< Job 17 >

1 I perish, carried away by the wind, and I seek for burial, and obtain [it] not.
Roho wakwa nĩmũthuthĩku, matukũ makwa nĩmathirĩte, mbĩrĩra nĩyo ĩnjetereire.
2 Weary I entreat; and what have I done? and strangers have stolen my goods.
Ti-itherũ thiũrũrũkĩirio nĩ andũ a kũũnyũrũria; maitho makwa no nginya meerorere rũmena rwao.
3 Who is this? let him join hands with me.
“Wee Ngai-rĩ, ta kĩĩhe kĩndũ gĩa kũrũgamĩrĩra thiirĩ wakwa kĩrĩa ũretia, tondũ-rĩ, nũũ ũngĩ ũngĩĩtĩkĩra kũruta kĩndũ gĩake kĩĩndũgamĩrĩre?
4 For you have hid their heart from wisdom; therefore you shall not exalt them.
Wee nĩwaagithĩtie meciiria mao ũmenyo; nĩ ũndũ ũcio ndũngĩmetĩkĩria mahootane.
5 He shall promise mischief to [his] companions: but [their] eyes have failed for [their] children.
Mũndũ angĩkaana arata ake nĩ ũndũ wa kĩheo-rĩ, maitho ma ciana ciake nĩmakoora.
6 But you has made me a byword amount the nations, and I am become a scorn to them.
“Ngai nĩanduĩte mũndũ wa kuunwo thimo nĩ andũ othe, nduĩkĩte mũndũ wa gũtuagĩrwo mata ũthiũ nĩ andũ.
7 For my eyes are dimmed through pain; I have been grievously beset by all.
Maitho makwa nĩ maroora nĩ gwĩthikĩra; ciĩga ciakwa ciothe ihũthĩte o ta kĩĩruru.
8 Wonder has seized true men upon this; and let the just rise up against the transgressor.
Andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru nĩmagegetio nĩ ũhoro ũcio; andũ arĩa matarĩ na ũũru mekĩte nĩmarahũkĩte mokĩrĩre andũ arĩa matooĩ Ngai.
9 But let the faithful hold on his own way, and let him that is pure of hands take courage.
O na kũrĩ ũguo-rĩ, arĩa athingu nĩmarĩrũmagia njĩra ciao, nao arĩa marĩ moko matheru nĩmarĩongagĩrĩrwo hinya.
10 Howbeit, do you all strengthen [yourselves] and come now, for I do not find truth in you.
“No rĩrĩ, ta gĩũkei inyuothe, geriai o rĩngĩ! Niĩ ndirĩ ndĩrona mũndũ mũũgĩ gatagatĩ kanyu.
11 My days have passed in groaning, and my heart-strings are broken.
Matukũ makwa nĩ mathiru, mĩbango yakwa nĩmĩharaganie, o na merirĩria ma ngoro yakwa.
12 I have turned the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
Andũ aya magarũraga ũtukũ makaũtua mũthenya; nduma yamakinyĩrĩra moigaga atĩrĩ, ‘Ũtheri ũrĩ o hakuhĩ.’
13 For if I remain, Hades is my habitation: and my bed has been made in darkness. (Sheol h7585)
Angĩkorwo mũciĩ ũrĩa njĩrĩgĩrĩire no mbĩrĩra, angĩkorwo ingĩara ũrĩrĩ wakwa o nduma-inĩ-rĩ, (Sheol h7585)
14 I have called upon death to be my father, and corruption [to be] my mother and sister.
angĩkorwo no njĩĩre ũhoro wa kũbutha atĩrĩ, ‘Wee nĩwe baba,’ na njĩĩre kĩgunyũ atĩrĩ, ‘Wee nĩwe maitũ’ kana ‘Nĩwe mwarĩ wa maitũ-rĩ’,
15 Where then is yet my hope? or [where] shall I see my good?
mwĩhoko wakwa ũkĩrĩ kũ? Nũũ ũngĩnyonera mwĩhoko?
16 Will they go down with me to Hades, or shall we go down together to the tomb? (Sheol h7585)
Na rĩrĩ, mwĩhoko nĩũharũrũkĩte nginya ihingo-inĩ cia gĩkuũ? Nĩtũgũgĩikũrũkania hamwe rũkũngũ-inĩ?” (Sheol h7585)
