< Genesis 35 >

1 And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to the place, Baethel, and dwell there; and make there an altar to the God that appeared to you, when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.
Afei, Onyankopɔn ka kyerɛɛ Yakob sɛ, “Kɔ Bet-El kɔtena hɔ. Sɛ woduru hɔ a, si afɔrebukyia ma me. Me na meyii me ho adi kyerɛɛ wo ɛberɛ a na woredwane afiri wo nua Esau nkyɛn no.”
2 And Jacob said to his house, and to all that were with him, Remove the strange gods that are with you from the midst of you, and purify yourselves, and change your clothes.
Enti, Yakob ka kyerɛɛ ne fiefoɔ ne wɔn a wɔka ne ho nyinaa sɛ, “Monsɛe mo anyame a mode wɔn firi amanɔne baeɛ no nyinaa. Monwira mo ho, na monsesa mo ntadeɛ nso.”
3 And let us rise and go up to Baethel, and let us there make an altar to God who listened to me in the day of calamity, who was with me, and preserved me throughout in the journey, by which I went.
Ɔtoaa so sɛ, “Yɛrebɛtu ɛkwan akɔ Bet-El. Na sɛ yɛduru hɔ a, yɛbɛsi afɔrebukyia ama Onyankopɔn a ɔtiee me mpaeɛbɔ wɔ mʼamanehunu mu, na ɔkaa me ho wɔ mʼakwantuo mu no.”
4 And they gave to Jacob the strange gods, which were in their hands, and the ear-rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the turpentine tree which is in Secima, and destroyed them to this day.
Enti, wɔn nyinaa de wɔn ahoni ne nsonkawa maa Yakob. Yakob tuu fam wɔ odum bi ase wɔ Sekem, de ne nyinaa hyɛɛ hɔ.
5 So Israel departed from Secima, and the fear of God was upon the cities round about them, and they did not pursue after the children of Israel.
Afei, wɔsiim. Wɔrekɔ no, Onyankopɔn bɔɔ nkuro a wɔfaa so no nyinaa mu nnipa no hu a, ɛno enti obiara antumi anti wɔn.
6 And Jacob came to Luza, which is in the land of Chanaan, which is Baethel, he and all the people that were with him.
Yakob ne ne nkurɔfoɔ a wɔka ne ho no bɛduruu Lus a ɛno ara ne Bet-El a ɛwɔ Kanaan asase so no.
7 And he built there an altar, and called the name of the place Baethel; for there God appeared to him, when he fled from the face of his brother Esau.
Ɔsii afɔrebukyia wɔ hɔ, too hɔ edin El-Bet-El, ɛfiri sɛ, ɛhɔ na ɛberɛ a ɔredwane afiri ne nua Esau nkyɛn no, Onyankopɔn yii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ no.
8 And Deborrha, Rebecca's nurse, died, and was buried below Baethel under the oak; and Jacob called its name, The Oak of Mourning.
Yei akyiri no, Debora a ɔyɛ Rebeka bagyegyefoɔ no wuiɛ, ma wɔsiee no wɔ odum bi a ɛwɔ Bet-El bɔn mu no ase. Ɛfiri saa ɛberɛ no, wɔtoo beaeɛ hɔ edin Alon-Bakut, a asekyerɛ ne Agyaadwotwa Dum.
9 And God appeared to Jacob once more in Luza, when he came out of Mesopotamia of Syria, and God blessed him.
Yakob firi Paddan-Aram bɛduruu Bet-El no, Onyankopɔn sane yii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ no, hyiraa no.
10 And God said to him, Your name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name; and he called his name Israel.
Enti Onyankopɔn too ne din sɛ, Israel.”
11 And God said to him, I am your God; increase and multiply; for nations and gatherings of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come out of your loins.
Onyankopɔn ka kyerɛɛ Yakob sɛ, “Mene Onyankopɔn tumfoɔ no. Wʼase nnɔre, na wʼase mfɛe. Ɔman ne aman asafo bɛfiri wo mu aba. Saa ara na ahemfo nso bɛfiri wo mu aba.
12 And the land which I gave to Abraam and Isaac, I have given it to you; and it shall come to pass that I will give this land also to your seed after you.
Mede asase a mede maa Abraham ne Isak no bɛma wo. Aane, mede saa asase korɔ yi ara bɛma wʼasefoɔ.”
13 And God went up from him from the place where he spoke with him.
Yei akyiri no, Onyankopɔn firii beaeɛ a na ɔne Yakob rekasa hɔ no kɔɔ ɔsoro.
14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God spoke with him, [even] a pillar of stone; and offered a libation upon it, and poured oil upon it.
Afei, Yakob sii ɔbodum wɔ hɔ, hwiee afɔresa guu so, de bɔɔ Onyankopɔn afɔdeɛ. Ɔsane de afɔrengo sraa odum no ho.
15 And Jacob called the name of the place in which God spoke with him, Baethel.

16 [[And Jacob removed from Baethel, and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Gader, ]] and it came to pass when he drew near to Chabratha, to enter into Ephratha, Rachel travailed; and in her travail she was in hard labour.
Yakob ne ne fiefoɔ siim firii Bet-El, de wɔn ani kyerɛɛ Efrat. Wɔrekɔ no, awoɔ kaa Rahel wɔ akwantemfi.
17 And it came to pass in her hard labour, that the midwife said to her, Be of good courage, for you shall also have this son.
Ɛberɛ a ɔreko awoɔ no, ɔbaa ɔwogyefoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Nsuro na worebɛwo ɔbabarima bio.”
18 And it came to pass in her giving up the ghost (for she was dying), that she called his name, The son of my pain; but his father called his name Benjamin.
Nanso, Rahel koo awoɔ tɔeɛ. Na ɛberɛ a ne kra refiri ne mu na ɔreyɛ awuo no, ɔtoo ne babarima a wawo no no edin Ben-Oni, a asekyerɛ ne Mʼawerɛhoɔ Mu Ba. “Nanso, nʼagya sane too no edin Benyamin, a asekyerɛ ne Me dɔba.”
19 So Rachel died, and was buried in the way of the course of Ephratha, this is Bethleem.
Rahel wuiɛ, ma wɔsiee no wɔ Efrat a ɛno ara ne Betlehem no akwantemfi.
20 And Jacob set up a pillar on her tomb; this is the pillar on the tomb of Rachel, until this day.

21 And it came to pass when Israel lived in that land, that Ruben went and lay with Balla, the concubine of his father Jacob; and Israel heard, and the thing appeared grievous before him.
