Job 11
1 Then Sophar the Minaean answered and said,
Därefter tog Sofar från Naama till orda och sade:
2 He that speaks much, should also hear on the other side: or does the fluent speaker think himself to be righteous? blessed [is] the short lived offspring of woman.
Skall sådant ordflöde bliva utan svar och en så stortalig man få rätt?
3 Be not a speaker of many words; for is there none to answer you?
Skall ditt lösa tal nödga män till tystnad, så att du får bespotta, utan att någon kommer dig att blygas?
4 For say not, I am pure in my works, and blameless before him.
Och skall du så få säga: "Vad jag lär är rätt, och utan fläck har jag varit inför dina ögon"?
5 But oh that the Lord would speak to you, and open his lips to you!
Nej, om allenast Gud ville tala och upplåta sina läppar till att svara dig,
6 Then shall he declare to you the power of wisdom; for it shall be double of that which is with you: and then shall you know, that a just recompence of your sins has come to you from the Lord.
om han ville uppenbara dig sin visdoms lönnligheter, huru han äger förstånd, ja, i dubbelt mått, då insåge du att Gud, dig till förmån, har lämnat åt glömskan en del av din missgärning.
7 Will you find out the traces of the Lord? or have you come to the end [of that] which the Almighty has made?
Men kan väl du utrannsaka Guds djuphet eller fatta den Allsmäktiges fullkomlighet?
8 Heaven [is] high; and what will you do? and there are deeper things than those in hell; what do you know? (Sheol h7585)
Hög såsom himmelen är den -- vad kan du göra? djupare än dödsriket -- vad kan du förstå? (Sheol h7585)
9 Or longer than the measure of the earth, or the breadth of the sea.
Dess längd sträcker sig vidare än jorden, och i bredd överträffar den havet.
10 And if he should overthrow all things, who will say to him, What have you done?
När han vill fara fram och spärra någon inne eller kalla någon till doms, vem kan då hindra honom?
11 For he knows the works of transgressors; and when he sees wickedness, he will not overlook [it].
Han är ju den som känner lögnens män, fördärv upptäcker han, utan att leta därefter.
12 But man vainly buoys himself up with words; and a mortal born of woman [is] like an ass in the desert.
Men lika lätt kan en dåraktig man få förstånd, som en vildåsnefåle kan födas till människa.
13 For if you have made your heart pure, and lift up [your] hands towards him;
Om du nu rätt bereder ditt hjärta och uträcker dina händer till honom,
14 if there is any iniquity in your hands, put if far from you, and let not unrighteousness lodge in your habitation.
om du skaffar bort det fördärv som kan låda vid din hand och ej låter orättfärdighet bo i dina hyddor,
15 For thus shall your countenance shine again, as pure water; and you shall dive yourself of uncleanness, and shall not fear.
ja, då får du upplyfta ditt ansikte utan skam, du står fast och har intet att frukta.
16 And you shall forget trouble, as a wave that has passed by; and you shall not be scared.
Ja, då skall du förgäta din olycka, blott minnas den såsom vatten som har förrunnit.
17 And your prayer [shall be] as the morning star, and life shall arise to you [as] from the noonday.
Ditt liv skall då stråla klarare än middagens sken; och kommer mörker på, så är det som en gryning till morgon.
18 And you shall be confident, because you have hope; and peace shall dawn to you from out of anxiety and care.
Du kan då vara trygg, ty du äger ett hopp; du spanar omkring dig och går sedan trygg till vila.
19 For you shall be at ease, and there shall be no one to fight against you; and many shall charge, and make supplication to you.
Ja, du får då ligga i ro, utan att någon förskräcker dig, och många skola söka din ynnest.
20 But safety shall fail them; for their hope is destruction, and the eyes of the ungodly shall waste away.
Men de ogudaktigas ögon skola försmäkta; ingen tillflykt skall mer finnas för dem, och deras hopp skall vara att få giva upp andan.
