< Esther 10 >

1 And the king levied [a tax] upon [his] kingdom both by land and sea.
وَفَرَضَ الْمَلِكُ أَحَشْوِيرُوشُ جِزْيَةً عَلَى الأَرْضِ وَجُزُرِ الْبَحْرِ،١
2 And [as for] his strength and valour, and the wealth and glory of his kingdom, behold, they are written in the book of the Persians and Medes, for a memorial.
أَمَّا مُنْجَزَاتُهُ وَمَآثِرُهُ وَمَا أَغْدَقَ عَلَى مُرْدَخَايَ مِنْ تَكْرِيمٍ حَتَّى ذَاعَ صِيتُهُ أَلَيْسَتْ هِيَ مُدَوَّنَةً فِي كِتَابِ تَارِيخِ أَخْبَارِ أَيَّامِ مُلُوكِ مَادِي وَفَارِسَ؟٢
3 And Mardochaeus was viceroy to king Artaxerxes, and was a great man in the kingdom, and honoured by the Jews, and passed his life beloved of all his nation.
فَقَدِ احْتَلَّ مُرْدَخَايُ الْيَهُودِيُّ الْمَرْتَبَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ بَعْدَ الْمَلِكِ أَحَشْوِيرُوشَ، وَتَمَتَّعَ بِمَكَانَةٍ مَرْمُوقَةٍ بَيْنَ الْيَهُودِ، وَكَانَ يَحْظَى بِرِضَى أَغْلَبِيَّةِ أَبْنَاءِ قَوْمِهِ، فَهُوَ لَمْ يَدَّخِرْ جَهْداً مِنْ أَجْلِ خَيْرِ شَعْبِهِ وَالدِّفَاعِ عَنْ مَصَالِحِ أُمَّتِهِ.٣
