Deuteronomy 30
1 And it shall come to pass when all these things shall have come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before your face, and you shall call [them] to mind amongst all the nations, wherein the Lord shall have scattered you,
Lors donc que seront venues sur toi toutes ces paroles, la bénédiction ou la malédiction, que j’ai exposées en ta présence, et que conduit par le repentir de ton cœur, parmi les nations, chez lesquelles t’aura dispersé le Seigneur ton Dieu,
2 and shall return to the Lord your God, and shall listen to his voice, according to all things which I charge you this day, with all your heart, and with all your soul;
Tu seras revenu à lui avec tes enfants, et que tu obéiras à ses ordres en tout ton cœur et en toute ton âme, comme moi, je te prescris aujourd’hui,
3 then the Lord shall heal your iniquities, and shall pity you, and shall again gather you out from all the nations, amongst which the Lord has scattered you.
Le Seigneur ton Dieu ramènera tes captifs, il aura pitié de toi, et il te rassemblera encore du milieu de tous les peuples chez lesquels il t’avait auparavant dispersé.
4 If your dispersion be from one end of heaven to the other, thence will the Lord your God gather you, and thence will the Lord your God take you.
Quand tu aurais été dispersé jusqu’aux pôles du ciel, le Seigneur ton Dieu t’en retirera,
5 And the Lord your God shall bring you in from thence into the land which your fathers have inherited, and you shall inherit it; and he will do you good, and multiply you above your fathers.
Et il te prendra, et t’introduira dans la terre qu’ont possédée tes pères et tu en seras maître; et te bénissant il te rendra plus nombreux que furent tes pères.
6 And the Lord shall purge your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live.
Le Seigneur ton Dieu circoncira ton cœur et le cœur de ta postérité, afin que tu aimes le Seigneur ton Dieu en tout ton cœur et en toute ton âme, afin que tu puisses vivre.
7 And the Lord your God will put these curses upon your enemies, and upon those that hate you, who have persecuted you.
Mais toutes ces malédictions, il les fera retourner sur tes ennemis et sur ceux qui te haïssent et te persécutent.
8 And you shall return and listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and shall keep his commands, all that I charge you this day.
Pour toi, tu reviendras, et tu écouteras la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu pratiqueras tous ses commandements que moi, je te prescris aujourd’hui;
9 And the Lord your God shall bless you in every work of your hands, in the offspring of your body, and in the offspring of your cattle, and in the fruits of your land, because the Lord your God will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers:
Et le Seigneur ton Dieu te fera abonder en toutes les œuvres de tes mains, en enfants de ton sein, en fruit de tes bestiaux, en fécondité de ta terre et en dons de toutes choses. Car le Seigneur reviendra pour se complaire en toi, en te comblant de tous les biens, comme il s’est complu dans tes pères;
10 if you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments, and his ordinances, and his judgements written in the book of this law, if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul.
Si cependant tu écoutes la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu, que tu gardes ses préceptes et ses cérémonies qui sont écrites dans cette loi, et que tu reviennes au Seigneur ton Dieu en tout ton cœur et en toute ton âme.
11 For this command which I give you this day is not grievous, neither is it far from you.
Ce commandement que moi, je te prescris aujourd’hui, n’est pas au-dessus de toi, ni éloigné;
12 It is not in heaven above, [as if there were one] saying, Who shall go up for us into heaven, and shall take it for us, and we will hear and do it?
Ni placé dans le ciel, en sorte que tu puisses dire: Qui de nous peut monter au ciel, pour nous l’apporter, et pour que nous l’entendions et l’accomplissions par nos œuvres?
13 Neither is it beyond the sea, saying, Who will go over for us to the other side of the sea, and take it for us, and make it audible to us, and we will do it?
Il n’a pas été posé non plus au-delà de la mer, pour que tu trouves un prétexte et que tu dises: Qui de nous pourra passer la mer, et l’apporter jusqu’à nous, afin que nous puissions l’entendre, et faire ce qui est ordonné?
14 The word is very near you, in your mouth, and in your heart, and in your hands to do it.
Mais ce commandement est tout près de toi, dans ta bouche et dans ton cœur, pour que tu le pratiques.
15 Behold, I have set before you this day life and death, good and evil.
Considère que j’ai proposé aujourd’hui en ta présence la vie et le bien, et d’un autre côté la mort et le mal,
16 If you will listen to the commands of the Lord your God, which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his ordinances, and his judgements; then you shall live, and shall be many in number, and the Lord your God shall bless you in all the land into which you go to inherit it.
Afin que tu aimes le Seigneur ton Dieu, que tu marches dans ses voies, que tu gardes ses commandements, ses cérémonies et ses ordonnances; et que tu vives, et qu’il te multiplie et qu’il te bénisse dans la terre dans laquelle tu entreras pour la posséder.
17 But if your heart change, and you will not listen, and you shall go astray and worship other gods, and serve them,
Mais si ton cœur se détourne, si tu ne veux pas écouter, et que, séduit par l’erreur, tu adores des dieux étrangers, et tu les serves,
18 I declare to you this day, that you shall utterly perish, and you shall by no means live long upon the land, into which you go over Jordan to inherit it.
Je te prédis aujourd’hui que tu périras, et que tu demeureras peu de temps dans la terre, dans laquelle, le Jourdain passé, tu entreras pour la posséder.
19 I call both heaven and earth to witness this day against you, I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: choose you life, that you and your seed may live;
J’invoque à témoin aujourd’hui le ciel et la terre, que je vous ai proposé la vie et la mort, la bénédiction et la malédiction. Choisis donc la vie, afin que tu vives, et toi et ta postérité,
20 to love the Lord your God, to listen to his voice, and cleave to him; for this [is] your life, and the length of your days, that you should dwell upon the land, which the Lord sware to your fathers, Abraam, and Isaac, and Jacob, to give to them.
Que tu aimes le Seigneur ton Dieu, que tu obéisses à sa voix et que tu t’attaches à lui (car c’est lui-même qui est ta vie et la longueur de tes jours), afin que tu habites dans la terre au sujet de laquelle le Seigneur a juré à tes pères, Abraham, Isaac et Jacob qu’il la leur donnerait.
