< Deuteronomy 6 >

1 And these [are] the commands, and the ordinances, and the judgements, as many as the Lord our God gave commandment to teach you to do so in the land on which you enter to inherit it.
Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which YHWH your Elohim commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That you may fear the Lord your God, keep you all his ordinances, and his commandments, which I command you today, you, and your sons, and your sons' sons, all the days of your life, that you may live many days.
That thou mightest fear YHWH thy Elohim, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do them, that it may be well with you, and that you may be greatly multiplied, as the Lord God of your fathers said that he would give you a land flowing with milk and honey: and these [are] the ordinances, and the judgements, which the Lord commanded the children of Israel in the wilderness, when they had gone forth from the land of Egypt.
Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as YHWH Elohim of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord.
Hear, O Israel: YHWH is our Elohim, YHWH is one:
5 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your mind, and with all your soul, and all your strength.
And thou shalt love YHWH thy Elohim with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, all that I command you this day, shall be in your heart and in your soul.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And you shall teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them sitting in the house, and walking by the way, and lying down, and rising up.
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And you shall fasten them for a sign upon your hand, and it shall be immoveable before your eyes.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And you shall write them on the lintels of your houses and of your gates.
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
10 And it shall come to pass when the Lord your God shall have brought you into the land which he sware to your fathers, to Abraam, and to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you great and beautiful cities which you did not build,
And it shall be, when YHWH thy Elohim shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
11 houses full of all good things which you did not fill, wells dug in the rock which you did not dig, vineyards and olive yards which you did not plant, then having eaten and been filled,
And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
12 beware lest you forget the Lord your God that brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Then beware lest thou forget YHWH, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 You shall fear the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve; and you shall cleave to him, and by his name you shall swear.
Thou shalt fear YHWH thy Elohim, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
14 Go you not after other gods of the gods of the nations round about you;
Ye shall not go after other elohim, of the elohim of the people which are round about you;
15 for the Lord your God in the midst of you [is] a jealous God, lest the Lord your God be very angry with you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth.
(For YHWH thy Elohim is a jealous El among you) lest the anger of YHWH thy Elohim be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
16 You shall not tempt the Lord your God, as you tempted him in the temptation.
Ye shall not tempt YHWH your Elohim, as ye tempted him in Massah.
17 You shall by all means keep the commands of the Lord your God, the testimonies, and the ordinances, which he commanded you.
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of YHWH your Elohim, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
18 And you shall do that which is pleasing and good before the Lord your God, that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and inherit the good land, which the Lord sware to your fathers,
And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of YHWH: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which YHWH sware unto thy fathers.
19 to chase all your enemies from before your face, as the Lord said.
To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as YHWH hath spoken.
20 And it shall come to pass when your son shall ask you at a future time, saying, What are the testimonies, and the ordinances, and the judgements, which the Lord our God has commanded us?
And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which YHWH our Elohim hath commanded you?
21 Then shall you say to your son, We were slaves to Pharao in the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought us forth thence with a mighty hand, and with a high arm.
Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and YHWH brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:
22 And the Lord wrought signs and great and grievous wonders in Egypt, on Pharao and on his house before us.
And YHWH shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:
23 And he brought us out thence to give us this land, which he sware to give to our fathers.
And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.
24 And the Lord charged us to observe all these ordinances; to fear the Lord our God, that it may be well with us for ever, that we may live, as even today.
And YHWH commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear YHWH our Elohim, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
25 And there shall be mercy to us, if we take heed to keep all these commands before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before YHWH our Elohim, as he hath commanded us.
