Esias 51
1 Listen to me, you that follow after righteousness, and seek the Lord: look to the solid rock, which you have hewn, and to the hole of the pit which you have dug.
Ecoutez-moi, vous qui suivez ce qui est juste, et qui cherchez le Seigneur; portez votre attention sur la pierre dont vous avez été taillés, et sur la cavité de la citerne dont vous avez été arrachés.
2 Look to Abraam your father, and to Sarrha that bore you: for he was alone when I called him, and blessed him, and loved him, and multiplied him.
Portez votre attention sur Abraham votre père, et sur Sara qui vous a enfantés; je l’ai appelé seul, et je l’ai béni, et je l’ai multiplié.
3 And now I will comfort you, O Sion: and I have comforted all her desert places; and I will make her desert places as a garden, and her western places as the garden of the Lord; they shall find in her gladness and exultation, thanksgiving and the voice of praise.
Ainsi le Seigneur consolera Sion, et il consolera toutes ses ruines; il rendra son désert comme un lieu de délices, et sa solitude comme un jardin du Seigneur. On y trouvera la joie et l’allégresse, l’action de grâce et la voix de la louange.
4 Hear me, hear me, my people; and you kings, listen to me: for a law shall proceed from me, and my judgement [shall be] for a light of the nations.
Soyez attentifs à moi, mon peuple; ma tribu, écoutez-moi; parce qu’une loi sortira de moi, et que mon jugement pour la lumière des peuples reposera parmi eux.
5 My righteousness speedily draws near, and my salvation shall go forth as light, and on mine arm shall the Gentiles trust: the isles shall wait for me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
Proche est mon juste, sorti est mon sauveur, et mes bras jugeront les peuples: les îles m’attendront, et elles espéreront mon bras.
6 Lift up your eyes to the sky, and look on the earth beneath: for the sky was darkened like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and the inhabitants shall die in like manner: but my righteousness shall not fail.
Levez au ciel les yeux; et voyez en bas sur la terre; parce que les cieux comme la fumée se dissiperont, et la terre s’usera comme un vêtement, et ses habitants comme elle périront; mais mon salut sera éternel, et ma justice ne défaudra pas.
7 Hear me, you that know judgement, the people in whose heart is my law: fear not the reproach of men, and be not overcome by their contempt.
Ecoutez-moi, vous qui savez ce qui est juste, mon peuple, dans le cœur de qui est ma loi; ne craignez pas l’opprobre des hommes, n’appréhendez pas leurs outrages.
8 For as a garment will be devoured by time, and as wool will be devoured by a moth, [so shall they be consumed]; but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation for all generations.
Comme un vêtement, le ver les rongera, et comme la laine, la teigne les dévorera; mais mon salut sera à jamais, et ma justice dans toutes les générations.
9 Awake, awake, O Jerusalem, and put on the strength of your arm; awake as in the early time, as the ancient generation.
Lève-toi, lève-toi, revêts-toi de force, bras du Seigneur, lève-toi comme aux jours anciens, dans les générations des siècles. N’est-ce pas vous qui avez frappé un superbe, blessé un dragon?
10 Are you not it that dried the sea, the water, [even] the abundance of the deep; that made the depths of the sea a way of passage for the delivered and redeemed?
N’est-ce pas vous qui avez desséché la mer, l’eau du grand abîme; qui avez établi une voie au profond de la mer, afin que ceux qui avaient été délivrés y trouvassent un passage?
11 for by [the help of] the Lord they shall return, and come to Sion with joy and everlasting exultation, for praise and joy shall come upon their head: pain, and grief, and groaning, have fled away.
Et maintenant ceux qui ont été rachetés par le Seigneur, retourneront et viendront à Sien chantant des louanges; une allégresse éternelle couronnera leurs têtes, ils posséderont la joie et l’allégresse: la douleur fuira ainsi que le gémissement.
12 I, [even] I, am he that comforts you: consider who you are, that you were afraid of mortal man, and of the son of man, who are withered as grass.
C’est moi, c’est moi-même qui vous consolerai; qui es-tu pour craindre un homme mortel, le fils d’un homme, qui comme l’herbe séchera?
13 And you have forgotten God who made you, who made the sky and founded the earth; and you were continually afraid because of the wrath of him that afflicted you: for [whereas] he counselled to take you away, yet now where is the wrath of him that afflicted you?
Et tu as oublié le Seigneur qui t’a créé, qui a étendu les cieux et fondé la terre; et tu as tremblé sans cesse tout le jour devant la fureur de celui qui te tourmentait et se préparait à te perdre; où est maintenant la fureur de celui qui te tourmentait?
14 For in your deliverance he shall not halt, nor wait;
Bientôt viendra celui qui est en marche pour ouvrir les prisons; il ne tuera pas jusqu’à une entière extermination et son pain ne défaudra pas.
15 for I am your God, that troubles the sea, and causes the waves thereof to roar: the Lord of hosts is my name.
Or moi je suis le Seigneur ton Dieu, qui agite la mer et ses flots se soulèvent; le Seigneur des armées est mon nom.
16 I will put my words into your mouth, and I will shelter you under the shadow of mine hand, with which I fixed the sky, and founded the earth: and [the Lord] shall say to Sion, You are my people.
J’ai mis mes paroles dans ta bouche, et à l’ombre de ma main je t’ai protégé, afin que tu établisses des cieux, et que tu fondes une terre, et que tu dises à Sion: Mon peuple, c’est toi.
17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that have drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his fury: for you have drunk out and drained the cup of calamity, the cup of wrath:
Lève-toi, lève-toi, réveille-toi, Jérusalem, qui as bu de la main du Seigneur le calice de sa colère; jusqu’au fond du calice d’assoupissement tu as bu, et tu as bu jusqu’à la lie.
18 and there was none to comfort you of all the children whom you bore; and there was none to take hold of your hand, not even of all the children whom you has reared.
De tous les fils qu’elle a mis au monde, il n’en est pas qui la soutienne, et de tous les fils qu’elle a élevés, il n’en est pas qui prenne sa main.
19 Therefore these things are against you; who shall sympathise with you in your grief? downfall, and destruction, famine, and sword: who shall comfort you?
Il y a deux maux qui sont tombés ensemble sur toi; qui s’attristera pour toi? le ravage et la destruction, la faim et le glaive; qui te consolera?
20 Your sons are the perplexed ones, that sleep at the top of every street as a half-boiled beet; they that are full of the anger of the Lord, caused to faint by the Lord God.
Tes fils ont été jetés par terre, et ils sont couchés dans tous les carrefours, comme un oryx pris dans les filets; pleins de l’indignation du Seigneur, et de la réprimande de ton Dieu.
21 Therefore hear, you afflicted one, and drunken, [but] not with wine;
C’est pourquoi écoute ceci, Jérusalem, pauvre et ivre, non de vin.
22 thus says the Lord God that judges his people, Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of calamity, the cup of my wrath; and you shall not drink it any more.
Voici ce que dit ton dominateur, le Seigneur et ton Dieu, qui combattra pour son peuple: Voilà, j’ai pris de ta main le calice d’assoupissement, le fond du calice de mon indignation; tu ne continueras plus à le boire à l’avenir.
23 And I will give it into the hands of them that injured you, and them that afflicted you; who said to your soul, Bow down, that we may pass over: and you did level your body with the ground to them passing by without.
Mais je le mettrai dans la main de ceux qui t’ont humiliée, et ont dit à ton âme: Courbe-toi, afin que nous passions; et tu as mis ton corps comme la terre, et comme la voie des passants.
