Jeremias 18
1 The word that came from the Lord to
੧ਉਹ ਬਚਨ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ
2 Jeremias, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there you shall hear my words.
੨ਉੱਠ ਅਤੇ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਜਾ। ਉੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ
3 So I went down to the potter's house, and behold, he was making a vessel on the stones.
੩ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੱਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ
4 And the vessel which he was making with his hands fell: so he made it again another vessel, as it seemed good to him to make [it].
੪ਉਹ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਹ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਗੜ ਗਿਆ। ਤਦ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਾ।
5 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
੫ਫਿਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ
6 Shall I not be able, O house of Israel, to do to you as this potter? behold, as the clay of the potter are you in my hands.
੬ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ, ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ? ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ। ਵੇਖੋ, ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ
7 [If] I shall pronounce a decree upon a nation, or upon a kingdom, to cut them off, and to destroy [them];
੭ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੌਮ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਟ ਸੁੱਟਾਂਗਾ, ਢਾਹ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ
8 and that nation turn from all their sins, then will I repent of the evils which I purposed to do to them.
੮ਜੇ ਉਹ ਕੌਮ ਜਿਹ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੈਂ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜੇ, ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਬਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਛਤਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸੋਚੀ ਸੀ
9 And [if] I shall pronounce a decree upon a nation and kingdom, to rebuild and to plant [it];
੯ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੌਮ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਵਾਂਗਾ
10 and they do evil before me, so as not to listen to my voice, then will I repent of the good which I spoke of, to do it to them.
੧੦ਜੇ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਪਛਤਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ
11 And now say to the men of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Behold, I prepare evils against you, and devise a device against you: let every one turn now from his evil way, and amend your practices.
੧੧ਹੁਣ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਵੇਖੋ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਇੱਕ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਇੱਕ ਮਤਾ ਸੋਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜੋ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਕਰੋ
12 And they said, We will quit ourselves like men, for we will pursue our perverse ways, and we will perform each the lusts of his evil heart.
੧੨ਪਰ ਉਹ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਅਣਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ! ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤਾਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਚੱਲਾਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਆਕੜ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
13 Therefore thus says the Lord; Enquire now amongst the nations, who has heard such very horrible things as the virgin of Israel has done?
੧੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁੱਛੋ ਤਾਂ, ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਿਨ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ ਹਨ? ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ!
14 Will fertilising streams fail [to flow] from a rock, or snow [fail] from Libanus? will water violently impelled by the wind turn aside?
੧੪ਕੀ ਲਬਾਨੋਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਫ਼ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਠੰਡੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਵੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਣਗੇ?
15 For my people have forgotten me, they have offered incense in vain, and they fail in their ways, [leaving] the ancient tracks, to enter upon impassable paths;
੧੫ਪਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਲਈ ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਠੇਡਾ ਖਾਧਾ, ਹਾਂ, ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੀ ਚੱਲਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪੱਧਰੇ ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ।
16 to make their land a desolation, and a perpetual hissing; all that go through it shall be amazed, and shall shake their heads.
੧੬ਸੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਨੱਕ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਹਿਲਾਵੇਗਾ!
17 I will scatter them before their enemies like an east wind; I will show them the day of their destruction.
੧੭ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਰੇ ਦੀ ਹਵਾ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਮੂੰਹ ਨਹੀਂ।
18 Then they said, Come, and let us devise a device against Jeremias; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us strike him with the tongue, and we will hear all his words.
੧੮ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਆਓ, ਅਸੀਂ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾਈਏ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਮਿਟੇਗੀ, ਨਾ ਸਲਾਹ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ, ਨਾ ਬਚਨ ਨਬੀ ਤੋਂ। ਆਓ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਦੇਈਏ।
19 Hear me, O Lord, and hear the voice of my pleading.
੧੯ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣ ਲੈ!
20 Forasmuch as evil is rewarded for good; for they have spoken words against my soul, and they have hidden the punishment they [meant] for me; remember that I stood before your face, to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.
੨੦ਕੀ ਨੇਕੀ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਬਦੀ ਹੈ? ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਲਈ ਟੋਆ ਪੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ। ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਲਈ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਭਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੋੜ ਲਵਾਂ।
21 Therefore do you deliver their sons to famine, and gather them to the power of the sword: let their women be childless and widows; and let their men be cut off by death, and their young men fall by the sword in war.
੨੧ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਘਾਟ ਉਤਾਰ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਔਂਤਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁਗਵੇਂ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ!
22 Let there be a cry in their houses: you shall bring upon them robbers suddenly: for they have formed a plan to take me, and have hidden snares for me.
੨੨ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਚਿੱਲਾਉਣਾ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ, ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਲਿਆਵੇਂਗਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਫੜਨ ਲਈ ਟੋਆ ਪੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਫਾਹੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੈ।
23 And you, Lord, know all their deadly counsel against me: account not their iniquities guiltless, and blot not out their sins from before you: let their weakness come before you; deal with them in the time of your wrath.
੨੩ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਲਾਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਦੀ ਨਾ ਢੱਕ, ਨਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਮਿਟਾ। ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਡੇਗੇ ਜਾਣ, ਆਪਣੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਐਉਂ ਵਰਤ!।
