Jeremias 19
1 Then said the Lord to me, Go and get an earthen bottle, the work of the potter, and you shall bring [some] of the elders of the people, and of the priests;
So hat der HERR zu mir gesprochen: »Gehe hin und kaufe dir beim Töpfer einen Krug, nimm dann einige von den Ältesten des Volkes und von den vornehmsten Priestern mit dir
2 and you shall go forth to the burial-place of the sons of their children, which is at the entrance of the gate of Charsith; and do you read there all these words which I shall speak to you:
und gehe in das Tal Ben-Hinnom hinaus, das vor dem Eingang des Scherbentors liegt, und rufe dort laut die Worte aus, die ich dir sagen werde!
3 and you shall say to them, Hear you the word of the Lord, you kings of Juda, and men of Juda, and the dwellers in Jerusalem, and they that enter in by these gates; thus says the Lord God of Israel; Behold, I [will] bring evil upon this place, so that the ears of every one that hears it shall tingle.
So sprich zu ihnen: Vernehmt das Wort des HERRN, ihr Könige von Juda und ihr Bewohner Jerusalems! So hat der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: ›Wisset wohl: ich will Unheil über diesen Ort bringen, daß jedem, der davon hört, die Ohren gellen sollen!
4 Because they forsook me, and profaned this place, and burnt incense in it to strange gods, which they and their fathers knew not; and the kings of Juda have filled this place with innocent blood,
Zur Strafe dafür, daß sie mich verlassen und diese Stätte entehrt und an ihr anderen Göttern geopfert haben, von denen weder sie noch ihre Väter noch die Könige von Juda etwas gewußt haben, und weil sie diese Stätte mit dem Blute Unschuldiger erfüllt
5 and built high places for Baal, to burn their children in the fire, which things I commanded not, neither did I design [them] in my heart:
und die Baalshöhen erbaut haben, um ihre Kinder als Brandopfer für den Baal zu verbrennen, was ich nie geboten noch angeordnet habe und was mir nie in den Sinn gekommen ist: –
6 Therefore, behold, the days come, says the Lord, when this place shall no more be called, The fall and burial-place of the son of Ennom, but, The burial-place of slaughter.
darum wisset wohl: die Zeit kommt‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –, ›da wird dieser Ort nicht mehr Thopheth und dieses Tal nicht mehr Tal Ben-Hinnom, sondern Würgetal genannt werden.
7 And I will destroy the counsel of Juda and the counsel of Jerusalem in this place; and I will cast them down with the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the sky and to the wild beasts of the earth.
Da will ich dann die Klugheit Judas und Jerusalems an diesem Orte ausschütten und will sie fallen lassen durch das Schwert (auf der Flucht) vor ihren Feinden her und durch die Hand derer, die ihnen nach dem Leben trachten, und will ihre Leichen den Vögeln des Himmels und den Tieren des Feldes zum Fraß geben.
8 And I will bring this city to desolation and [make it] a hissing; every one that passes by it shall scowl, and hiss because of all her plague.
Diese Stadt aber will ich zum abschreckenden Beispiel und zum Gespött machen, so daß jeder, der an ihr vorübergeht, sich entsetzen und wegen aller ihrer Leiden zischen soll.
9 And they shall eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters; and they shall eat every one the flesh of his neighbour in the blockade, and in the siege wherewith their enemies shall besiege them.
Auch will ich sie das Fleisch ihrer Söhne und das Fleisch ihrer Töchter essen lassen, und sie sollen einer das Fleisch des andern verzehren infolge der Belagerung und Not, in die sie von ihren Feinden und von denen, die ihnen nach dem Leben trachten, versetzt werden.‹
10 And you shall break the bottle in the sight of the men that go forth with you,
Hierauf sollst du den Krug vor den Augen der Männer, die mit dir gegangen sind, zerschlagen
11 and you shall say, Thus says the Lord, Thus will I break in pieces this people, and this city, even as an earthen vessel is broken in pieces which can’t be mended again.
und zu ihnen sagen: ›So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: Ebenso werde ich dieses Volk und diese Stadt zerschmettern, wie man Töpfergeschirr zerschmettert, das dann nicht wiederhergestellt werden kann; und im Thopheth wird man begraben, weil sonst kein Platz mehr zum Begraben vorhanden ist.
12 Thus will I do, says the Lord, to this place, and to the inhabitants of it, that this city may be given up, as one that is falling to ruin.
Auf diese Weise will ich mit diesem Ort verfahren‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN – ›und mit seinen Bewohnern: ein Thopheth will ich aus dieser Stadt machen.
13 And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Juda shall be as a ruinous place, because of their uncleannesses in all the houses, wherein they burnt incense upon their roofs to all the host of heaven, and poured drink-offerings to strange gods.
Da sollen dann die Häuser Jerusalems und die Paläste der Könige von Juda ebenso unrein werden wie die Stätte des Thopheth: nämlich alle die Häuser, auf deren Dächern sie dem gesamten Sternenheer des Himmels geräuchert und fremden Göttern Trankspenden ausgegossen haben.‹«
14 And Jeremias came from [the place] of the Fall, whither the Lord had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the Lord's house: and said to all the people, Thus says the Lord;
Als Jeremia dann vom Thopheth, wohin der HERR ihn zur Verkündigung des Prophetenspruchs gesandt hatte, zurückkehrte, trat er in den Vorhof des Tempels des HERRN und sprach zum ganzen Volk:
15 Behold I bring upon this city, and upon all the cities belonging to it, and upon the villages of it, all the evils which I have spoken against it, because they have hardened their neck, [that they might not] listen to my commands.
»So hat der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: ›Wisset wohl: ich will über diese Stadt und über sämtliche Ortschaften, die zu ihr gehören, all das Unheil kommen lassen, das ich ihr angedroht habe! denn sie haben sich halsstarrig gezeigt, um auf meine Worte nicht zu hören.‹«
