Osee 7
1 When I have healed Israel, then shall the iniquity of Ephraim be revealed, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they have wrought falsehood: and a thief shall come in to him, [even] a robber spoiling in his way;
Quand je veux opérer la guérison d’Israël, il arrive que se dévoilent l’iniquité d’Ephraïm et les méfaits de Samarie, car ils pratiquent le mensonge, des voleurs font irruption, des bandes de pillards se répandent au dehors.
2 that they may concert together as [men] singing in their heart: I remember all their wickedness: now have their own counsels compassed them about; they came before my face.
Ils ne se disent pas dans le secret de leur cœur que je garde le souvenir de toute leur perversité; or, leurs actions les enserrent, elles sont là devant ma face.
3 They gladdened kings with their wickedness, and princes with their lies.
Par leur perversité, ils font plaisir au roi, par leurs tromperies aux princes.
4 They are all adulterers, as an oven glowing with flame for hot-baking, on account of the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened.
Ils sont tous débauchés, ardents comme un four allumé par le boulanger, qui s’abstient d’attiser le feu depuis le moment où la pâte est pétrie jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit levée.
5 [In] the days of our kings, the princes began to be inflamed with wine: he stretched out his hand with pestilent fellows.
"C’Est le jour de fête de notre roi!" Les princes s’y rendent malades par la chaleur du vin: on tend la main aux railleurs.
6 Therefore their hearts are inflamed as an oven, while they rage all the night: Ephraim is satisfied with sleep; the morning is come; he is burnt up as a flame of fire.
Oui, dans leurs machinations, ils rendent leur cœur semblable à un four qui, même si le boulanger dort toute la nuit, est brûlant au matin comme un feu qui flambe.
7 They are all heated like an oven, and have devoured their judges: all their kings are fallen; there was not amongst them one that called on me.
Tous ils sont échauffés comme le four, et ils consument leurs juges; tous leurs rois sont renversés, sans que personne parmi eux s’adresse à moi.
8 Ephraim is mixed amongst his people; Ephraim became a cake not turned.
Ephraïm se confond parmi les nations, Ephraïm est un gâteau qui n’a pas été retourné.
9 Strangers devoured his strength, and he knew [it] not; and grey hairs came upon him, and he knew [it] not.
Des étrangers dévorent sa force, sans qu’il s’en aperçoive, la décrépitude l’a atteint sans qu’il s’en doute.
10 And the pride of Israel shall be brought down before his face: yet they have not returned to the Lord their God, neither have they diligently sought him for all this.
L’Orgueil d’Israël est humilié en sa présence; cependant ils ne sont pas revenus à l’Eternel, leur Dieu, et, en dépit de tout, ils ne l’ont pas recherché.
11 And Ephraim was as a silly dove, not having a heart: he called to Egypt, and they went to the Assyrians.
Ephraïm est devenu comme un pigeon étourdi, sans intelligence; ils en appellent à l’Egypte, ils se rendent en Assyrie.
12 Whenever they shall go, I will cast my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the sky, I will chasten them with the rumour of their [coming] affliction.
Tandis qu’ils prennent ce chemin, je tendrai mon filet sur eux et les y ferai tomber comme des oiseaux du ciel, je les châtierai à l’annonce de leur rassemblement.
13 Woe to them! for they have started aside from me: they are cowards; for they have sinned against me: yet I redeemed them, but they spoke falsehoods against me.
Malheur à eux, car ils ont erré loin de moi! Ruine sur eux, car ils me sont devenus infidèles! Est-ce à moi de les délivrer, alors qu’ils profèrent des mensonges contre moi?
14 And their hearts did not cry to me, but they howled on their beds: they pined for oil and wine.
Ils ne m’invoquent pas de tout cœur quand ils se lamentent sur leur couche: sont-ils alarmés au sujet du froment et du vin, alors ils s’approchent de moi?
15 They were instructed by me, and I strengthened their arms; and they devised evils against me.
Cependant moi, en les redressant, je fortifiais leurs bras, mais ils ont conçu de mauvaises pensées à mon égard.
16 They turned aside to that which is not, they became as a bent bow: their princes shall fall by the sword, by reason of the unbridled state of their tongue: this is their setting at nothing in the land of Egypt.
S’Ils retournent, ce n’est pas pour s’élever vers Dieu, ils sont tels qu’un arc trompeur. Leurs princes tomberont sous le glaive à cause de leur langue virulente. Voilà ce qui fait d’eux une risée dans le pays d’Egypte.
