Esias 48
1 Hear these [words], you house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of Juda, who swear by the name of the Lord God of Israel, making mention [of it, but] not with truth, nor with righteousness;
Höret dieses, Haus Jakob! Die ihr mit dem Namen Israel genannt und aus den Wassern Judas hervorgegangen seid, die ihr schwöret bei dem Namen Jehovas und des Gottes Israels rühmend gedenket, doch nicht in Wahrheit und nicht in Gerechtigkeit;
2 maintaining also the name of the holy city, and staying themselves on the God of Israel: the Lord of hosts is his name. The former things I have already declared;
denn nach der heiligen Stadt nennen sie sich, und sie stützen sich [O. und nicht in Gerechtigkeit, wenn sie sich auch nennen und sich stützen] auf den Gott Israels, Jehova der Heerscharen ist sein Name:
3 and they that have proceeded out of my mouth, and it became well known; I wrought suddenly, and [the events] came to pass.
Ich habe das Frühere vorlängst verkündet, und aus meinem Munde ist es hervorgegangen, und ich habe es hören lassen; plötzlich vollführte ich es, und es traf ein.
4 I know that you are stubborn, and your neck is an iron sinew, and your forehead brazen.
Weil ich wußte, daß du hart bist, und daß dein Nacken eine eiserne Sehne und deine Stirn von Erz ist,
5 And I told you of old what [should be] before it came upon you; I made it known to you, lest you should say, [My] idols have done [it] for me; and should say, [My] graven and molten images have commanded me.
so habe ich es vorlängst dir verkündet, ehe es eintraf, habe ich es dich hören lassen; damit du nicht sagen möchtest: Mein Götze [Eig. Götzenbild] hat es getan, und mein geschnitztes und mein gegossenes Bild hat es geboten.
6 You have heard all this, but you have not known: yet I have made known to you the new things from henceforth, which are coming to pass, and you said not,
Du hast es gehört, betrachte es alles; und ihr, wollt ihr es nicht bekennen? Von nun an lasse ich dich Neues hören und Verborgengehaltenes und was du nicht gewußt hast.
7 Now they come to pass, and not formerly: and you heard not of them in former days: say not you, Yes, I know them.
Jetzt ist es geschaffen und nicht vorlängst, und vor diesem Tage hast du nicht davon gehört; damit du nicht sagen möchtest: Siehe, ich habe es gewußt.
8 You have neither known, nor understood, neither from the beginning have I opened your ears: for I knew that you would surely deal treacherously, and would be called a transgressor even from the womb.
Du hast es weder gehört noch gewußt, noch war von längsther dein Ohr geöffnet; [Eig. offen] denn ich wußte, daß du gar treulos bist, und daß man dich von Mutterleibe an einen Übertreter [O. einen Abtrünnigen] genannt hat.
9 For mine own sake will I show you my wrath, and will bring before you my glorious acts, that I may not utterly destroy you.
Um meines Namens willen verziehe ich meinen Zorn, und um meines Ruhmes willen bezwinge ich ihn, dir zu gut, um dich nicht auszurotten.
10 Behold, I have sold you, [but] not for silver; but I have rescued you from the furnace of affliction.
Siehe, ich habe dich geläutert, doch nicht wie Silber; ich habe dich geprüft im Schmelzofen des Elends.
11 For mine own sake I will do [this] for you, because my name is profaned; and I will not give my glory to another.
Um meinetwillen, um meinetwillen will ich es tun; denn wie würde mein Name [W. er] entweiht werden! [Vergl. Hes. 36,19-24] und meine Ehre gebe ich keinem anderen.
12 Hear me, O Jacob, and Israel whom I call; I am the first, and I endure for ever.
Höre auf mich, Jakob, und Israel, mein Berufener! Ich bin, der da ist, [O. derselbe] ich der Erste, ich auch der Letzte.
13 My hand also has founded the earth, and my right hand has fixed the sky: I will call them, and they shall stand together.
Auch hat meine Hand die Erde gegründet, und meine Rechte die Himmel ausgespannt; ich rufe ihnen zu: allesamt stehen sie da.
14 And all shall be gathered, and shall hear: who has told them these things? Out of love to you I have fulfilled your desire on Babylon, to abolish the seed of the Chaldeans.
Versammelt euch, ihr alle, und höret! Wer unter ihnen hat dieses verkündet? Den Jehova liebt, der wird sein Wohlgefallen [O. seinen Willen] vollführen an Babel und seinen Arm an den Chaldäern.
15 I have spoken, I have called, I have brought him, and made his way prosperous.
Ich, ich habe geredet, ja, ich habe ihn gerufen; ich habe ihn kommen lassen, und sein Weg wird gelingen.
16 Draw near to me, and hear you these words; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning: when it took place, there was I, and now the Lord, [even] the Lord, and his Spirit, has sent me.
Nahet euch zu mir, höret dieses! Ich habe vom Anfang an nicht im Verborgenen geredet; von der Zeit an, da es ward, bin ich da. -Und nun hat der Herr, Jehova, mich gesandt und sein Geist. - [O. mit seinem Geiste]
17 Thus says the Lord that delivered you, the Holy One of Israel; I am your God, I have shown you how you should find the way wherein you should walk.
So spricht Jehova, dein Erlöser, der Heilige Israels: Ich bin Jehova, dein Gott, der dich lehrt, [O. Ich, Jehova, dein Gott lehre dich] zu tun, was dir frommt, der dich leitet auf dem Wege, den du gehen sollst.
18 And if you had listened to my commandments, [then] would your peace have been like a river, and your righteousness as a wave of the sea.
O daß du gemerkt hättest auf meine Gebote! dann würde dein Friede gewesen sein wie ein Strom, und deine Gerechtigkeit wie des Meeres Wogen;
19 Your seed also would have been as the sand, and the offspring of your belly as the dust of the ground: neither now shall you by any means be utterly destroyed, neither shall your name perish before me.
und dein Same würde gewesen sein wie der Sand, und die Sprößlinge deines Leibes wie seine Körner; sein Name würde nicht ausgerottet und nicht vertilgt werden vor meinem Angesicht.
20 Go forth of Babylon, you that flee from the Chaldeans: utter aloud a voice of joy, and let this be made known, proclaim it to the end of the earth; say you, The Lord has delivered his servant Jacob.
Ziehet aus Babel, fliehet aus Chaldäa mit Jubelschall; verkündiget, laßt dieses hören, bringet es aus bis an das Ende der Erde! Sprechet: Jehova hat seinen Knecht Jakob erlöst.
21 And if they shall thirst, he shall lead them through the desert; he shall bring forth water to them out of the rock: the rock shall be cloven, and the water shall flow forth, and my people shall drink.
Und sie dürsteten nicht, als er sie durch die Wüste führte; er ließ ihnen Wasser rieseln aus dem Felsen, er spaltete den Felsen, und Wasser flossen heraus. -
22 There is no joy, says the Lord, to the ungodly.
Kein Friede den Gesetzlosen! spricht Jehova. -
