< Judges 1 >

1 And it came to pass after the death of Joshua, that the children of Israel enquired of the Lord, saying, Who shall go up for us first against the Chananites, to fight against them?
Ary rehefa maty Josoa, dia nanontany tamin’ i Jehovah ny Zanak’ Isiraely hoe: Iza no hiakatra voalohany hiady amin’ ny Kananita ho anay?
2 And the Lord said, Judas shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
Dia hoy Jehovah: Joda no hiakatra; indro, efa nanolotra ny tany ho eo an-tànany Aho.
3 And Judas said to his brother Symeon, Come up with me into my lot, and let us array ourselves against the Chananites, and I also will go with you into your lot: and Symeon went with him.
Ary hoy Joda tamin’ i Simeona rahalahiny: Andeha hiara-miakatra amiko ianao ho any amin’ ny lovako, ka aoka isika hiady amin’ ny Kananita; ary izaho kosa dia handeha hiaraka aminao ho any amin’ ny lovanao. Ary Simeona dia nandeha niaraka taminy.
4 And Judas went up; and the Lord delivered the Chananite and the Pherezite into their hands, and they struck them in Bezek to [the number of] ten thousand men.
Dia niakatra Joda, ary natolotr’ i Jehovah teo an-tànany ny Kananita sy ny Perizita, ka nahafaty iray alin-dahy tany Bezeka izy.
5 And they overtook Adonibezek in Bezek, and fought against him; and they struck the Chananite and the Pherezite.
Ary nahita an’ i Adoni-bezeka tany Bezeka izy, dia niady taminy ka naharesy ny Kananita sy ny Perizita.
6 And Adonibezek fled, and they pursued after him, and took him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
Nefa nandositra Adoni-bezeka; ary nanenjika azy izy ireto ka nisambotra azy, dia nanapaka ny ankihiben-tànany sy ny ankihiben-tongony.
7 And Adonibezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered [their food] under my table: as I therefore have done, so God has recompensed me: and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
Ary hoy Adoni-bezeka: Mpanjaka fito-polo voatapaka ny ankihiben-tànany sy ny ankihiben-tongony no nitsindroka hanina teo ambanin’ ny latabatro; ka mba tahaka ny nataoko ihany lahy ity no navalin’ Andriamanitra ahy! Ary nentin’ ireo ho any Jerosalema izy ka maty tany.
8 And the children of Judas fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and struck with the edge of the sword, and they burnt the city with fire.
Ary namely an’ i Jerosalema ny taranak’ i Joda, ka nahafaka azy, dia namely azy tamin’ ny lelan-tsabatra ka nandoro ny tanàna.
9 And afterwards the children of Judas went down to fight with the Chananite dwelling in the hill country, and the south, and the plain country.
Ary rehefa afaka izany, dia nidina ny taranak’ i Joda hiady amin’ ny Kananita izay nonina tany amin’ ny tany havoana sy tany amin’ ny tany atsimo ary tany amin’ ny tany lemaka amoron-tsiraka.
10 And Judas went to the Chananite who lived in Chebron; and Chebron came out against him; [and the name of Chebron before was Cariatharbocsepher: ] and they struck Sessi, and Achiman, and Tholmi, children of Enac.
Dia nandeha Joda hiady amin’ ny Kananita, izay nonina tany Hebrona (Kiriat-arba no anaran’ i Hebrona taloha), ka namono an’ i Sesay sy Ahimana ary Talmay.
11 And they went up thence to the inhabitants of Dabir; but the name of Dabir was before Cariathsepher, the city of Letters.
Dia niala tao izy ka nandeha hiady amin’ ny mponina any Debira (Kiriata-sefera no anaran’ i Debira taloha).
12 And Chaleb said, Whosoever shall strike the city of Letters, and shall first take it, I will give to him Ascha my daughter to wife.
Ary hoy Kaleba: Izay mamely an’ i Kiriata-sefera ka mahafaka azy dia homeko azy Aksa zanako-vavy ho vadiny.
13 And Gothoniel the younger son of Kenez the brother of Chaleb took it; and Chaleb gave him his daughter Ascha to wife.
Ary Otniela, zanakalahin’ i Kenaza, zandrin’ i Kaleba, no nahafaka azy; ka dia nomeny azy Aksa zananivavy ho vadiny.
14 And it came to pass as she went in, that Gothoniel urged her to ask a field of her father; and she murmured and cried from off her ass, You have sent me forth into a south land: and Chaleb said to her, What is your request?
Ary rehefa voampakatra ravehivavy, dia nanome vava ny lahy hangataka saha tamin-drainy; dia niala faingana tamin’ ny borikiny izy, ka hoy Kaleba taminy: Inona moa no ilainao?
15 And Ascha said to him, Give me, I pray you, a blessing, for you have sent me forth into a south land, and you shall give me the ransom of water: and Chaleb gave her according to her heart the ransom of the upper [springs] and the ransom of the low [springs].
Ary hoy izy: Omeo tso-drano aho; fa tany tsy misy rano no nomenao ahy ka mba omeo loharano koa aho. Dia nomen’ i Kaleba azy ny loharano ambony sy ny loharano ambany.
16 And the children of Jothor the Kenite the father-in-law of Moses went up from the city of palm-trees with the children of Judas, to the wilderness that is in the south of Juda, which is at the descent of Arad, and they lived with the people.
Ary ny taranak’ ilay Kenita, zaodahin’ i Mosesy dia niara-niakatra tamin’ ny taranak’ i Joda niala tao amin’ ny tanàna be rofia hankany an-efitr’ i Joda, atsimon’ i Arada nandeha ireo ka nonina teo amin’ ny Isiraely.
17 And Judas went with Symeon his brother, and struck the Chananite that inhabited Sepheth, and they utterly destroyed them; and they called the name of the city Anathema.
Ary Joda nandeha niaraka tamin’ i Simeona rahalahiny, dia namely ny Kananita, izay nonina tany Zefata, ka nataony ringana ireo, ary ny anaran’ ny tanàna nataony hoe Horma.
18 But Judas did not inherit Gaza nor her coasts, nor Ascalon nor her coasts, nor Accaron nor her coasts, [nor] Azotus nor the lands around it.
Dia afak’ i Joda Gaza sy ny sisin-taniny an Askelona sy ny sisin-taniny ary Ekrona sy ny sisin-taniny.
19 And the Lord was with Judas, and he inherited the mountain; for they were not able to destroy the inhabitants of the valley, for Rechab prevented them.
Ary Jehovah nomba an’ i Joda, ka dia azony ny tany havoana; nefa tsy naharoaka ny mponina teny amin’ ny tany lemaka izy, satria nanana kalesy vy ireny.
20 And they gave Chebron to Chaleb, as Moses said; and thence he inherited the three cities of the children of Enac.
Ary Hebrona dia nomeny an’ i Kaleba, araka izay efa nolazain’ i Mosesy, ka noroahin’ i Kaleba niala tao izy telo lahy, taranaky ny Anakita.
21 But the children of Benjamin did not take the inheritance of the Jebusite who lived in Jerusalem; and the Jebusite lived with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem until this day.
Ary ny taranak’ i Benjamina tsy nandroaka ny Jebosita, izay mponina any Jerosalema; fa ny Jebosita dia miara-monina amin’ ny taranak’ i Benjamina any Jerosalema ihany mandraka androany.
22 And the sons of Joseph, they also went up to Baethel; and the Lord was with them.
Ary ny taranak’ i Josefa dia niakatra koa hamely an’ i Betela; ary Jehovah nomba azy.
23 And they encamped and surveyed Baethel: and the name of the city before was Luza.
Dia naniraka hisafo an’ i Betela ny taranak’ i Josefa (Lozy no anaran’ ny tanàna taloha);
24 And the spies looked, and behold, a man went out of the city, and they took him; and they said to him, Show us the way into the city, and we will deal mercifully with you.
ary nahita lehilahy anankiray nivoaka avy tao an-tanàna ny mpisafo ka nanao taminy hoe: Mba atoroy kely anay ny fidirana mankao an-tanàna, dia hamindra fo aminao izahay.
25 And he showed them the way into the city; and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and his family.
Dia natoron-dralehilahy azy ny fidirana mankao an-tanàna, ka dia nasiany tamin’ ny lelan-tsabatra ny tanàna; fa ralehilahy sy ny mpianakaviny rehetra dia navelany handeha.
26 And the man went into the land of Chettin, and built there a city, and called the name of it Luza; this [is] its name until this day.
Ary nandeha ho any amin’ ny tanin’ ny Hetita ralehilahy, ka nanorina tanàna izy, ary ny anarany dia nataony hoe Lozy, ary mbola izany ihany no anarany mandraka androany.
27 And Manasse did not drive out [the inhabitants of] Baethsan, which is a city of Scythians, nor her towns, nor her suburbs; nor Thanac, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Dor, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitant of Balac, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Magedo, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Jeblaam, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; and the Chananite began to dwell in this land.
Ary Manase tsy nahafaka an’ i Beti-sana sy ny zana-bohiny, na Tanaka sy ny zana-bohiny, sady tsy naharoaka ny mponina tany Dora sy ny zana-bohiny, na ny mponina tany Ibleama sy ny zana-bohiny, na ny mponina tany Megido sy ny zana-bohiny, satria tian’ ny Kananita hitoerana indrindra izany tany izany.
28 And it came to pass when Israel was strong, that he made the Chananite tributary, but did not utterly drive them out.
Fa rehefa nihahery kosa ny Isiraely, dia nampanaoviny fanompoana ny Kananita, fa tsy nandroaka azy rehetra izy.
29 And Ephraim did not drive out the Chananite that lived in Gazer; and the Chananite lived in the midst of him in Gazer, and became tributary.
Ary Efraima tsy nandroaka ny Kananita, izay nonina tany Gazera; fa nonina teo aminy tany Gazera ny Kananita.
30 And Zabulon did not drive out the inhabitants of Kedron, nor the inhabitants of Domana: and the Chananite lived in the midst of them, and became tributary to them.
Zebolona tsy nandroaka ny mponina tany Kitrona, na ny mponina tany Nahalola; fa nonina teo aminy ny Kananita ka nampanaovina fanompoana.
31 And Aser did not drive out the inhabitants of Accho, and [that people] became tributary to him, nor the inhabitants of Dor, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor the inhabitants of Dalaph, nor Aschazi, nor Chebda, nor Nai, nor Ereo.
Asera tsy nandroaka ny mponina tany Ako, na ny mponina tany Sidona, na ny tany Alaba, na ny tany Akziba, na ny tany Helba, na ny tany Afika, na ny tany Rehoba;
32 And Aser lived in the midst of the Chananite who inhabited the land, for he could not drive him out.
fa nonina teo amin’ ny Kananita tompon-tany ny taranak’ i Asera, fa tsy nandroaka azy.
33 And Nephthali did not drive out the inhabitants of Baethsamys, nor the inhabitants of Baethanach; and Nephthali lived in the midst of the Chananite who inhabited the land: but the inhabitants of Bethsamys and of Baetheneth became tributary to them.
Naftaly tsy nandroaka ny mponina tany Beti-semesy, na ny mponina tany Bet-anata; fa nonina teo amin’ ny Kananita tompon-tany izy, kanefa nampanaoviny fanompoana ny mponina tany Beti-semesy sy Bet-anata.
34 And the Amorite drove out the children of Dan into the mountains, for they did not suffer them to come down into the valley.
Ary ny Amorita nanesika ny taranak’ i Dana ho any amin’ ny tany havoana, fa tsy namela azy hidina ho any amin’ ny tany lemaka,
35 And the Amorite began to dwell in the mountain of shells, in which [are] bears, and foxes, in Myrsinon, and in Thalabin; and the hand of the house of Joseph was heavy upon the Amorite, and he became tributary to them.
fa tian’ ny Amorita hitoerana indrindra ny tendrombohitra Heresa sy ny tany Aialona sy Salbima; nefa nahery ny tanan’ ny taranak’ i Josefa, ka dia nampanaovina fanompoana ireo.
36 And the border of the Amorite [was] from the going up of Acrabin, from the rock and upwards.
Ary ny fari-tanin’ ny Amorita dia hatramin’ ny fiakarana Akrabima ka hatramin’ ilay harambato no ho mankany.
