< Lamentations 3 >
1 ALEPH. I am the man that sees poverty, through the rod of his wrath upon me.
Mwen se yon nonm ki konnen mizè moun gen pou pase lè Bondye ankòlè sou yo, lè Bondye ap pini yo.
2 He has taken me, and led me away into darkness, and not [into] light.
Li trennen m', li fè m' mache nan fènwa san yon ti limyè pou klere m'.
3 Nay, against me has he turned his hand all the day.
Tout lajounen, l'ap plede bat mwen san rete.
4 He has made old my flesh and my skin; he has broken my bones.
Po kò m' fin chire, vyann mwen parèt deyò konsa. Li kraze tout zo nan kò m'.
5 BETH. He has built against me, and compassed my head, and brought travail [upon me].
Li fèmen m' nan yon koridò mizè ak lafliksyon.
6 He has set me in dark places, as them that have long been dead.
Li fè m' rete kote ki fènwa a tankou moun mouri yo.
7 He has builded against me, and I can’t come forth: he has made my brazen [chain] heavy.
Li moute yon miray, li fèmen kote m' ye a, m' pa ka chape. Li mare m' ak gwo chenn.
8 GIMEL. Yes, [though] I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.
Tout rele mwen rele byen fò, pesonn p'ap tande m'.
9 DALETH. He has built up my ways, he has hedged my paths;
Li simen gwo wòch toupatou sou wout mwen. Kote m' vire, chak pa mwen fè, m' bite.
10 he has troubled me, [as] a she-bear lying in wait: he is to me [as] a lion in secret places.
Tankou yon lous, li biske kò l', l'ap veye m'. Tankou yon lyon, li kache, l'ap tann mwen.
11 He pursued [me] after I departed, and brought me to a stand: he has utterly ruined me.
Li fè m' tonbe nan bwa. Li filange tout kò m'. Lèfini, li lage m'.
12 HE. He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
Li mete flèch nan banza li, li vize. Se sou mwen l'ap voye yo.
13 He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
Li fè flèch li yo antre fon nan kò m'.
14 I became a laughing stock to all my people; and their song all the day.
Tout moun nan peyi a ap pase m' nan betiz. Se toutan y'ap fè chante sou mwen.
15 VAU. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.
Li plen vant mwen ak manje anmè kou fyèl. Li fè m' bwè labsent jouk mwen sou.
16 And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel, he has fed me with ashes.
Li fwote tout figi m' atè, li fè m' kase dan m' nan wòch.
17 He has also removed my soul from peace: I forgot prosperity.
Mwen pa konnen sa yo rele kè poze. Mwen bliye sa yo rele kè kontan.
18 Therefore my success has perished, and my hope from the Lord.
Mwen di: M' pa gen lontan pou m' viv ankò. M' pèdi tout espwa mwen te gen nan Bondye.
19 ZAIN. I remembered by reason of my poverty, and because of persecution my bitterness and gall shall be remembered;
Lè m' chonje nan ki mizè mwen ye, jan m'ap mache pwonmennen san rete, se tankou yon labsent, yon fyèl m'ap vale.
20 and my soul shall meditate with me.
Wi, lè m' chonje sa, kè m' sere, m' santi kè m' ap rache
21 This will I lay up in my heart, therefore I will endure.
Men, mwen reprann kouraj lè m' chonje yon sèl bagay.
22 HETH. [It is] the mercies of the Lord, that he has not failed me, because his compassions are not exhausted. Pity [us], O Lord, early [every] month: for we are not brought to an end, because his compassions are not exhausted.
Seyè a pa janm sispann renmen nou. L'ap toujou gen pitye pou nou.
23 [They are] new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
Tankou solèy la ki leve chak maten konsa tou l'ap toujou kenbe pawòl li.
24 The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for him.
Mwen di: Se Seyè a ki tout mwen. Se nan li mwen mete tout espwa m'.
25 TETH. The Lord is good to them that wait for him: the soul which shall seek him
Seyè a bon pou tout moun ki mete konfyans yo nan li, pou moun k'ap konte sou li.
26 [is] good, and shall wait for, and quietly expect salvation of the Lord.
Sa bon pou nou rete dousman ap tann li vin delivre nou.
27 TETH. [It is] good for a man when he bears a yoke in his youth.
Sa bon pou nou aprann sipòte depi nou tou jenn.
28 He will sit alone, and be silent, because he has borne [it] upon him.
Lè Bondye ap manyen ak nou, ann chita pou kont nou san di anyen.
Nou pa bezwen plenyen. Nou pa janm konnen, ka gen espwa toujou.
30 JOD. He will give [his] cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.
Se pou n' pare figi n' pou n' pran souflèt. Se pou n' asepte tou sa yo fè nou.
31 For the Lord will not reject for ever.
Bondye sèl Mèt la p'ap janm lage nou nèt.
32 CHAPH. For he that has brought down will pity, and [that] according to the abundance of his mercy.
Li ka fè nou lapenn, men l'ap gen pitye pou nou paske li renmen nou anpil.
33 He has not answered [in anger] from his heart, though he has brought low the children of a man.
Li pa pran plezi nan fè nou soufri, ni nan ban nou lapenn.
34 LAMED. To bring down under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Atò, se konnen Seyè a, Bondye sèl Mèt la, pa konnen lè y'ap kraze prizonye anba baton,
35 to turn aside the judgement of a man before the face of the Most High,
lè yo derefize rekonèt dwa Bondye ban nou,
36 to condemn a man [unjustly] in his judgement, the Lord has not given commandment.
lè y'ap bay move jijman nan tribinal! Atò, se konnen li pa konnen!
37 Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass? the Lord has not commanded it.
Depi Bondye Sèl Mèt la pale, se fini! Sa l' di se sak fèt.
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High there shall not come forth evil and good.
Tou sa ki rive an byen osinon an mal, se li menm ki penmèt sa.
39 MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?
Lè nou anba bwa pou peche nou yo sa nou bezwen plenyen fè!
40 NUN. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.
Annou gade jan n'ap mennen bak nou! Ann egzaminen byen jan n'ap viv la! Lèfini, ann tounen vin jwenn Bondye!
41 Let us lift up our hearts with [our] hand to the lofty One in heaven.
Ann leve bra nou nan syèl la, ann lapriyè nan pye l'!
42 We have sinned, we have transgressed; and you have not pardoned.
Nou peche, nou kenbe tèt avè ou! Men, ou menm ou pa padonnen nou.
43 SAMECH. You has visited [us] in wrath, and driven us away: you has slain, you has not pitied.
Ou move pi rèd, ou fann nan kò nou! Ou te san pitye. Ou touye nou.
44 You have veiled yourself with a cloud because of prayer, that I might be blind,
Ou vlope kò ou nan yon gwo nwaj nwa pou lapriyè nou pa rive nan zòrèy ou.
45 and be cast off. AIN. You have set us [alone] in the midst of the nations.
Ou fè nou tounen yon depotwa, yon pil fatra nan mitan lòt nasyon sou latè yo.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
Tout lènmi nou yo ap lave bouch yo sou nou.
47 Fear and wrath are come upon us, suspense and destruction.
N'ap viv ak kè sote, si se pa lanmò, se gwo danje, se gwo malè!
48 Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
De je m' yo ap ponpe dlo tankou larivyè, lè m' wè malè ki tonbe sou pèp mwen an!
49 PHE. Mine eye is drowned [with tears], and I will not be silent, so that there shall be no rest,
Dlo ap koule nan je m' san rete. Li p'ap janm sispann,
50 until the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
jouk jou Seyè a va rete nan syèl la, l'a voye je l' gade, l'a wè!
51 Mine eye shall prey upon my soul, because of all the daughters of the city.
Wi, kè m' fè m' mal pou m' wè sa ki rive moun lavil mwen yo!
52 TSADE. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow, all mine enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause,
Yon bann moun ki pa vle wè m' san m' pa fè yo anyen pran kouri dèyè m' tankou yon zwazo y'ap chache pran.
53 and laid a stone upon me.
Yo lage m' tou vivan nan yon twou. Yo fèmen bouch twou a ak wòch.
54 Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
Dlo te prèt pou kouvri tèt mwen. Mwen di: Fwa sa a m' pran!
55 KOPH. I called upon your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.
Nan twou kote m' te ye a, Seyè, mwen rele ou!
56 You heard my voice: close not your ears to my supplication.
Ou tande vwa m'. Tanpri, pa bouche zòrèy ou lè m'ap lapriyè nan pye ou.
57 You drew near to my help: in the day wherein I called upon you you said to me, Fear not.
Wi, lè m' rele ou, ou pwoche. Ou di m' mwen pa bezwen pè!
58 RECHS. O Lord, you has pleaded the causes of my soul; you has redeemed my life.
Bondye Sèl Mèt, ou pran ka m' an konsiderasyon. Ou sove lavi m'.
59 You have seen, O Lord, my troubles: you have judged my cause.
Seyè, ou wè tout lenjistis y'ap fè m'. Tanpri, defann kòz mwen.
60 You have seen all their vengeance, [you have looked] on all their devices against me.
Ou wè jan yo soti pou pwofite sou mwen, jan y'ap fè konplo pou touye m'.
61 CHSEN. You have heard their reproach [and] all their devices against me;
Seyè, ou tande jan y'ap joure m'. Ou konnen konplo y'ap fè sou do m'.
62 the lips of them that rose up against me, and their plots against me all the day;
Tout lajounen, y'ap pale sou mwen, y'ap fè plan.
63 their sitting down and their rising up: look you upon their eyes.
Gade yo non! Depi maten jouk aswè yo chita ap fè chante sou do m'!
64 You will render them a recompense, O Lord, according to the works of their hands.
Seyè, se pou ou pini yo pou tou sa yo fè.
65 THAU. You will give them [as] a covering, the grief of my heart.
Madichonnen yo! Fè yo pèdi tèt yo!
66 You will persecute them in anger, and will consume them from under the heaven, O Lord.
Move sou yo, Seyè! Pati dèyè yo! Disparèt yo sou latè!
