Job 12
1 And Job answered and said,
| آنگاه ایوب پاسخ داد: |
2 So then you [alone] are men, and wisdom shall die with you?
| آیا فکر می‌کنید عقل کل هستید؟ و اگر بمیرید حکمت هم با شما خواهد مرد؟ |
3 [But] I also have a heart as well as you.
| من هم مثل شما فهم دارم و از شما کمتر نیستم. کیست که این چیزهایی را که شما گفته‌اید نداند؟ |
4 For a righteous and blameless man has become a subject for mockery.
| اکنون مایه خنده دوستان خود شده‌ام زیرا خدا را می‌طلبم و انتظار پاسخ او را می‌کشم. آری، مرد درستکار و بی‌عیب مورد تمسخر واقع شده است. |
5 For it had been ordained that he should fall under others at the appointed time, and that his houses should be spoiled by transgressors: let not however any one trust that, being evil, he shall be [held] guiltless,
| اشخاصی که آسوده هستند رنجدیدگان را اهانت می‌کنند و افتادگان را خوار می‌شمارند. |
6 even as many as provoke the Lord, as if there were indeed to be no inquisition [made] of them.
| دزدان و خدانشناسان اگرچه به قدرتشان متکی هستند و نه به خدا، ولی در امنیت و آسایشند. |
7 But ask now the beasts, if they may speak to you; and the birds of the air, if they may declare to you.
| کیست که آنچه را شما می‌گویید نداند؟ حتی اگر از حیوانات و پرندگان هم بپرسید این چیزها را به شما یاد خواهند داد. اگر از زمین و دریا سؤال کنید به شما خواهند گفت که دست خداوند این همه را آفریده است. |
8 Tell the earth, if it may speak to you: and the fishes of the sea shall explain to you.
9 Who then has not known in all these things, that the hand of the Lord has made them?
10 Whereas the life of all living things is in his hand, and the breath of every man.
| جان هر موجود زنده و نفس تمام بشر در دست خداست. |
11 For the ear tries words, and the palate tastes meats.
| درست همان‌طور که دهانم مزهٔ خوراک خوب را می‌فهمد، همچنان وقتی حقیقت را می‌شنوم گوشم آن را تشخیص می‌دهد. |
12 In length of time is wisdom, and in long life knowledge.
| شما می‌گویید: «اشخاص پیر حکیم هستند و همه چیز را درک می‌کنند.» |
13 With him are wisdom and power, with him counsel and understanding.
| اما حکمت و قدرت واقعی از آن خداست. فقط او می‌داند که چه باید کرد. |
14 If he should cast down, who will build up? if he should shut up against man, who shall open?
| آنچه را که او خراب کند دوباره نمی‌توان بنا کرد. وقتی که او عرصه را بر انسان تنگ نماید، راه گریزی نخواهد بود. |
15 If he should withhold the water, he will dry the earth: and if he should let it loose, he overthrows and destroys it.
| او جلوی باران را می‌گیرد و زمین خشک می‌شود. طوفانها می‌فرستد و زمین را غرق آب می‌کند. |
16 With him are strength and power: he has knowledge and understanding.
| آری، قدرت و حکمت از آن اوست. فریب‌دهندگان و فریب‌خوردگان هر دو در دست او هستند. |
17 He leads counsellors away captive, and maddens the judges of the earth.
| او حکمت مشاوران و رهبران را از آنها می‌گیرد و آنها را احمق می‌سازد. |
18 He seats kings upon thrones, and girds their loins with a girdle.
| ردای پادشاهی را از تن پادشاهان درآورده، بر کمرشان بند می‌نهد و آنها را به اسارت می‌برد. |
19 He sends away priests into captivity, and overthrows the mighty ones of the earth.
| کاهنان را پست می‌سازد و زورمندان را سرنگون می‌نماید. |
20 He changes the lips of the trusty, and he knows the understanding of the elders.
| صدای سخنوران و بصیرت ریش‌سفیدان را از ایشان می‌گیرد. |
21 He pours dishonour upon princes, and heals the lowly.
| بزرگان را حقیر و صاحبان قدرت را خلع سلاح می‌سازد. |
22 Revealing deep things out of darkness: and he has brought into light the shadow of death.
| او اسرار نهفته در تاریکی را فاش می‌سازد و تیرگی و ظلمت را به روشنایی تبدیل می‌کند. |
23 Causing the nations to wander, and destroying them: overthrowing the nations, and leading them [away].
| قومها را نیرومند می‌سازد، سپس آنها را نابود می‌کند؛ قبیله‌ها را زیاد می‌کند، سپس آنها را به اسارت می‌فرستد. |
24 Perplexing the minds of the princes of the earth: and he causes them to wander in a way, they have not known, [saying],
| رهبران ممالک را احمق ساخته، حیران و سرگردان رها می‌سازد |
25 Let them grope [in] darkness, and [let there be] no light, and let them wander as a drunken man.
| و آنها در تاریکی مثل کورها راه می‌روند و مانند مستها تلوتلو می‌خورند. |
