Esther 2

1 And after this the king's anger was pacified, and he no more mentioned Astin, bearing in mind what she had said, and how he had condemned her.

അതിന്റെശേഷം അഹശ്വേരോശ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ ക്രോധം ശമിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ വസ്ഥിയെയും അവൾ ചെയ്തതിനെയും അവളെക്കുറിച്ചു കല്പിച്ച വിധിയെയും ഓർത്തു.

2 Then the servants of the king said, Let there be sought for the king chaste [and] beautiful young virgins.

അപ്പോൾ രാജാവിന്റെ സേവകന്മാരായ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞതു: രാജാവിന്നു വേണ്ടി സൗന്ദര്യമുള്ള യുവതികളായ കന്യകമാരെ അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ;

3 And let the king appoint local governors in all the provinces of his kingdom, and let them select fair [and] chaste young damsels [and bring them] to the city Susa, into the women's apartment, and let them be consigned to the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women; and let things for purification and other attendance be given [to them].

രാജാവു രാജ്യത്തിലെ സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരെ നിയമിക്കേണം; അവർ സൗന്ദര്യമുള്ള യുവതികളായ സകലകന്യകമാരെയും ശേഖരിച്ചു ശൂശൻരാജധാനിയിലെ അന്തഃപുരത്തിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡനായി അന്തഃപുരപാലകനായ ഹേഗായിയുടെ വിചാരണയിൽ ഏല്പിക്കയും അവർക്കു ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടുന്ന വസ്തുക്കൾ കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

4 And let the woman who shall please the king be queen instead of Astin. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.

രാജാവിന്നു ബോധിച്ച യുവതി വസ്ഥിക്കു പകരം രാജ്ഞിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ. ഈ കാര്യം രാജാവിന്നു ബോധിച്ചു; അവൻ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു.

5 Now there was a Jew in the city Susa, and his name was Mardochaeus, the [son] of Jairus, [the son] of Semeias, [the son] of Cisaeus, of the tribe of Benjamin;

എന്നാൽ ശൂശൻ രാജധാനിയിൽ ബെന്യാമീന്യനായ കീശിന്റെ മകനായ ശിമെയിയുടെ മകനായ യായീരിന്റെ മകൻ മൊർദ്ദെഖായി എന്നു പേരുള്ള യെഹൂദൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

6 who had been brought a prisoner from Jerusalem, which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried into captivity.

ബാബേൽരാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസർ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഖൊന്യാവോടുകൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോയിരുന്ന പ്രവാസികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ അവനെയും യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയിരുന്നു.

7 And he had a foster child, daughter of Aminadab his father's brother, and her name [was] Esther; and when her parents were dead, he brought her up for a wife for himself: and the damsel was beautiful.

അവൻ തന്റെ ചിറ്റപ്പന്റെ മകളായ എസ്ഥേർ എന്ന ഹദസ്സെക്കു അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവളെ വളർത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഈ യുവതി രൂപവതിയും സുമുഖിയും ആയിരുന്നു; അവളുടെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും മരിച്ചശേഷം മൊർദ്ദെഖായി അവളെ തനിക്കു മകളായിട്ടു എടുത്തു.

8 And because the king's ordinance was published, many damsels were gathered to the city Susa under the hand of Gai; and Esther was brought to Gai the keeper of the women.

രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയും വിധിയും പരസ്യമായപ്പോൾ അനേകം യുവതികളെ ശേഖരിച്ചു ശൂശൻ രാജധാനിയിൽ ഹേഗായിയുടെ വിചാരണയിൽ ഏല്പിച്ച കൂട്ടത്തിൽ എസ്ഥേരിനെയും രാജധാനിയിലെ അന്തഃപുരപാലകനായ ഹേഗായിയുടെ വിചാരണയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

9 And the damsel pleased him, and she found favour in his sight; and he hasted to give her the things for purification, and her portion, and the seven maidens appointed her out of the palace: and he treated her and her maidens well in the women's apartment.

ആ യുവതിയെ അവന്നു ബോധിച്ചു; അവളോടു പക്ഷം തോന്നി; അവൻ അവളുടെ ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടുന്ന വസ്തുക്കളെയും ഉപജീവനവീതത്തെയും രാജധാനിയിൽനിന്നു കൊടുക്കേണ്ടുന്ന ഏഴു ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളെയും അവൾക്കു വേഗത്തിൽ കൊടുത്തു; അവളെയും അവളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളെയും അന്തഃപുരത്തിലെ ഉത്തമമായ സ്ഥലത്തു ആക്കി.

10 But Esther didn’t reveal her family nor her kindred: for Mardochaeus had charged her not to tell.

എസ്ഥേർ തന്റെ ജാതിയും കുലവും അറിയിച്ചില്ല; അതു അറിയിക്കരുതു എന്നു മൊർദ്ദേഖായി അവളോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

11 But Mardochaeus used to walk every day by the women's court, to see what would become of Esther.

എന്നാൽ എസ്ഥേരിന്റെ സുഖവർത്തമാനവും അവൾക്കു എന്തെല്ലാമാകുമെന്നുള്ളതും അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു മൊർദ്ദേഖായി ദിവസംപ്രതി അന്തഃപുരത്തിന്റെ മുറ്റത്തിന്നു മുമ്പാകെ നടന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

12 Now this was the time for a virgin to go into the king, when she should have fulfilled twelve months; for so are the days of purification fulfilled, six months while they are anointing themselves with oil of myrrh, and six months with spices and women's purifications.

ഓരോ യുവതിക്കു പന്ത്രണ്ടു മാസം സ്ത്രീജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടിയുള്ള നിയമപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തു കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം-ആറു മാസം മൂർതൈലവും ആറുമാസം സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗവും സ്ത്രീകൾക്കു ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടിയുള്ള മറ്റു വസ്തുക്കളുംകൊണ്ടു അവരുടെ ശുദ്ധീകരണകാലം തികയും-ഓരോരുത്തിക്കു അഹശ്വേരോശ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ചെല്ലുവാൻ മുറ വരുമ്പോൾ

13 And then [the damsel] goes in to the king; and [the officer] to whoever he shall give the command, will bring her to come in with him from the women's apartment to the king's chamber.

ഓരോ യുവതി രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെല്ലും; അന്തഃപുരത്തിൽനിന്നു രാജധാനിയോളം തന്നോടുകൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൾ ചോദിക്കുന്ന സകലവും അവൾക്കു കൊടുക്കും.

14 She enters in the evening, and in the morning she departs to the second women's apartment, where Gai the king's chamberlain [is] keeper of the women: and she goes not in to the king again, unless she should be called by name.

സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു അവൾ ചെല്ലുകയും പ്രഭാതകാലത്തു രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡനായി വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെ പാലകനായ ശയസ്ഗസിന്റെ വിചാരണയിലുള്ള രണ്ടാമത്തെ അന്തഃപുരത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകയും ചെയ്യും; രാജാവിന്നു അവളോടു ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നീട്ടു അവളെ പേർ പറഞ്ഞു വിളിച്ചല്ലാതെ പിന്നെ അവൾക്കു രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെന്നുകൂടാ.

15 And when the time. was fulfilled for Esther the daughter of Aminadab the brother of Mardochaeus' father to go in to the king, she neglected nothing which the chamberlain, the women's keeper, commanded; for Esther found grace in the sight of all that looked upon her.

എന്നാൽ മൊർദ്ദെഖായി തനിക്കു മകളായിട്ടെടുത്തിരുന്ന അവന്റെ ചിറ്റപ്പൻ അബീഹയീലിന്റെ മകളായ എസ്ഥേരിന്നു രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെല്ലുവാൻ മുറ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവൾ രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡനും അന്തഃപുരപാലകനുമായ ഹേഗായി പറഞ്ഞതു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും ചോദിച്ചില്ല. എന്നാൽ എസ്ഥേരിനെ കണ്ട എല്ലാവർക്കും അവളോടു പ്രീതി തോന്നും.

16 So Esther went in to king Artaxerxes in the twelfth month, which is Adar, in the seventh year of his reign.

അങ്ങനെ എസ്ഥേരിനെ അഹശ്വേരോശ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ഏഴാം ആണ്ടു തേബേത്ത് മാസമായ പത്താം മാസത്തിൽ രാജധാനിയിൽ അവന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു.

17 And the king loved Esther, and she found favour beyond all the [other] virgins: and he put on her the queen's crown.

രാജാവു എസ്ഥേരിനെ സകലസ്ത്രീകളെക്കാളും അധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചു; സകലകന്യകമാരിലും അധികം കൃപയും പക്ഷവും അവളോടു തോന്നീട്ടു അവൻ രാജകിരീടം അവളുടെ തലയിൽ വെച്ചു അവളെ വസ്ഥിക്കു പകരം രാജ്ഞിയാക്കി.

18 And the king made a banquet for all his friends and great men for seven days, and he highly celebrated the marriage of Esther; and he made a release to those who were under his dominion.

രാജാവു തന്റെ സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്കും ഭൃത്യന്മാർക്കും എസ്ഥേരിന്റെ വിരുന്നായിട്ടു ഒരു വലിയ വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു; അവൻ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു വിമോചനവും കല്പിച്ചു; രാജപദവിക്കൊത്തവണ്ണം സമ്മാനങ്ങളും കൊടുത്തു.

19 But Mardochaeus served in the palace.

രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യം കന്യകമാരെ ശേഖരിച്ചപ്പോൾ മൊർദ്ദെഖായി രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കൽ ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു.

20 Now Esther had not revealed her kindred; for so Mardochaeus commanded her, to fear God, and perform his commandments, as when she was with him: and Esther changed not her manner of life.

മൊർദ്ദെഖായി കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ എസ്ഥേർ തന്റെ കുലവും ജാതിയും അറിയിക്കാതെയിരുന്നു; എസ്ഥേർ മൊർദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ വളർന്നപ്പോഴത്തെപ്പോലെ പിന്നെയും അവന്റെ കല്പന അനുസരിച്ചു പോന്നു.

21 And two chamberlains of the king, the chiefs of the body-guard, were grieved, because Mardochaeus was promoted; and they sought to kill king Artaxerxes.

ആ കാലത്തു മൊർദ്ദെഖായി രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ വാതിൽകാവല്ക്കാരിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടു ഷണ്ഡന്മാരായ ബിഗ്ദ്ധാനും തേരെശും ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു അഹശ്വേരോശ്‌രാജാവിനെ കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്‌വാൻ തരം അന്വേഷിച്ചു.

22 And the matter was revealed to Mardochaeus, and he made it known to Esther, and she declared to the king the matter of the conspiracy.

മൊർദ്ദെഖായി കാര്യം അറിഞ്ഞു എസ്ഥേർരാജ്ഞിക്കു അറിവുകൊടുത്തു; എസ്ഥേർ അതു മൊർദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ രാജാവിനെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പിച്ചു.

23 And the king examined the two chamberlains, and hanged them: and the king gave orders to make a note for a memorial in the royal records of the good offices of Mardochaeus, as a commendation.

അന്വേഷണം ചെയ്താറെ കാര്യം സത്യമെന്നു കണ്ടു അവരെ രണ്ടുപോരെയും കഴുവിന്മേൽ തൂക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ഇതു രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ദിനവൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിവെച്ചു.
