< Deuteronomy 25 >

1 And if there should be a dispute between men, and they should come forward to judgement, and [the judges] judge, and justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked:
Hangĩgĩa ngarari gatagatĩ ka andũ eerĩ, nĩmatware ciira ũcio igooti-inĩ, nao atuithania a ciira mamatuithanie, marekererie mũndũ ũrĩa ũtarĩ na mahĩtia, nake ũrĩa ũrĩ na mahĩtia mamũtuĩre itua.
2 then it shall come to pass, if the unrighteous should be worthy of stripes, you shall lay him down before the judges, and they shall scourge him before them according to his iniquity.
Kũngĩoneka atĩ ũrĩa ũrĩ na mahĩtia nĩagĩrĩire kũhũũrwo, mũtuithania wa ciira nĩagaathana akome ahũũrwo iboko iringaine na mahĩtia make, mũciiri ũcio akĩonaga,
3 And they shall scourge him with forty stripes in number, they shall not inflict more; for if you should scourge him [with] more stripes beyond these stripes, your brother will be disgraced before you.
no rĩrĩ, ndakamũhũũrithie iboko makĩria ya mĩrongo ĩna. Angĩhũũrwo makĩria ya iboko icio, mũrũ wa thoguo aahota kuoneka arĩ mũmene maitho-inĩ maku.
4 You shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the corn.
Ndũkanoohe ndegwa kanua hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ĩkũranga ngano ĩkĩmĩhũũra.
5 And if brethren should live together, and one of them should die, and should not have seed, the wife of the deceased shall not marry out [of the family] to a man not related: her husband's brother shall go in to her, and shall take her to himself for a wife, and shall dwell with her.
Mũndũ na mũrũ wa nyina mangĩkorwo matũũranagia hamwe, na ũmwe wao akue atarĩ na mwana wa kahĩĩ, mũtumia ũcio wake ndakanahike nja ya nyũmba ĩyo. Mũrũ ũcio wa nyina na mũthuuriwe nĩakamuoya amũhikie, na amũhingĩrie bata wake o ta mũrũ wa nyina na mũthuuriwe.
6 And it shall come to pass that the child which she shall bear, shall be named by the name of the deceased, and his name shall not be blotted out of Israel.
Mwana wa mbere wa kahĩĩ ũrĩa agaaciara nĩwe ũgaatũũria rĩĩtwa rĩa ũcio ũkuĩte, nĩgeetha rĩĩtwa rĩake rĩtikanathario rĩehere Isiraeli.
7 And if the man should not be willing to take his brother's wife, then shall the woman go up to the gate to the elders, and she shall say, My husband's brother will not raise up the name of his brother in Israel, my husband's brother has refused.
No rĩrĩ, mũndũ angĩkorwo ndekwenda kũhikia mũtumia wa mũrũ wa nyina, mũtumia ũcio nĩagathiĩ kũrĩ athuuri hau kĩhingo-inĩ gĩa itũũra, ameere atĩrĩ, “Mũrũ wa nyina na mũthuuri wakwa nĩaregete gũtũũria rĩĩtwa rĩa mũrũ wa nyina gũkũ Isiraeli. Nĩaregete kũhingia bata ũrĩa mũrũ wa nyina na mũthuuri wa mũtumia agĩrĩirwo nĩ kũhingia.”
8 And the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him; and if he stand and say, I will not take her:
Hĩndĩ ĩyo athuuri acio a itũũra rĩake nĩmageta mũndũ ũcio mamwarĩrie. Mũndũ ũcio angĩgwatĩria kuuga atĩrĩ, “Ndirenda kũmũhikia,”
9 then his brother's wife shall come forward before the elders, and shall loose one shoe from off his foot, and shall spit in his face, and shall answer and say, Thus shall they do to the man who will not build his brother's house in Israel.
mũtumia ũcio wa mũrũ wa nyina nĩakambata athiĩ harĩ we o hau harĩ athuuri acio, amũrute kĩraatũ kĩmwe gĩake, acooke amũtuĩre mata ũthiũ, amwĩre atĩrĩ, “Ũũ nĩguo mũndũ ũrĩa warega gwaka nyũmba ya mũrũ wa nyina ekagwo.”
10 And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that has had his shoe loosed.
Rũciaro rwa mũndũ ũcio kũu Isiraeli rũgeetagwo Nyũmba ya Mũndũ Ũrutĩtwo Kĩraatũ.
11 And if men should strive together, a man with his brother, and the wife of one of them should advance to rescue her husband out of the hand of him that smites him, and she should stretch forth her hand, and take hold of his private parts;
Andũ eerĩ mangĩkorwo makĩrũa, nake mũtumia wa ũmwe wao oke gũteithũra mũthuuri wake kuuma kũrĩ ũcio maraarũa nake, nake amũnyiite kĩĩga gĩake gĩa ũciari,
12 you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall not spare her.
nĩagatinio guoko kũu gwake. Ndakanaiguĩrwo tha.
13 You shall not have in your bag various weights, a great and a small.
Mũtigaakoragwo na mahiga ma gũthima meerĩ mataiganainie ũritũ mondo-inĩ cianyu, rĩmwe iritũ na rĩngĩ ihũthũ.
14 You shall not have in your house various measures, a great and a small.
Mũtigakoragwo na igeri igĩrĩ itaiganaine nyũmba-inĩ cianyu, kĩmwe kĩnene na kĩmwe kĩnini.
15 You shall have a true and just weight, and a true and just measure, that you may live long upon the land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance.
No nginya mũkoragwo na ithimi na igeri iria ciagĩrĩire na cia kwĩhokwo, nĩgeetha matukũ manyu maingĩhe ma gũtũũra bũrũri ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũmũhe.
16 For every one that does this [is] an abomination to the Lord your God, even every one that does injustice.
Nĩgũkorwo Jehova Ngai wanyu nĩathũire mũndũ o wothe wĩkaga maũndũ macio, mũndũ o wothe wĩkaga maũndũ matarĩ ma wĩhokeku.
17 Remember what things Amalec did to you by the way, when you went forth out of the land of Egypt:
Ririkanaga ũrĩa Aamaleki maamwĩkire mũrĩ njĩra-inĩ rĩrĩa mwoimire bũrũri wa Misiri.
18 how he withstood you in the way, and harassed your rear, [even] those that were weary behind you, and you did hunger and was weary; and he did not fear God.
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mwarĩ anogu na mũgathirwo nĩ hinya, nĩmacemanirie na inyuĩ rĩrĩa mwarĩ rũgendo-inĩ na makĩũraga andũ othe arĩa maarigĩtie na thuutha; makĩaga gwĩtigĩra Ngai.
19 And it shall come to pass whenever the Lord your God shall have given you rest from all your enemies round about you, in the land which the Lord your God gives you to inherit, you shall blot out the name of Amalec from under heaven, and shall not forget [to do it].
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu akaamũhe ũhurũko kuuma kũrĩ thũ iria ciothe imũrigiicĩirie bũrũri-inĩ ũrĩa ekũmũhe mũwĩgwatĩre ũtuĩke igai rĩanyu-rĩ, mũkaaniina kĩndũ o gĩothe kĩngĩtũma Aamaleki maririkanwo gũkũ thĩ guothe. Mũtikanariganĩrwo nĩ ũndũ ũcio.
