< Jezekiel 35 >
1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Moreover the word of Yhwh came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set your face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3 and say to it, Thus says the Lord God; Behold, I am against you, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against you, and will make you a waste, and you shall be made desolate.
And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord Yhwh; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.
4 And I will cause desolation in your cities, and you shall be desolate, and you shall know that I am the Lord.
I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am Yhwh.
5 Because you have been a perpetual enemy, and have laid wait craftily for the house of Israel, with the hand of enemies with a sword, in the time of injustice, at the last:
Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
6 Therefore, as I live, says the Lord God, verily you have sinned even to blood, therefore blood shall pursue you.
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Yhwh, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.
7 And I will make mount Seir a waste, and desolate, and I will destroy from off it men and cattle:
Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.
8 and I will fill your hills and your valleys with slain men, and in all your plains there shall fall in you men slain with the sword.
And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
9 I will make you a perpetual desolation, and your cities shall not be inhabited any more: and you shall know that I am the Lord.
I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am Yhwh.
10 Because you said, The two nations and the two countries shall be mine, and I shall inherit them; whereas the Lord is there:
Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas Yhwh was there:
11 therefore, [as] I live, says the Lord, I will even deal with you according to your enmity, and I will be made known to you when I shall judge you:
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Yhwh, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
12 and you shall know that I am the Lord. I have heard the voice of your blasphemies, whereas you have said, The desert mountains of Israel are given to us for food;
And thou shalt know that I am Yhwh, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13 and you have spoken swelling words against me with your mouth: I have heard [them].
Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
14 Thus says the Lord; When all the earth is rejoicing, I will make you desert.
Thus saith the Lord Yhwh; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.
15 You shall be desert, O mount Seir, and all Idumea; and it shall be utterly consumed: and you shall know that I am the Lord their God.
As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am Yhwh.
