Job 1
1 There was a certain man in the land of Ausis, whose name [was] Job; and than man was true, blameless, righteous, [and] godly, abstaining from everything evil.
ऊज भन्ने देशमा एक जना मानिस थिए जसको नाउँ अय्यूब थियो । अनि अय्यूब दोषरहित र सोझा थिए जो परमेश्वरको भय मान्थे, र खराबीबाट फर्कन्थे ।
2 And he had seven sons and three daughters.
तिनका सात जना छोरा र तीन जना छोरी जन्मिएका थिए ।
3 And his cattle consisted of seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred she-asses in the pastures, and a very great household, and he had a great husbandry on the earth; and that man was [most] noble of the [men] of the east.
तिनका सात हजारवटा भेडा, तिन हजारवटा ऊँट, पाँच सय हल गोरु अनि पाँच सयवटा गधा अनि धेरै जना नोकरहरू थिए । तिनी पूर्वमा भएका सबै मानिसहरूमध्ये सबभन्दा महान् मानिस थिए ।
4 And his sons visiting one another prepared a banquet every day, taking with them also their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
हरेक छोरोको निम्ति तोकिएको दिनमा तिनले आफ्नो घरमा भोज दिन्थे । तिनीहरूले आफ्ना तीन दिदीबहिनीलाई बोलाउन पठाउँथे र सँगै खाने र पिउने गर्थे ।
5 And when the days of the banquet were completed, Job sent and purified them, having risen up in the morning, and offered sacrifices for them, according to their number, and one calf for a sin-offering for their souls: for Job said, Lest perhaps my sons have thought evil in their minds against God. Thus, then Job did continually.
जब भोजका दिनहरू समाप्त हुन्थे, तब अय्यूबले तिनीहरूलाई बोलाउन पठाउँथे र तिनले तिनीहरूलाई शुद्ध पार्थे । तिनी बिहान सबेरै उठ्थे, र आफ्ना हरेक छोराछोरीका लागि होमबलिहरू चढाउँथे, किनकि तिनले यसो भन्थे, “मेरा छोराछोरीले पाप गरेका अनि आ-आफ्ना हृदयमा परमेश्वरलाई सरापेका हुन सक्छन् ।” अय्यूबले सधैं यसै गर्थै ।
6 And it came to pass on a day, that behold, the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came with them.
तब एक दिन परमेश्वरका छोराहरू परमप्रभुको सामु उपस्थित हुन आए । शैतान पनि तिनीहरूसँगै आयो ।
7 And the Lord said to the devil, Whence are you come? And the devil answered the Lord, and said, I am come from compassing the earth, and walking up and down in the world.
परमप्रभुले शैतानलाई सोध्नुभयो, “तँ कहाँबाट आइस्?” शैतानले परमप्रभुलाई जवाफ दियो र भन्यो, “पृथ्वीमा घुमेर, त्यसमा यता र उता गएर आएको हुँ ।”
8 And the Lord said to him, Hast you diligently considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a man blameless, true, godly, abstaining from everything evil?
परमप्रभुले त्यसलाई भन्नुभयो, “के तैंले मेरो दास अय्यूबलाई विचार गरेको छस्? किनकि पृथ्वीमा त्योजस्तो दोषरहित र सोझो मानिस कोही छैन जो परमेश्वरको भय मान्छ र खराबीबाट अलग बस्छ ।”
9 Then the devil answered, and said before the Lord, Does Job worship the Lord for nothing?
तब शैतानले परमप्रभुलाई जवाफ दियो र भन्यो, “के अय्यूबले विनाकारण परमेश्वरको भय मान्छन् र?
10 Hast you not made a hedge about him, and about his household, and all his possessions round about? and have you not blessed the works of his hands, and multiplied his cattle upon the land?
के तिनी, तिनको घर र तिनीसित भएका सबै थोकको चारैतिर हरेक कुनाबाट बार लगाएर तपाईंले सुरक्षा दिनुभएको छैन र? तपाईंले तिनका हातका कामहरूलाई आशिष् दिनुभएको छ, र तिनका गाईवस्तुहरू देशभरि भएका छन् ।
11 But put forth your hand, and touch all that he has: verily he will bless you to [your] face.
तर अब आफ्नो हात पसार्नुहोस् र तिनीसित भएका सबै थोकलाई छुनुहोस्, र हेर्नुहोस् कतै तिनले तपाईंको मुखैमा तपाईंलाई सराप्ने त छैनन् ।”
12 Then the Lord said to the devil, Behold, I give into your hand all that he has, but touch not himself. So the devil went out from the presence of the Lord.
परमप्रभुले शैतानलाई भन्नुभयो, “हेर्, त्योसित भएका सबै थोक तेरै हातमा छ । त्यसलाई मात्र तेरो हातले नछो ।” तब परमप्रभुको उपस्थितिबाट शैतान तुरुन्तै गयो ।
13 And it came to pass on a certain day, that Job's sons and his daughters were drinking wine in the house of their elder brother.
कुनै एक दिनमा यस्तो भयो, तिनका छोराहरू र छोरीहरू आफ्ना जेठा दाजुको घरमा खाँदै र पिउँदै थिए ।
14 And, behold, there came a messenger to Job, and said to him, The yokes of oxen were ploughing, and the she-asses were feeding near them;
एउटा समाचारवाहक अय्यूबकहाँ आयो र भन्यो, “आफ्ना छेउमै गोरुहरू जोतिरहेका थिए, र गधाहरू चरिरहेका थिए ।
15 and the spoilers came and took them for a prey, and killed the servants with the sword; and I having escaped alone am come to tell you.
तब शबीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई झम्टे र ती लिएर गए । नोकरहरूका विषयमा, तिनीहरूले उनीहरूलाई तरवारको धारले प्रहार गरे । तपाईंलाई खबर दिनलाई म मात्रै उम्केको छु ।”
16 While he was yet speaking, there came another messenger, and said to Job, Fire has fallen from heaven, and burnt up the sheep, and devoured the shepherds like wise; and I having escaped alone am come to tell you.
जब त्यो बोलिरहेकै थियो, तब अर्को पनि आयो र भन्यो, “आकाशबाट परमेश्वरको आगो झर्यो अनि भेडाहरू र नोकरहरूलाई भस्म पार्यो । तपाईंलाई खबर दिनलाई म मात्रै उम्केको छु ।”
17 While he was yet speaking, there came another messenger, and said to Job, The horsemen formed three companies against us, and surrounded the camels, and took them for a prey, and killed the servants with the sword; and I only escaped, and am come to tell you.
जब त्यो बोलिरहेकै थियो, तब अर्को पनि आयो र भन्यो, “कल्दीहरूले तिनवटा समूह बनाएर ऊँटहरूलाई आक्रमण गरे र ती लिएर गएका छन् । नोकरहरूका विषयमा, तिनीहरूले उनीहरूलाई तरवारको धारले प्रहार गरे । तपाईंलाई खबर दिनलाई म मात्रै उम्केको छु ।”
18 While he is yet speaking, another messenger comes, saying to Job, While your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking with their elder brother,
जब त्यो बोलिरहेकै थियो, तब अर्को पनि आयो र भन्यो, “तपाईंका छोराहरू र तपाईंका छोरीहरू आफ्नो जेठो दाजुको घरमा खाँदै र मद्य पिउँदै थिए ।
19 suddenly a great wind came on from the desert, and caught the four corners of the house, and the house fell upon your children, and they are dead; and I have escaped alone, and am come to tell you.
उजाड-स्थानबाट एउटा प्रचण्ड आँधी आयो र घरका चारै कुनालाई प्रहार गर्यो । ती युवायुवतीमाथि त्यो ढल्यो, र तिनीहरूको मृत्यु भयो । तपाईंलाई खबर दिनलाई म मात्रै उम्केको छु ।”
20 So Job arose, and tore his garments, and shaved the hair of his head, and fell on the earth, and worshipped,
तब अय्यूब उठे, आफ्नो लुगा च्याते, कपाल खौरे, भुइँमा घोप्टो परे र परमेश्वरको आराधना गरे ।
21 and said, I myself came forth naked from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there; the Lord gave, the Lord has taken away: as it seemed good to the Lord, so has it come to pass; blessed be the name of the Lord.
तिनले भने, “मेरी आमाको गर्भबाट निस्कँदा म नाङ्गै थिएँ, र म त्यहाँ फर्केर जाँदा पनि नाङ्गै हुनेछु । परमप्रभुले दिनुभयो, र परमप्रभुले नै लानुभएको छ । परमप्रभुको नाउँको धन्य होस् ।”
22 In all these events that befell him Job sinned not at all before the Lord, and did not impute folly to God.
यी सबै कुरामा अय्यूबले पाप गरेनन्, न त तिनले परमेश्वरलाई गलत गरेको भनेर दोष लगाए ।
