Esias 40
1 Comfort you, comfort you my people, says God.
১তোমাদের ঈশ্বর বলছেন, “আমার লোকদের সান্ত্বনা দাও, সান্ত্বনা দাও।
2 Speak, you priests, to the heart of Jerusalem; comfort her, for her humiliation is accomplished, her sin is put away: for she has received of the Lord's hand double [the amount of] her sins.
২যিরূশালেমের লোকদের সঙ্গে নরমভাবে কথা বল, আর তাদের কাছে এই কথা ঘোষণা কর যে, তাদের লড়াইয়ের দিন শেষ হয়েছে, তাদের পাপের ক্ষমা হয়েছে, যা সে তার সমস্ত পাপ প্রভুর হাত থেকে দ্বিগুন পেয়েছে।”
3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, make straight the paths of our God.
৩এক জনের কণ্ঠস্বর চিৎকার করে জানাচ্ছে, “তোমরা মরুপ্রান্তে সদাপ্রভুর পথ প্রস্তুত কর; অরাবাতে আমাদের ঈশ্বরের জন্য একটা সোজা রাস্তা তৈরী কর।
4 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low: and all the crooked [ways] shall become straight, and the rough [places] plains.
৪প্রত্যেক উপত্যকাকে তোলা হবে এবং প্রত্যেক পাহাড় ও পর্বতকে সমান করা হবে, উঁচু নিচু জায়গা সমান মাপের করা হবে, আর অসমান জমি সমান করা হবে।
5 And the glory of the Lord shall appear, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God: for the Lord has spoken [it].
৫এবং সদাপ্রভুর গৌরব প্রকাশিত হবে, আর সমস্ত মানুষ তা একসঙ্গে দেখবে; কারণ সদাপ্রভু এই সব কথা বলেছেন।”
6 The voice of one saying, Cry; and I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass:
৬এক জনের কণ্ঠস্বর বলছে, “ঘোষণা কর।” আমি বললাম, “আমি কি ঘোষণা করব?” “সব মানুষই ঘাসের মত, মাঠের ফুলের মতই তাদের চুক্তির বিশ্বস্ততা।
৭ঘাস শুকিয়ে যায় আর ফুলও ঝরে পড়ে, যখন সদাপ্রভুর নিঃশ্বাস সেগুলোর উপর দিয়ে বয়ে যায়। অবশ্যই মানুষ ঘাসের মত।
8 The grass withers, and the flower fades: but the word of our God abides for ever.
৮ঘাস শুকিয়ে যায় আর ফুলও ঝরে পড়ে, কিন্তু আমাদের ঈশ্বরের বাক্য অনন্তকালস্থায়ী।”
9 O you that bring glad tidings to Zion, go up on the high mountain; lift up your voice with strength, you that bring glad tidings to Jerusalem; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Juda, Behold your God!
৯হে তুমি যে সুখবর সিয়োনে যিরূশালেম থেকে নিয়ে আসছ, তুমি উঁচু পাহাড়ে গিয়ে ওঠো। হে ইউমী কে সুখবর নিয়ে আসছি যিরূশালেমে, তুমি জোরে চিৎকার কর, চিৎকার কর, ভয় কোরো না; যিহূদার শহরগুলোকে বল, “এই তো তোমাদের ঈশ্বর!”
10 Behold the Lord! The Lord is coming with strength, and [his] arm is with power: behold, his reward is with him, and [his] work before him.
১০দেখ, প্রভু সদাপ্রভু শক্তির সঙ্গে আসছেন, তাঁর শক্তিশালী হাত তাঁর হয়ে রাজত্ব করছে। দেখ, পুরষ্কার তাঁর সঙ্গে আছে, তাঁর পাওনা তাঁর কাছেই আছে।
11 He shall tend his flock as a shepherd, and he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and shall soothe them that are with young.
১১তিনি রাখালের মত তাঁর ভেড়ার পাল চরাবেন, ভেড়ার বাচ্চাদের তিনি হাতে তুলে নেবেন আর কোলে করে তাদের বয়ে নিয়ে যাবেন; বাচ্চা আছে এমন ভেড়ীদের তিনি আস্তে আস্তে চালিয়ে নিয়ে যাবেন।
12 Who has measured the water in his hand, and the heaven with a span, and all the earth in a handful? Who has weighed the mountains in scales, and the forests in a balance?
১২কে তার হাতের তালুতে পৃথিবীর সব জল মেপেছে কিম্বা তার বিঘত দিয়ে আকাশের সীমানা মেপেছে? কে পৃথিবীর ধুল মাপের ঝুড়িতে ভরেছে কিম্বা দাঁড়িপাল্লায় পাহাড়-পর্বত ওজন করেছে?
13 Who has known the mind of the Lord? and who has been his counsellor, to instruct him?
১৩কে সদাপ্রভুর মন মাপতে পেরেছে কিম্বা তাঁর পরামর্শদাতা হিসাবে তাঁকে উপদেশ দিয়েছে?
14 Or with whom has he taken counsel, and he has instructed him? or who has taught him judgement, or who has taught him the way of understanding;
১৪কারো থেকে কি তিনি কখনো পরামর্শ নিয়েছেন? আর কাজ করার সঠিক পথ কে তাঁকে দেখিয়ে দিয়েছে, কে তাঁকে জ্ঞান শিক্ষা দিয়েছে কিম্বা বোঝার রাস্তা দেখিয়েছেন?
15 since all the nations are counted as a drop from a bucket, and as the turning of a balance, [and] shall be counted as spittle?
১৫দেখ, দেশ গুলো যেন কলসীর মধ্যে জলের একটা ফোঁটা; দাঁড়িপাল্লায় ধূলিকণার মতই তাদের মনে করা হয়। দেখ দ্বীপপুঞ্জকে তিনি ক্ষুদ্র কনার মতন পরিমাপ করেন।
16 And Libanus is not enough to burn, nor all beasts enough for a whole burnt offering:
১৬আগুন জ্বালাবার জন্য লিবানোনের কাঠ আর হোমবলি উৎসর্গের জন্য লিবানোনের পশু যথেষ্ট নয়।
17 and all the nations are as nothing, and counted as nothing.
১৭সমস্ত জাতি তাঁর সামনে যথেষ্ট নয়; সেগুলোকে তিনি কিছু বলেই মনে করেন না; সেগুলো তাঁর কাছে অসার।
18 To whom have you compared the Lord? and with what likeness have you compared him?
১৮তবে কার সঙ্গে তোমরা ঈশ্বরের তুলনা করবে? তুলনা করবে কিসের সঙ্গে?
19 Has not the artificer made an image, or the goldsmith having melted gold, gilt it over, [and] made it a similitude?
১৯প্রতিমা, কারিগরেরা যা ছাঁচে ঢেলে বানায়; স্বর্ণকার তা সোনা দিয়ে মোড়ে আর তার জন্য রূপোর শিকল তৈরী করে।
20 For the artificer chooses out a wood that will not rot, and will wisely enquire how he shall set up his image, and [that so] that it should not be moved.
২০একজন উত্সর্গের জন্য যে কাঠ পচবে না সেই কাঠই বেছে নেয়। যাতে না পড়ে যায় এমন প্রতিমা তৈরীর জন্য সে একজন পাকা কারিগরের খোঁজ করে।
21 Will you not know? will you not hear? has it not been told you of old? Have you not known the foundations of the earth?
২১তোমরা কি জান না? তোমরা কি শোন নি? শুরু থেকেই কি তোমাদের সে কথা বলা হয়নি? পৃথিবী স্থাপনের দিন থেকে কি তোমরা বোঝ নি?
22 [It is] he that comprehends the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants in it are as grasshoppers; he that set up the heaven as a chamber, and stretched [it] out as a tent to dwell in:
২২পৃথিবীর দিগন্তের উপরে তিনিই সিংহাসনে বসে আছেন, আর পৃথিবীবাসী তার সম্মুখে গঙ্গাফড়িংয়ের মত। চাঁদোয়ার মত করে তিনি আকাশকে বিছিয়ে দিয়েছেন, বসবাসের তাঁবুর মত করে তা খাটিয়ে দিয়েছেন।
23 he that appoints princes to rule as nothing, and has made the earth as nothing.
২৩তিনি রাজাদের ক্ষমতাশূন্য করেন আর এই জগতের শাসনকর্ত্তাদের তুচ্ছ করেন।
24 For they shall not plant, neither shall they sow, neither shall their root be fixed in the ground: he has blown upon them, and they are withered, and a storm shall carry them away like sticks.
২৪দেখ, যেই তাদের লাগানো হয়, যেই তাদের বোনা হয়, যেই তারা মাটিতে শিকড় বসায়, অমনি তিনি তাদের উপর ফুঁ দেন আর তারা শুকিয়ে যায়; একটা ঘূর্ণিবাতাস খড়কুটোর মত করে তাদের উড়িয়ে নিয়ে যায়।
25 Now then to whom have you compared me, that I may be exalted? says the Holy One.
২৫সেই পবিত্রজন বলছেন, “তোমরা কার সঙ্গে আমার তুলনা করবে? কে আমার সমান?”
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see, who has displayed all these things? [even] he that brings forth his host by number: he shall call them all by name by [means of his] great glory, and by the power of his might: nothing has escaped you.
২৬চোখ তুলে আকাশের দিকে তাকিয়ে দেখ; কে ঐ সব তারাদের সৃষ্টি করেছেন? তিনিই তারাগুলোকে এক এক করে বের করে এনেছেন; তিনিই তাদের প্রত্যেকের নাম ধরে ডাকেন। তাঁর মহাক্ষমতা ও মহাশক্তির জন্য তাদের একটাও হারিয়ে যায় না।
27 For say not you, O Jacob, and why have you spoken, Israel, [saying], My way is hid from God, and my God has taken away [my] judgement, and has departed?
২৭হে যাকোব, কেন তুমি বলছ, হে ইস্রায়েল, কেন তুমি এই নালিশ করছ, “আমার পথ সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে লুকানো রয়েছে, আমার ন্যায়বিচার পাবার অধিকার আমার ঈশ্বর অগ্রাহ্য করেছেন”?
28 And now, have you not known? have you not heard? the eternal God, the God that formed the ends of the earth, shall not hunger, nor be weary, and there is no searching of his understanding.
২৮তোমরা কি জান না? তোমরা কি শোননি? সদাপ্রভু, যিনি চিরকাল স্থায়ী ঈশ্বর, যিনি পৃথিবীর শেষ সীমার সৃষ্টিকর্ত্তা, তিনি দুর্বল হন না, ক্লান্তও হন না; তাঁর জ্ঞানের কোনো সীমা নেই।
29 He gives strength to the hungry, and sorrow to them that are not suffering.
২৯তিনি ক্লান্তকে শক্তি দেন আর দুর্বলদের আবার শক্তিমান করেন।
30 For the young [men] shall hunger, and the youths shall be weary, and the choice [men] shall be powerless:
৩০অল্পবয়সীরা পর্যন্ত দুর্বল হয় ও ক্লান্ত হয় আর যুবকেরা হোঁচট খেয়ে পড়ে যায়,
31 but they that wait on God shall renew [their] strength; they shall put forth new feathers like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not hunger.
৩১কিন্তু যারা সদাপ্রভুর অপেক্ষা করে তারা আবার নতুন শক্তি পাবে। তারা ঈগল পাখীর মত ডানা মেলে উঁচুতে উড়বে; তারা দৌড়ালে ক্লান্ত হবে না, তারা হাঁটলে দুর্বল হবে না।
