< Lamentations 3 >
1 ALEPH. I am the man that sees poverty, through the rod of his wrath upon me.
Namni ulee dheekkamsa isaatiin rakkina arge anaa dha.
2 He has taken me, and led me away into darkness, and not [into] light.
Inni fuula isaa duraa na ariʼee akka ani qooda ifaa dukkana keessa deemu na godhe;
3 Nay, against me has he turned his hand all the day.
dhugumaan inni guyyaa guutuu, ammumaa amma harka isaa natti deebise.
4 He has made old my flesh and my skin; he has broken my bones.
Inni foon kootii fi gogaa koo dulloomseera; lafee koo illee caccabseera.
5 BETH. He has built against me, and compassed my head, and brought travail [upon me].
Inni na marsee hadhaaʼummaa fi gidiraa natti naannesseera.
6 He has set me in dark places, as them that have long been dead.
Akkuma warra dur dhumanii akka ani dukkana keessa jiraadhu na godhe.
7 He has builded against me, and I can’t come forth: he has made my brazen [chain] heavy.
Inni akka ani hin miliqneef dallaa natti ijaare; foncaa ulfaatus natti feʼe.
8 GIMEL. Yes, [though] I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.
Yommuu ani waammadhu yookaan gargaarsaaf iyyadhutti illee inni kadhannaa koo dhagaʼuu dida.
9 DALETH. He has built up my ways, he has hedged my paths;
Karaa koo dhagaa soofameen cufe; daandii koo illee ni jalʼisa.
10 he has troubled me, [as] a she-bear lying in wait: he is to me [as] a lion in secret places.
Inni akkuma amaaketa riphee waa eeggatuu, akkuma leenca dhokatee jiruu
11 He pursued [me] after I departed, and brought me to a stand: he has utterly ruined me.
daandii irraa na harkisee na ciccire; kophaatti na gate.
12 HE. He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
Inni iddaa isaa luqqifatee xiyya isaa natti qabe.
13 He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
Korojoo isaa keessaa xiyya baasee onnee koo waraane.
14 I became a laughing stock to all my people; and their song all the day.
Ani saba koo hundaaf waan kolfaa nan taʼe; isaan guyyaa guutuu faaruudhaan natti qoosu.
15 VAU. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.
Inni waan hadhaaʼaa na nyaachise; hadhooftuu illee na quubse.
16 And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel, he has fed me with ashes.
Inni dhagaadhaan ilkaan koo cabse; awwaara keessattis na dhidhiite.
17 He has also removed my soul from peace: I forgot prosperity.
Ani nagaa nan dhabe; gammachuun maal akka taʼes nan irraanfadhe.
18 Therefore my success has perished, and my hope from the Lord.
Kanaafuu ani “Ulfinni koo, abdiin ani Waaqayyo irraa qabu hundinuu badeera” nan jedhe.
19 ZAIN. I remembered by reason of my poverty, and because of persecution my bitterness and gall shall be remembered;
Ani rakkinaa fi asii achi jooruu koo, hadhaaʼummaa fi hadhooftuus nan yaadadha.
20 and my soul shall meditate with me.
Lubbuun koo yeroo hunda waan kana yaaddi; na keessattis gad of qabdi.
21 This will I lay up in my heart, therefore I will endure.
Taʼus ani waan kana nan qalbeeffadha; kanaafuu ani abdii qaba.
22 HETH. [It is] the mercies of the Lord, that he has not failed me, because his compassions are not exhausted. Pity [us], O Lord, early [every] month: for we are not brought to an end, because his compassions are not exhausted.
Nu sababii jaalala Waaqayyoo guddaa sanaatiif hin badnu; gara laafinni isaa hin dhumuutii.
23 [They are] new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
Isaan ganama hunda haaraa dha; amanamummaan kees guddaa dha.
24 The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for him.
Anis, “Waaqayyo qooda koo ti; kanaafuu ani isa nan eeggadha” ofiin nan jedha.
25 TETH. The Lord is good to them that wait for him: the soul which shall seek him
Waaqayyo warra isa abdataniif, kanneen isa barbaadaniif gaarii dha;
26 [is] good, and shall wait for, and quietly expect salvation of the Lord.
Fayyisuu Waaqayyoo calʼisanii eeggachuun gaarii dha.
27 TETH. [It is] good for a man when he bears a yoke in his youth.
Yeroo dargaggummaa isaatti waanjoo baachuun namaaf gaarii dha.
28 He will sit alone, and be silent, because he has borne [it] upon him.
Inni kophaa isaa calʼisee haa taaʼu; Waaqayyo isa baachiseeraatii.
Amma illee abdiin ni jira taʼaatii, inni fuula isaa awwaara keessa haa suuqqatu.
30 JOD. He will give [his] cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.
Inni nama isa dhaʼutti maddii isaa haa qabu; salphinaanis haa guutamu.
31 For the Lord will not reject for ever.
Gooftaan bara baraan nama hin gatuutii.
32 CHAPH. For he that has brought down will pity, and [that] according to the abundance of his mercy.
Inni gadda fidu illee garaa ni laafa; jaalalli isaa kan hin geeddaramne sun guddaadhaatii.
33 He has not answered [in anger] from his heart, though he has brought low the children of a man.
Inni itti yaadee rakkina yookaan dhiphina sanyii namaatti hin fiduutii.
34 LAMED. To bring down under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Yommuu hidhamtoonni biyyattii keessa jiran hundi miilla jalatti dhidhiitaman,
35 to turn aside the judgement of a man before the face of the Most High,
yommuu fuula Waaqa Waan Hundaa Olii duratti mirgi nama tokkoo dhiibamu,
36 to condemn a man [unjustly] in his judgement, the Lord has not given commandment.
yommuu murtiin qajeelaan dhabamu, Gooftaan waan akkasii hin arguu?
37 Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass? the Lord has not commanded it.
Yoo Gooftaan ajajuu baate eenyutu dubbatee waan sana fiixaan baasuu dandaʼa?
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High there shall not come forth evil and good.
Wanni hamaanii fi wanni gaariin afaanuma Waaqa Waan Hundaa Oliitii baʼa mitii?
39 MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?
Yoos namni lubbuun jiraatu kam iyyuu maaliif yommuu cubbuu isaatiif adabamutti guunguma ree?
40 NUN. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.
Kottaa nu daandii keenya qorree haa ilaallu; gara Waaqayyoottis haa deebinu.
41 Let us lift up our hearts with [our] hand to the lofty One in heaven.
Nu onnee keenyaa fi harka keenya gara Waaqa samii keessa jiruutti ol qabnee akkana haa jennu:
42 We have sinned, we have transgressed; and you have not pardoned.
“Nu cubbuu hojjenneerra; fincilleerras; atis nuuf hin dhiifne.
43 SAMECH. You has visited [us] in wrath, and driven us away: you has slain, you has not pitied.
“Ati dheekkamsaan of haguugdee nu ariite; gara laafina malees nu fixxe.
44 You have veiled yourself with a cloud because of prayer, that I might be blind,
Akka kadhannaan tokko iyyuu gara kee hin dhufneef ati duumessaan of haguugde.
45 and be cast off. AIN. You have set us [alone] in the midst of the nations.
Ati saboota gidduutti xurii fi kosii nu goote.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
“Diinonni keenya hundinuu, afaan nutti banataniiru.
47 Fear and wrath are come upon us, suspense and destruction.
Sodaa fi kiyyoon, diigamuu fi badiisni nutti dhufeera.”
48 Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Sababii uummanni koo barbadaaʼeef lolaan imimmaanii ija koo keessaa yaaʼa.
49 PHE. Mine eye is drowned [with tears], and I will not be silent, so that there shall be no rest,
Iji koo boqonnaa malee utuu gargar hin kutin imimmaan lolaasa;
50 until the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
kunis hamma Waaqayyo ol samiidhaa gad ilaalee argutti.
51 Mine eye shall prey upon my soul, because of all the daughters of the city.
Sababii dubartoota magaalaa koo hundaatiif wanni ani argu lubbuu koo gaddisiisa.
52 TSADE. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow, all mine enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause,
Warri sababii malee diina natti taʼan akkuma simbiraa na adamsan.
53 and laid a stone upon me.
Isaan lubbuu koo boolla keessatti galaafatanii dhagaa natti garagalchuu yaalan;
54 Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
bishaan mataa koo irra gara gale; anis, “Baduu koo ti” nan jedhe.
55 KOPH. I called upon your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.
Yaa Waaqayyo, ani boolla qilee keessaa maqaa kee nan waammadha.
56 You heard my voice: close not your ears to my supplication.
Ati kadhannaa koo kan, “Iyya ani gargaarsa barbaachaaf iyyu dhagaʼuu hin didin” jedhu dhageesseerta.
57 You drew near to my help: in the day wherein I called upon you you said to me, Fear not.
Yeroo ani si waammadhetti ati natti dhiʼaattee “Hin sodaatin” naan jette.
58 RECHS. O Lord, you has pleaded the causes of my soul; you has redeemed my life.
Yaa gooftaa ati dubbii koo naa falmite; lubbuu koos ni baraarte.
59 You have seen, O Lord, my troubles: you have judged my cause.
Yaa Waaqayyo, ati daba natti hojjetame argiteerta; dubbii koo naa ilaali!
60 You have seen all their vengeance, [you have looked] on all their devices against me.
Ati haaloo baʼuu isaaniitii fi natti malachuu isaanii hundas argiteerta.
61 CHSEN. You have heard their reproach [and] all their devices against me;
Yaa Waaqayyo, ati arraba isaaniitii fi natti malachuu isaanii hunda dhageesseerta;
62 the lips of them that rose up against me, and their plots against me all the day;
kunis arraba warra natti kaʼaniitii fi waan isaan guyyaa guutuu waaʼee koo hasaasanii dha.
63 their sitting down and their rising up: look you upon their eyes.
Ati isaan ilaali! Isaan taaʼanii yookaan dhadhaabatanii weedduu isaaniitiin natti qoosu.
64 You will render them a recompense, O Lord, according to the works of their hands.
Yaa Waaqayyo, waan isaaniif malu akkuma hojii harka isaaniitti deebisii kenniif.
65 THAU. You will give them [as] a covering, the grief of my heart.
Onnee isaanii haguugi; abaarsi kees isaan irra haa buʼu!
66 You will persecute them in anger, and will consume them from under the heaven, O Lord.
Samiiwwan Waaqayyoo jalaa dheekkamsaan isaan ariʼii isaan balleessis.
