Job 38
1 And after Elius had ceased from speaking, the Lord spoke to Job through the whirlwind and clouds, [saying],
Y el Señor respondió a Job desde el viento de tormenta, y dijo:
2 Who is this that hides counsel from me, and confines words in [his] heart, and thinks to conceal [them] from me?
¿Quién es este que hace que el consejo de Dios sea oscuro por palabras sin conocimiento?
3 Gird your loins like a man; and I will ask you, and do you answer me.
Reúne tus fuerzas como un hombre de guerra; Te haré preguntas y tú me darás las respuestas.
4 Where was you when I founded the earth? tell me now, if you have knowledge,
¿Dónde estabas cuando puse la tierra en su base? Dimelo, si tienes conocimiento.
5 who set the measures of it, if you know? or who stretched a line upon it?
¿Por quién fueron fijadas sus medidas? si tienes sabiduría; ¿O por quién se extendía la línea sobre ella?
6 On what are its rings fastened? and who is he that laid the corner-stone upon it?
¿En qué se basaron sus pilares, o quién dejó su piedra angular,
7 When the stars were made, all my angels praised me with a loud voice.
¿Cuando las estrellas de la mañana hicieron canciones juntas, y todos los hijos de Dios dieron gritos de alegría?
8 And I shut up the sea with gates, when it rushed out, coming forth out its mother's womb.
¿O dónde estabas cuando nació el mar, saliendo de su lugar secreto;
9 And I made a cloud its clothing, and swathed it in mist.
Cuando hice la túnica de la nube y puse nubes gruesas como faja alrededor de ella.
10 And I set bounds to it, surrounding it with bars and gates.
Ordenando un límite fijo para ello, con cerraduras y puertas;
11 And I said to it, Hitherto shall you come, but you shall not go beyond, but your waves shall be confined within you.
Y dijo: Hasta aquí puedes llegar, y no más allá; ¿Y aquí se detendrá el orgullo de tus olas?
12 Or did I order the morning light in your time; and [did] the morning star [then first] see his appointed place;
¿Has dado órdenes desde la madrugada hasta la mañana o has hecho consciente a la aurora de su lugar?
13 to lay hold of the extremities of the earth, to cast out the ungodly out of it?
¿Para que pueda difundir su luz a la tierra, sacudiendo a todos los que hacen el mal?
14 Or did you take clay of the ground, and form a living creature, and set it with the power of speech upon the earth?
Se cambia como barro bajo un sello, y se colorea como una túnica;
15 And have you removed light from the ungodly, and crushed the arm of the proud?
Y de los malhechores es quitada su luz, y se rompe el brazo del orgulloso.
16 Or have you gone to the source of the sea, and walked in the tracks of the deep?
¿Has venido a los manantiales del mar, caminando en los lugares secretos de las profundidades?
17 And do the gates of death open to you for fear; and did the porters of hell quake when they saw you? (questioned)
¿Te han abierto las puertas de la muerte, o te han visto los guardianes de las puertas de la oscuridad?
18 And have you been instructed in the breadth of the [whole earth] under heaven? tell me now, what is the extent of it?
¿Has tomado nota de los amplios límites de la tierra? Declara, si tienes conocimiento de todo.
19 And in what kind of a land does the light dwell? and of what kind is the place of darkness?
Cuál es camino donde mora la luz y las tinieblas. Donde es este lugar?
20 If you could bring me to their [utmost] boundaries, and if also you know their paths;
Para que lo lleves a su límite, y entenderás el camino a su casa.
21 I know then that you were born at that time, and the number of your years is great.
Sin duda tienes conocimiento de ello, pues entonces naciste y el número de tus días es grande.
22 But have you gone to the treasures of snow? and have you seen the treasures of hail?
¿Has venido al lugar secreto de la nieve, o has visto los almacenes del granizo,
23 And is there a store [of them], for you against the time of [your] enemies, for the day of wars and battle?
¿Qué he guardado para el tiempo de angustia, para el día de la guerra y la lucha?
24 And whence proceeds the frost? or [whence] is the south wind dispersed over the [whole world] under heaven?
¿Cuál es el camino a donde se reparte la luz, y el viento del este esparcido sobre la tierra?
25 And who prepared a course for the violent rain, and a way for the thunders;
¿Por quién ha sido dividido un canal para él diluvio o un camino para él estruendo del relámpago?
26 to rain upon the land where [there is] no man, the wilderness, where there is not a man in it; so as to feed the untrodden and uninhabited [land],
Causando que la lluvia caiga en una tierra donde ningún hombre vive, en el desierto que no tiene gente;
27 and cause it to send forth a crop of green herbs?
Dar agua a la tierra donde hay desperdicio y destrucción, y hacer que produzca una fuente de retoños.
28 Who is the rain's father? and who has generated the drops of dew?
¿Tiene la lluvia un padre? ¿O quién dio a luz al rocío?
29 And out of whose womb comes the ice? and who has produced the frost in the sky,
¿De cuyo cuerpo salió el hielo? ¿Y quién dio a luz a la escarcha del cielo?
30 which descends like flowing water? who has terrified the face of the ungodly?
Las aguas se unen, duras como una piedra, y se cubre la faz de la profundidad.
31 And do you understand the band of Pleias, and have you opened the barrier of Orion?
¿Puedes arreglar un cúmulo de estrellas, o soltar los cordones de Orión?
32 Or will you reveal Mazuroth in his season, and the evening star with his rays? Will you guide them?
¿Haces que las constelaciones salgan en el momento adecuado, o guías a la Osa y sus estrellas?
33 And know you the changes of heaven, or the events which take place together under heaven?
¿Tienes conocimiento de las leyes de los cielos? ¿Les diste dominio sobre la tierra?
34 And will you call a cloud with your voice, and will it obey you with a violent shower of much rain?
¿Puedes alzar tu voz a las nubes para que te inunden las aguas?
35 And will you send lightnings, and they shall go? and shall they say to you, What is [your pleasure]?
¿Enviar los truenos para que vayan y te digan: “Aquí estamos?”
36 And who has given to women skill in weaving, or knowledge of embroidery?
¿Quién ha puesto sabiduría en lo más profundo, o ha dado conocimiento a la mente?
37 And who is he that numbers the clouds in wisdom, and has bowed the heaven [down] to the earth?
Quien por sabiduría puede contar las nubes, Quién puede inclinarlas para que den lluvia, Quién las hace parar.
38 For it is spread out as dusty earth, and I have cemented it as one hewn stone to another.
¿Cuando el polvo se endurece, y los terrones se pegan entre sí?
39 And will you hunt a prey for the lions? and satisfy the desires of the serpents?
¿Buscas comida para él león, o para que sus cachorros sacien su apetito?
40 For they fear in their lairs, and lying in wait couch in the woods.
¿Cuándo están echados en las cuevas, y están esperando en la maleza para acechar?
41 And who has prepared food for the raven? for its young ones wander and cry to the Lord, in search of food.
¿Quién da a los cuervos por la tarde la carne que está buscando, cuando sus crías están llorando a Dios? Y van vagando sin comida?
