Jezekiel 27
1 And the word of the Lord came to me saying,
La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 And you, son of man, take up a lamentation against Sor;
« Toi, fils de l’homme, prononce sur Tyr une lamentation,
3 and you shall say to Sor that dwells at the entrance of the sea, to the mart of the nations coming from many islands, Thus says the Lord to Sor; You have said, I have clothed myself with my beauty.
et dis à Tyr: Ô toi qui es assise aux entrées de la mer, qui trafiquais avec les peuples, vers des îles nombreuses, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Ô Tyr, tu as dit: « Je suis parfaite en beauté! »
4 In the heart of the sea your sons have put beauty upon you for Beelim.
ton domaine est au sein des mers; ceux qui t’ont bâtie ont rendu parfaite ta beauté.
5 Cedar in Senir was employed for you in building: boards of cypress timber were taken out of Libanus, and wood to make you masts of fir.
Ils ont construit en cyprès de Sanir toutes tes planches; ils ont pris un cèdre du Liban, pour t’en faire un mât.
6 They made your oars [of wood] out of the land of Basan; your sacred utensils they made of ivory, your shady houses of wood from the isles of Chetiim.
De chênes de Basan ils ont fait tes rames; ils ont fait tes bancs d’ivoire incrusté dans du buis provenant des îles de Kittim.
7 Fine linen with embroidery from Egypt supplied the couch, to put honour upon you, and to clothe you with blue and purple from the isles of Elisai; and they became your coverings.
Le fin lin d’Égypte, avec ses broderies, formait tes voiles, il te servait de pavillon; l’hyacinthe et l’écarlate des îles d’Élisa formaient tes tentures.
8 And your princes were the dwellers in Sidon, and the Aradians were your rowers: your wise men, O Sor, who were in you, these were your pilots.
Les habitants de Sidon et d’Arvad te servaient de rameurs; tes sages qui étaient chez toi, ô Tyr, étaient tes pilotes.
9 The elders of the Biblians, and their wise men, who were in you, these helped your counsel: and all the ships of the sea and their rowers traded for you to the utmost west.
Les anciens de Giblium et ses sages étaient chez toi, réparant tes fissures. Tous les vaisseaux de la mer et leurs marins étaient chez toi, pour échanger tes marchandises.
10 Persians and Lydians and Libyans were in your army: your warriors hung in you shields and helmets; these gave [you] your glory.
Perses, Lydiens et Lybiens étaient dans ton armée, c’étaient tes hommes de guerre; ils suspendaient chez toi le casque et le bouclier, et te donnaient de la splendeur.
11 The sons of the Aradians and your army were upon the walls; there were guards in your towers: they hung their quivers on your battlements round about; these completed your beauty.
Les fils d’Arvad et ton armée étaient sur tes murailles tout autour, et des hommes vaillants étaient sur tes forteresses; ils suspendaient leurs boucliers à tes murs tout autour; ils te rendaient parfaite en beauté.
12 The Carthaginians were your merchants because of the abundance of all your strength; they furnished your market with silver, and gold, and iron, and tin, and lead.
Tharsis trafiquait avec toi pour ses richesses de toutes sortes, argent, fer, étain et plomb, dont elle payait tes marchandises.
13 Greece, both the whole [world], and the adjacent coasts, these traded with you in the persons of men, and they gave [as] your merchandise vessels of brass.
Javan, Tubal et Mosoch faisaient commerce avec toi; avec des âmes d’hommes et des vases de cuivre, ils soldaient tes créances.
14 Out of the house of Thogarma horses and horsemen furnished the market.
Ceux de la maison de Thogorma, avec des chevaux de trait, des chevaux de course et des mulets, payaient tes marchandises.
15 The sons of the Rhodians were your merchants; from the islands they multiplied your merchandise, [even] elephants' teeth: and to them that came in you did return your prices,
Les fils de Dédan faisaient commerce avec toi; le trafic d’îles nombreuses était dans ta main; elles te donnaient en paiement des cornes d’ivoires et de l’ébène.
16 [even] men [as] your merchandise, from the multitude of your trading [population], myrrh and embroidered works from Tharsis: Ramoth also and Chorchor furnished your market.
Aram trafiquait avec toi, pour la multitude de tes produits; avec des escarboucles, de la pourpre, des broderies, du fin lin, du corail et des rubis, il soldait tes créances.
17 Juda and the children of Israel, these were your merchants; in the sale of corn and ointments and cassia: and they gave the best honey, and oil, and resin, to your trading [population].
Juda et le pays d’Israël faisaient commerce avec toi, pour le froment de Minnith, les parfums, le miel, l’huile et le baume.
18 [The people of] Damascus were your merchants by reason of the abundance of all your power; wine out of Chelbon, and wool from Miletus; and they brought wine into your market.
Damas trafiquait avec toi, pour la multitude de tes produits, pour la multitude de tes biens, qu’elle échangeait avec du vin de Helbon et de la laine de Tsachar.
19 Out of Asel [came] wrought iron, and there is the sound of wheels amongst your trading [population].
Védan et Javan de Ouzzal, avec du fer fabriqué, payaient tes marchandises; la casse et le roseau odorant soldaient ta créance.
20 [The people of] Daedan were your merchants, with choice cattle for chariots.
Dédan faisait commerce avec toi, pour des housses servant à monter à cheval.
21 Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, these were your traders with you, [bringing] camels, and lambs, and rams, in which they trade with you.
L’Arabie et tous les princes de Cédar trafiquaient avec toi; pour des moutons, des béliers et des boucs, ils trafiquaient avec toi.
22 The merchants of Sabba and Ramma, these were your merchants, with choice spices, and precious stones: and they brought gold to your market.
Les commerçants de Saba et de Rééma faisaient commerce avec toi; avec tous les meilleurs aromates, avec toute espèce de pierres précieuses et avec de l’or ils payaient tes marchandises.
23 Charra, and Chanaa, these were your merchants: Assur, and Charman, were your merchants:
Haran, Chéné et Éden, les commerçants de Saba, Assur et Chelmad faisaient commerce avec toi;
24 bringing [for] merchandise blue, and choice stores bound with cords, and cypress wood.
ils faisaient avec toi commerce d’objets de luxe; manteaux de pourpre violette et de brocart, coffres à vêtements, cordes tressées et fortes, planches de cèdre pour tes expéditions.
25 Ships were your merchants, in abundance, with your trading [population]: and you were filled and very heavily loaded in the heart of the sea.
Les vaisseaux de Tharsis étaient tes caravanes, pour transporter tes marchandises. Tu es devenue tout à fait opulente et glorieuse, au sein des mers.
26 Your rowers have brought you into great waters: the south wind has broken you in the heart of the sea.
Mais sur les grandes eaux où te conduisaient ceux qui maniaient tes rames, le vent d’Orient t’a brisée, au sein des mers.
27 Your forces, and your gain, and that of your traders, and your rowers, and your pilots, and your counsellors, and they that traffic with you, and all your warriors that are in you: and all your company in the midst of you shall perish in the heart of the sea, in the day of your fall.
Tes richesses, ton trafic, tes marchandises, tes marins et tes pilotes, tes radoubeurs, les courtiers de ton commerce, tous tes hommes de guerre, qui sont chez toi, avec toute la multitude qui est au milieu de toi, tomberont au sein des mers, au jour de ta chute.
28 At the cry of your voice your pilots shall be greatly terrified.
Au bruit des cris de tes pilotes, les plages trembleront;
29 And all the rowers and the mariners shall come down from the ships, and the pilots of the sea shall stand on the land.
Et ils descendront de leurs navires, tous ceux qui manient une rame, les marins, tous les pilotes de la mer, et ils se tiendront sur terre.
30 And they shall wail over you with their voice, and cry bitterly, and put earth on their heads, and spread ashes under them.
Ils élèveront la voix sur toi, et pousseront des cris amers; ils jetteront de la poussière sur leurs têtes, et se rouleront dans la cendre.
Pour toi ils se raseront la tête, ils se revêtiront de sacs, et, dans l’amertume de leur âme, ils verseront sur toi des larmes, des pleurs amers.
32 And their sons shall take up a [lament] for you, even a lamentation for Sor, [saying],
Dans leur douleur, ils prononceront sur toi une lamentation, ils se lamenteront sur toi, en disant: Qui est comme Tyr, comme celle qui est devenue muette, au milieu de la mer?
33 How large a reward have you gained from the sea? you have filled nations out of your abundance; and out of your mixed merchandise you have enriched all the kings of the earth.
Quand tes marchandises sortaient des mers, tu rassasiais des peuples nombreux; par l’abondance de tes richesses et de ton trafic, tu enrichissais les rois de la terre.
34 Now are you broken in the sea, your traders are in the deep water, and all your company in the midst of you: all your rowers have fallen.
Maintenant que tu as été brisée par les mers, et jetée au fond des eaux, tes marchandises et toute ta multitude ont sombré avec toi.
35 All the dwellers in the islands have mourned over you, and their kings have been utterly amazed, and their countenance has wept.
Tous les habitants des îles sont dans la stupeur à cause de toi; leurs rois sont saisis d’épouvante, leurs visages sont bouleversés.
36 Merchants from the nations have hissed at you; you are utterly destroyed, and shall not be any more for ever.
Les commerçants des peuples sifflent sur toi; tu es devenue un sujet d’effroi; et pour jamais tu n’es plus! »
