Genesis 34
1 And Dina, the daughter of Lea, whom she bore to Jacob, went forth to observe the daughters of the inhabitants.
౧యాకోబుకు లేయా ద్వారా పుట్టిన కూతురు దీనా. ఆమె ఆ దేశపు యువతులను చూడడానికి బయటికి వెళ్ళింది.
2 And Sychem the son of Emmor the Evite, the ruler of the land, saw her, and took her and lay with her, and humbled her.
౨ఆ దేశపు రాజు, హివ్వీయుడైన హమోరు కుమారుడు షెకెము ఆమెను చూసి ఆమెను పట్టుకుని, బలాత్కారం చేసి చెరిచాడు.
3 And he was attached to the soul of Dina the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and he spoke kindly to the damsel.
౩అయితే అతడు ఆమెపై మనసు పడ్డాడు. ఆమెని ప్రేమించి ఆమెతో ఇష్టంగా మాట్లాడాడు.
4 Sychem spoke to Emmor his father, saying, Take for me this damsel to wife.
౪షెకెము తన తండ్రి హమోరును “ఈ అమ్మాయిని నాకిచ్చి పెళ్ళి చెయ్యి” అని అడిగాడు.
5 And Jacob heard that the son of Emmor had defiled Dina his daughter (now his sons were with his cattle in the plain). And Jacob was silent until they came.
౫అతడు తన కూతురిని చెరిచిన సంగతి యాకోబు విన్నాడు. తన కుమారులు పశువులతో పొలంలో ఉండడం వలన వారు వచ్చే వరకూ నెమ్మదిగా ఉన్నాడు.
6 And Emmor the father of Sychem went forth to Jacob, to speak to him.
౬షెకెము తండ్రి హమోరు యాకోబుతో మాట్లాడడానికి అతని దగ్గరికి వచ్చాడు.
7 And the sons of Jacob came from the plain; and when they heard, the men were deeply pained, and it was very grievous to them, because [the man] wrought folly in Israel, having lain with the daughter of Jacob, and so it must not be.
౭యాకోబు కుమారులు ఆ సంగతి విని పొలం నుండి తిరిగి వచ్చారు. అతడు యాకోబు కూతురును మానభంగం చేసి ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలను కించపరిచాడు. అది చేయకూడని పని కాబట్టి అది వారికి చాలా అవమానకరంగా ఉంది. వారికి చాలా కోపం వచ్చింది.
8 And Emmor spoke to them, saying, Sychem my son has chosen in his heart your daughter; give her therefore to him for a wife,
౮అప్పుడు హమోరు వారితో “షెకెము అనే నా కొడుకు మీ కూతురిపై మనసు పడ్డాడు. దయచేసి ఆమెను అతనికిచ్చి పెళ్ళి చేయండి.
9 and intermarry with us. Give us your daughters, and take our daughters for your sons.
౯మీ పిల్లలను మాకిచ్చి మా పిల్లలను మీరు పుచ్చుకుని మాతో వియ్యం కలుపుకుని మా మధ్య నివసించండి.
10 And dwell in the midst of us; and, behold, the land is spacious before you, dwell in it, and trade, and get possessions in it.
౧౦ఈ దేశం మీ ఎదుట ఉంది. మీరు ఇందులో నివసించి వ్యాపారాలు చేసి ఆస్తి సంపాదించుకోండి” అని చెప్పాడు.
11 And Sychem said to her father and to her brothers, I would find grace before you, and we will give whatever you shall name.
౧౧అతడింకా “నామీద దయ చూపండి. మీరేమి అడుగుతారో దాన్ని నేనిస్తాను.
12 Multiply [your demand of] dowry very much, and I will give accordingly as you shall say to me, only you shall give me this damsel for a wife.
౧౨ఓలి గానీ, కట్నం గానీ ఎంతైనా అడగండి. మీరు అడిగినంతా ఇస్తాను. ఆ యువతిని మాత్రం నాకు ఇవ్వండి” అని ఆమె తండ్రితో, సోదరులతో చెప్పాడు.
13 And the sons of Jacob answered to Sychem and Emmor his father craftily, and spoke to them, because they had defiled Dina their sister.
౧౩అయితే తమ సోదరి అయిన దీనాను అతడు చెరిచినందుకు యాకోబు కుమారులు షెకెముతో, అతని తండ్రి హమోరుతో కపటంగా జవాబిచ్చారు.
14 And Symeon and Levi, the brothers of Dina, said to them, We shall not be able to do this thing, to give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised, for it is a reproach to us.
౧౪వారు “మేము ఈ పనికి అంగీకరించలేం. సున్నతి చేయించుకోని వాడికి మా సోదరిని ఇయ్యలేము. ఎందుకంటే అది మాకు అవమానకరం.
15 Only on these terms will we conform to you, and dwell amongst you, if you also will be as we are, in that every male of you be circumcised.
౧౫అయితే మీలో ప్రతి పురుషుడు సున్నతి పొంది మాలాగా ఉండే పక్షంలో మాత్రమే మేము దీనికి అంగీకరించగలం.
16 And we will give our daughters to you, and we will take of your daughters for wives to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will be as one race.
౧౬ఆ ఒక్క షరతుతో మీ మాటకు ఒప్పుకుని, మా పిల్లలను మీ కిచ్చి మీ పిల్లలను మేము చేసుకుని, మీ మధ్య నివసిస్తాం. అప్పుడు మనమంతా ఒకే జనంగా ఉంటాం.
17 But if you will not listen to us to be circumcised, we will take our daughter and depart.
౧౭మీరు మా మాట విని సున్నతి పొందకపోతే మా అమ్మాయిని తీసుకు వెళ్ళిపోతాం” అన్నారు.
18 And the words pleased Emmor, and Sychem the son of Emmor.
౧౮వారి మాటలు హమోరుకూ అతని కుమారుడు షెకెముకూ ఇష్టంగా ఉన్నాయి.
19 And the young man delayed not to do this thing, for he was much attached to Jacob's daughter, and he was the most honourable of all in his father's house.
౧౯ఆ యువకుడికి యాకోబు కూతురు అంటే ప్రేమ కాబట్టి అతడు ఆ పని చేయడానికి ఆలస్యం చేయలేదు. అతడు తన వంశం వారందరిలో పేరు పొందినవాడు.
20 And Emmor and Sychem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke to the men of their city, saying,
౨౦హమోరూ అతని కుమారుడు షెకెమూ ఆ ఊరి ద్వారం దగ్గరికి వచ్చి తమ ఊరి ప్రజలతో మాట్లాడుతూ,
21 These men are peaceful, let them dwell with us upon the land, and let them trade in it, and behold the land is extensive before them; we will take their daughters to us for wives, and we will give them our daughters.
౨౧“ఈ మనుషులు మనతో సమాధానంగా ఉన్నారు కాబట్టి వారిని మన దేశంలో ఉండనిచ్చి దీనిలో వ్యాపారం చేసుకోనిద్దాం. ఈ భూమి వారికి కూడా చాలినంత విశాలంగా ఉంది కదా, మనం వారి పిల్లలను చేసుకుని మన పిల్లలను వారికి ఇద్దాం.
22 Only on these terms will the men conform to us to dwell with us so as to be one people, if every male of us be circumcised, as they also are circumcised.
౨౨అయితే ఒక విషయం, ఆ మనుషులు సున్నతి పొందినట్టుగానే మనలో ప్రతి పురుషుడు సున్నతి పొందితేనే వారు మన మాటకు ఒప్పుకుని మనలో నివసించి ఒకే జనంగా కలిసి ఉంటారు.
23 And shall not their cattle and their herds, and their possessions, be ours? only in this let us conform to them, and they will dwell with us.
౨౩వారి మందలూ వారి ఆస్తీ వారి పశువులూ అన్నీ మనవవుతాయి కదా. ఎలాగైనా మనం వారి షరతుకు ఒప్పుకుందాం. అప్పుడు వారు మనలో నివసిస్తారు.”
24 And all that went in at the gate of their city listened to Emmor and Sychem his son, and they were circumcised in the flesh of their foreskin every male.
౨౪హమోరు, అతని కుమారుడు షెకెము చెప్పిన మాటలు ఆ ఊరి ద్వారం గుండా వెళ్ళేవారంతా విన్నారు. అప్పుడు ఆ ద్వారం గుండా వెళ్ళే వారిలో ప్రతి పురుషుడు సున్నతి పొందాడు.
25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, the two sons of Jacob, Symeon and Levi, Dina's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city securely, and killed every male.
౨౫మూడో రోజు వారంతా బాధపడుతూ ఉన్నప్పుడు యాకోబు కుమారుల్లో ఇద్దరు, అంటే దీనా సోదరులైన షిమ్యోను, లేవి, వారి కత్తులు తీసుకు అకస్మాత్తుగా ఆ ఊరిమీద పడి ప్రతి మగ వాణ్నీ చంపేశారు.
26 And they killed Emmor and Sychem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dina out of the house of Sychem, and went forth.
౨౬వారు హమోరునీ అతని కొడుకు షెకెమునీ కత్తితో చంపి షెకెము ఇంట్లో నుండి దీనాను తీసుకెళ్ళిపోయారు.
27 But the sons of Jacob came upon the wounded, and ravaged the city wherein they had defiled Dina their sister.
౨౭తక్కిన యాకోబు కొడుకులు తమ సోదరిని చెరిపినందుకు చనిపోయిన వారు పడి ఉన్నచోటికి వచ్చి ఆ ఊరిపై పడి దోచుకున్నారు.
28 And their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses they took, and all things whatever were in the city, and whatever were in the plain.
౨౮వారి గొర్రెలనూ పశువులనూ గాడిదలనూ ఊరిలో గానీ పొలంలో గానీ
29 And they took captive all the persons of them, and all their store, and their wives, and plundered both whatever things there were in the city, and whatever things there were in the houses.
౨౯వారి ఆస్తి అంతా తీసుకు, వారి పిల్లలనూ స్త్రీలనూ చెరపట్టి, వారి ఇళ్ళలో ఉన్న వస్తువులు సైతం దోచుకున్నారు.
30 And Jacob said to Symeon and Levi, You have made me hateful so that I should be evil to all the inhabitants of the land, both amongst the Chananites and the Pherezites, and I am few in number; they will gather themselves against me and cut me in pieces, and I shall be utterly destroyed, and my house.
౩౦అప్పుడు యాకోబు షిమ్యోనునూ లేవినీ పిలిచి “మీరు ఈ దేశంలో నివసించే కనానీయులూ పెరిజ్జీయులూ నన్ను అసహ్యించుకొనేలా చేశారు. నా ప్రజల సంఖ్య తక్కువే. వారు నా మీదికి గుంపుగా వచ్చి నన్ను చంపుతారు. నేను, నా ఇంటివారు నాశనమవుతాం” అన్నాడు.
31 And they said, Nay, but shall they treat our sister as an harlot?
౩౧అందుకు వారు “మరి వేశ్య పట్ల చేసినట్టు మా చెల్లి పట్ల చేయవచ్చా?” అన్నారు.
