1 A PRAYER OF THE PROPHET AMBACUM, WITH A SONG.
Ko e lotu ʻa Hapakuki ko e palōfita ʻi he Sikaiona.
2 O Lord, I have heard your report, and was afraid: I considered your works, and was amazed: you shall be known between the two living creatures, you shall be acknowledged when the years draw near; you shall be manifested when the time is come; when my soul is troubled, you will in wrath remember mercy.
‌ʻE Sihova, kuo u fanongo ki hoʻo folofola, pea ne u manavahē: ʻE Sihova, fakaakeake hoʻo ngāue ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe ngaahi taʻu, fakahā ia ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe ngaahi taʻu; ʻi he houhau, manatu ki he ʻaloʻofa.
3 God shall come from Thaeman, and the Holy One from the dark shady mount Pharan. (Pause)
Naʻe hāʻele mai ʻae ʻOtua mei Timani, mo e tokotaha māʻoniʻoni mei he moʻunga ko Palani. (Sila) Naʻe ʻufiʻufi ʻae ngaahi langi ʻe hono nāunau, pea naʻe fonu ʻa māmani ʻi hono fakamālō.
4 His excellence covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. And his brightness shall be as light; [there were] horns in his hands, and he caused a mighty love of his strength.
Pea naʻe malama ia ʻo hangē ko e maama; naʻe ʻalu atu ʻae maama ulo mei hono nima: pea naʻe ʻi ai ʻae fakafufū ʻo ʻene māfimafi.
5 Before his face shall go a report, and it shall go forth into the plains,
Naʻe ʻalu atu ʻi hono ʻao ʻae mahaki fakaʻauha, pea naʻe ʻalu atu ʻi hono vaʻe ʻae maka fefie ʻoku vela.
6 the earth stood at his feet and trembled: he saw, and the nations melted away: the mountains were violently burst through, the everlasting hills melted at his everlasting going forth.
7 Because of troubles I looked upon the tents of the Ethiopians: the tabernacles also of the land of Madiam shall be dismayed.
Naʻaku mamata ʻoku ʻi he mamahi ʻae ngaahi fale fehikitaki ʻo Kusani: pea naʻe tetetete ʻae ngaahi puipui ʻoe fonua ko Mitiane.
8 Was you angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or [was] your wrath against the rivers, or your anger against the sea? for you will mount on your horses, and your chariots are salvation.
Naʻe mamahi ʻa Sihova ki he ngaahi vaitafe? Naʻa ke houhau ki he ngaahi vaitafe? Naʻe ʻi he tahi ʻa ho tuputāmaki, koeʻuhi naʻa ke heka ai ʻi hoʻo fanga hoosi, mo hoʻo ngaahi saliote ʻoe fakamoʻui?
9 Surely you did bend they bow at sceptres, says the Lord. (Pause) The land of rivers shall be torn asunder.
Naʻe toʻo ʻo teke ʻa hoʻo kaufana, ʻo fakatatau mo e ngaahi fuakava ki he ngaahi faʻahinga, ʻio, ko hoʻo folofola. (Sila) Naʻa ke fahifahi ʻaki ʻae fonua ʻae ngaahi vaitafe.
10 The nations shall see you and be in pain, [as you do] divide the moving waters: the deep uttered her voice, and raised her form on high.
11 The sun was exalted, and the moon stood still in her course: your darts shall go forth at the light, at the brightness of the gleaming of your arms.
Naʻe tuʻumaʻu ʻae laʻā, mo e māhina ʻi hona nofoʻanga: naʻe ʻalu atu hoʻo ngaahi ngahau ʻi hona maama, pea ʻi he ulo ho tao ngingila.
12 You will bring low the land with threatening, and in wrath you will break down the nations.
Naʻa ke hāʻele atu ʻi he fonua, ʻi he tuputāmaki, naʻa ke haha ʻae hiteni ʻi ho houhau.
13 You went forth for the salvation of your people, to save your anointed: you shall bring death on the heads of transgressors; you has brought bands upon [their] neck. (Pause)
Naʻa ke meʻa atu koeʻuhi ko e fakamoʻui ʻo hoʻo kakai, ʻio, koeʻuhi ko e fakamoʻui ʻo hoʻo kau pani: naʻa ke taaʻi ʻae ʻulu ʻi he fale ʻoe angakovi, naʻa ke fakaʻauha hono tuʻunga, ʻo aʻu ki he maka. (Sila)
14 You did cut asunder the heads of princes with amazement, they shall tremble in it; they shall burst their bridles, [they shall be] as a poor man devouring in secret.
Naʻa ke hokaʻi ʻae ʻulu ʻo ʻene kautau, mei hono ngaahi faʻahinga: naʻe haʻu ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e ʻahiohio ke fakamovete au: ko ʻenau fiefiaʻanga ia, ke keina ʻae masiva ʻi he fufū.
15 And you do cause your horses to enter the sea, disturbing much water.
Naʻa ke hāʻele atu mo hoʻo fanga hoosi ʻi he tahi, ʻi he fokotuʻunga ʻoe ngaahi vai lahi.
16 I watched, and my belly trembled at the sound of the prayer of my lips, and trembling entered into my bones, and my frame was troubled within me; I will rest in the day of affliction, from going up to the people of my sojourning.
17 For [though] the fig tree shall bear no fruit, and there shall be no produce on the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall produce no food: the sheep have failed from the pasture, and there are no oxen at the cribs;
Neongo ʻene ʻikai fisi ʻae ʻakau ko e fiki, pea ʻe ʻikai ha fua ʻi he ngaahi vaine; pea kovi ʻae tupu ʻoe ʻolive, pea ʻe ʻikai ʻi he ngaahi ngoue ha meʻakai; pea ʻe motuhi ʻae fanga sipi mei he lotoʻā, pea ʻe ʻikai ha fanga manu ʻi he ngaahi tuʻunga:
18 yet I will exult in the Lord, I will joy in God my Saviour.
Ka neongo ia te u fiefia ʻia Sihova, pea u nekeneka ʻi he ʻOtua ʻo hoku fakamoʻui.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will perfectly strengthen my feet; he mounts me upon high places, that I may conquer by his song.
Ko ʻeku mālohi ʻa Sihova ko e ʻOtua, pea te ne ngaohi hoku vaʻe ke hangē ko e vaʻe ʻoe hainite, pea te ne pule ke u ʻeveʻeva ʻi hoku ngaahi potu māʻolunga. Ki heʻeku takimuʻa ʻoe fasi hiva ʻi he Nekina.
