I, and Thou heardest my voice. (Sheol )
But the arrogant man and the scorner, the boastful man, shall not finish anything; who has enlarged his desire as the grave, and like death he is never satisfied, and he will gather to himself all the nations, and will receive to himself all the peoples. (Sheol )
Yea, moreover, wine is a treacherous dealer; the haughty man abideth not; he who enlargeth his desire as the nether-world, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all peoples. (Sheol )
And do the gates of death open to you for fear; and did the porters of hell quake when they saw you? ()
There is a way which seems to be right with men, but the ends of it reach to the depths of hell. ()
There are ways that seem to be right to a man, but the end of them looks to the depth of hell. ()
