< Jeremias 2 >

1 And he said, Thus says the Lord,
Le niheo amako ty tsara’ Iehovà, nanao ty hoe:
2 I remember the kindness of your youth, and the love of your espousals,
Akia mikoiha an-dravembia’ Ierosalaime ao ty hoe: Hoe t’Iehovà: tiahiko ty hatea’ i hatora’oy, ty fikokoa’o, ihe nienga-vao; i fireketa’o amako an-dratraratray an-tane mboe tsy nitongisañe añe.
3 in following the Holy One of Israel, says the Lord, Israel was the holy [people] to the Lord, [and] the first fruits of his increase: all that devoured him shall offend; evils shall come upon them, says the Lord.
Niavake am’ Iehovà t’Israele, ty lohavoan-kavokara’e; hanan-kakeo ze mampibotseke ama’e, hankàñe ty hizò iareo, hoe t’Iehovà.
4 Hear the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob, and every family of the house of Israel.
Mijanjiña ty tsara’ Iehovà, ry anjomba’ Iakobe, naho ry hene fifokoan’anjomba’ Israele;
5 Thus says the Lord, What trespass have your fathers found in me, that they have revolted far from me, and gone after vanities, and become vain?
Hoe t’Iehovà: Ino ty tsi-havañonañe nizoe’ o roae’ areoo amako, kanao nihankaña’e, naho nañorike ty tsy jefa’e, vaho nifotsake ho kafoake?
6 And they said not, Where is the Lord, who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who guided us in the wilderness, in an untried and trackless land, in a land which no man at all went through, and no man lived there?
Mbore tsy nanao ty hoe iereo: Aia t’Iehovà nanese antika niakatse an-tane Mitsraime, niranga i fatram-beiy, i tanen-diolio naho koboñey, i tanem-paosa an-talinjon-kavilasiy, tane mb’e lia’e tsy nitsahe ‘ondaty, vaho tsy fimoneña’ ty ana’ ondaty.
7 And I brought you to Carmel, that you should eat the fruits thereof, and the good thereof; and you went in, and defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.
Nendesako mb’an-tane mamokatse, hikama’ areo ty hasoa’e; fa ie nizilik’ ao te mone tiniva’ areo i tanekoy, vaho vineta’ areo i lovakoy.
8 The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that held by the law knew me not: the shepherds also sinned against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and went after that which profited not.
Tsy nanao ty hoe o mpisoroñeo: Aia t’Iehovà? Namoea’ o mpamandroñe Hàke iabio iraho, nandilatse ahy o mpiarakeo, nitoky añamy Baale o mpitokio, vaho nañorike raha tsy vara.
9 Therefore I will yet plead with you, and will plead with your children's children.
Aa le hiatreatreako, hoe t’Iehovà, vaho hatreatrèko o anan’ana’ areoo.
10 For go to the isles of the Chettians, and se; and send to Kedar, and observe accurately, and see if such things have been done;
Mitsahà mb’an-tokonosen’ te-Kitìmeo añe naho mandrendreha naho ampañitrifo mb’e Kedare mb’eo vaho mitsoeha, hera ho oni’ areo te fa teo, o hoe zao:
11 if the nations will change their gods, though they are not gods: but my people have changed their glory, [for that] from which they shall not be profited.
Tane aia ty nañova o ‘ndrahare’eo, ie toe ‘ndrahare tsie avao? fe nasolo’ ondatiko raha tsy manjofake ty enge’ iareo.
12 The heaven is amazed at this, and is very exceedingly horror-struck, says the Lord.
Ilatsao ry likerañeo, minevenevèra naho mijehàra, hoe t’Iehovà.
13 For my people has committed two [faults], and evil ones: they have forsaken me, the fountain of water of life, and hewn out for themselves broken cisterns, which will not be able to hold water.
Nanao hakeo roe ondatikoo: Nifarie’ iareo iraho, i Rano Veloñe migoangoañey, hihalia’iareo kadaha, kadaha señake tsy mahatan-drano.
14 Is Israel a servant, or a home-born slave? why has he become a spoil?
Ondevo hao t’Israele? Fetrek’oro hao? Aa le ino ty idohirañ’ aze?
15 The lions roared upon him, and uttered their voice, which have made his land a wilderness: and his cities are broken down, that they should not be inhabited.
Fa nitroñe ama’e o liona tora’eo, nipoña-peo hampangoakoak’ i tane’ey, kòake iaby o rova’eo, tsy amam-pimoneñe.
16 Also the children of Memphis and Taphnas have known you, and mocked you.
Hinara’ o ana’ i Nofe naho i Tak’penkeseo ty hevo’o.
17 Has not your forsaking me brought these things upon you? says the Lord your God.
Tsy zao hao ty tali’ i raha zay, te naforintse’o t’Iehovà Andrianañahare’o, i niaolo azo amy lalañeiy.
18 And now what have you to do with the way of Egypt, to drink the water of Geon? and what have you to do with the way of the Assyrians, to drink the water of rivers?
Ino mb’arè ty atao’o an-dalam-b’e Mitsraime añe, hitohoke ty ranon-tSikore hao? Ino ka ty hanoe’o an-dalañe mb’e Asore mb’eo, he hitrinike i ranon-tSàkay hao?
19 Your apostasy shall correct you, and your wickedness shall reprove you: know then, and see, that your forsaking me [has been] bitter to you, says the Lord your God; and I have taken no pleasure in you, says the Lord your God.
Ty halò-tsere’o avao ty hitrevok’ azo, naho hañendak’ azo ty fidisa-voli’o; mahaoniña arè, vaho mahaisaha te raha raty naho mafaitse ty fitsambolitio’o an’ Andrianañahare’o, naho te tsy ama’o ty fañeveñañe Amako, hoe t’i Talè, Iehovà’ i Màroy.
20 For of old you have broken your yoke, and plucked asunder your bands; and you has said, I will not serve you, but will go upon every high hill, and under every shady tree, there will I indulge in my fornication.
Fa pinozako haehae ty joka’o, rinafadrafako o vahotseo, le hoe irehe: Tsy ho toroñeko, te mone nandrea’o vaho nanao hakarapiloañe ambone’ ze hene haboañe naho ambane’ ze fonga hatae mandrevake
21 Yet I planted you a fruitful vine, entirely of the right sort: how are you a strange vine turned to bitterness!
Ie naketsako am-bahem-panjàka, toe am-boa’e soa do’e; inom-barè ty nifotera’o ho hatae tsy jefa’e, ho vahe alik’amako?
22 Though you should wash yourself with nitre, and multiply to yourself soap, [still] you are stained by your iniquities before me, says the Lord.
Aa ndra te ihe mikitroñe an-kilìny, vaho milipotse an-tsavony ao, mboe komatrao amako o tahi’oo, hoe t’i Talè, Iehovà.
23 How will you say, I am not polluted, and have not gone after Baal? behold your ways in the burial-ground, and know what you have done: her voice has howled in the evening:
Aa vaho ino ty atao’o ty hoe: Tsy aman-kila iraho, izaho tsy nihitrike mb’amo Baaleo? Isao ty sata’o am-bavatane ao, mahafohina o anoe’oo; kiloan-drameva malisa irehe, manivalativala o lala’eo;
24 she has extended her ways over the waters of the desert; she was hurried along by the lusts of her soul; she is given up [to them], who will turn her back? none that seek her shall be weary; at [the time of] her humiliation they shall find her.
tamanam-birike lý zatse am-patrañe ao, mañantson-tioke am-pañirian-tro’e, ia ty mahafikalañe i fitongoña’ey? Tsy ho mokotse ty mipay aze, ho oni’ iareo amy fivola’ey.
25 Withdraw your foot from a rough way, and your throat from thirst: but she said I will strengthen myself: for she loved strangers, and went after them.
Tano o fandia’oo tsy ho afa-kana, ty tretra’o tsy haran-drano; fe hoe irehe: Tsy aman-ko tamaeñe, Aiy! amy te nikoko ambahiny iraho, le tsy mete tsy heañeko.
26 As is the shame of a thief when he is caught, so shall the children of Israel be ashamed; they, and their kings, and their princes, and their priests, and their prophets.
Hambañe ami’ty hasalara’ ty mpikizo, ie tendreke, ty hameñara’ ty anjomba’ Israele: ie naho o mpanjaka’eo, o roandria’eo, o mpisoro’eo, vaho o mpitoki’eo.
27 They said to a stock, You are my father; and to a stone, You has begotten me: and they have turned [their] backs to me, and not their faces: yet in the time of their afflictions they will say, Arise, and save us.
Ie manao ami’ty hatae ty hoe: Raeko irehe, naho ami’ty vato: Ihe ty niterak’ ahy, toe nampiatre-boho amako iereo fa tsy ty laharañe; fe an-tsa maha am-poheke ro hanoa’iareo ty hoe: Miongaha, rombaho zahay.
28 And where are your gods, which you made for yourself? will they arise and save in the time of your affliction? for according to the number of your cities were your gods, O Juda; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem they sacrificed to Baal.
Aia heike o ‘ndrahare tsinene’o ho azoo? Angao hiongake iereo, naho mete handrombak’ azo an-tsan-kankà’o ao; fa mira ami’ty hamaro’ o rova’oo ty ndrahare’o, ry Iehodà.
29 Therefore do you speak to me? you all have been ungodly, and you all have transgressed against me, says the Lord.
Akore t’ie miatreatre ahiko? Ie fonga nanao hakeo amako, hoe t’Iehovà.
30 In vain have I struck your children; you have not received correction: a sword has devoured your prophets as a destroying lion; yet you feared not.
Tsy jefa’e ty nandafàko o ana’ areoo, ie tsy mete avohotse; toe nabotsem-pibara’ areo o mpitoki’areoo, hoe namotsahan-diona.
31 Hear you the word of the Lord: thus says the Lord, Have I been a wilderness or a dry land to Israel? therefore has my people said, We will not be ruled over, and will not come to you any more?
Ry tariratseo, inao ty tsara’ Iehovà: Nifatram-bey am’ Israele hao iraho? ndra tane migobon-kaiem-bey? Ino ty atao’ ondatikoo ty hoe: Votsotse zahay; tsy homb’ama’o ka?
32 Will a bride forget her ornaments, or a virgin her girdle? but my people has forgotten me days without number.
Handikofa’ ty somondrara hao o rava’eo, ndra ty enga-vao o saro’eo? Fe haliño’ ondatikoo andro tsy fotofoto iraho.
33 What fair device will you yet employ in your ways, so as to seek love? [it shall] not [be] so; moreover you has done wickedly in corrupting your ways;
Ino ty ihamina’o ty lalam-pipaia’o koko? Toe nanare’o amo sata-rati’oo ka o kalalijakeo.
34 and in your hands has been found the blood of innocent souls; I have not found them in holes, but on every oak.
Mbore oniñe an-jipo’o ao ty liom-piai’ o rarake vañoñeo; tsy nirendre’o t’ie niboroboñake ama’o; ie amy hoe rezay
35 Yet you said, I am innocent: only let his wrath be turned away from me. Behold, I [will] plead with you, whereas you say, I have not sinned.
manao ty hoe: Izaho tsy aman-kakeo; fa mitolik’ amako ty haviñera’e— ingo mikai-jaka amako irehe ami’ty atao’o ty hoe: Tsy aman-tahin-draho.
36 For you has been so exceedingly contemptuous as to repeat your ways; but you shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assur.
Ie mikanifokanifoke avao ami’ty fiovà’o lalañe; Toe ho salare’ i Mitsraime ka manahake ty hameñara’o amy Asore.
37 For you shall go forth thence also with your hands upon your head; for the Lord has rejected your hope, and you shall not prosper in it.
Boak’ atoy ty hiakara’o, taña-mitan-doha; fa napo’ Iehovà o niatoa’oo, vaho tsy hiraorao am’ iereo irehe.
