Deuteronomy 14
1 You are the children of the Lord your God: you shall not make any baldness between you eyes for the dead.
तिमीहरू परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरका मानिसहरू हौ । मृतकहरूका लागि तिमीहरूले आफ्नो शरीरमा चोट नपुर्याउनु न त आफ्नो शिरको अगाडिको भाग खौरनू ।
2 For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord your God has chosen you to be a peculiar people to himself of all the nations on the face of the earth.
किनकि तिमीहरू परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरको लागि अलग गरिएका जाति हौ, र परमप्रभुले पृथ्वीको सतहमा बसोबास गर्ने सबै जातिभन्दा उहाँको आफ्नै निज सम्पत्ति हुन तिमीहरूलाई छान्नुभएको छ ।
3 You shall not eat any abominable thing.
तिमीहरूले कुनै घृणित खानेकुरो नखाओ ।
4 These [are] the beasts which you shall eat; the calf of the herd, and lamb of the sheep, and kid of the goats;
तिमीहरूले खान हुने प्राणीहरू यिनै हुन्: गोरु, भेडा र बोका,
5 the stag, and doe, and pygarg, and wild goat, and camelopard.
मृग, हरिण, बराँठ, जङ्गली बोका, चित्तल र पहाडी भेडा ।
6 Every beast that divides the hoofs, and makes claws of two divisions, and that chews the cud amongst beasts, these you shall eat.
दुई भागमा खुर चिरिएका र उग्रने कुनै पनि पशु तिमीहरूले खान सक्छौ ।
7 And these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, and of those that divide the hoofs, and make distinct claws; the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit; because they chew the cud, and do not divide the hoof, these are unclean to you.
तथापि, दुई भागमा खुर चिरिएका र उग्राने यी प्राणीहरूचाहिँ नखानूः ऊँट, खरायो, शापान, किनभने तिनीहरूले उग्रन्छन् तर तिनीहरूको खुर चिरिएको हुँदैन । त्यसैले ती तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुन् ।
8 And as for the swine, because he divides the hoof, and makes claws of the hoof, yet he chews not the cud, he is unclean to you; you shall not eat of their flesh, you shall not touch their dead bodies.
सुँगुर पनि तिमीहरूका लागि अशुद्ध हो किनकि त्यसको खुर चिरिएको हुन्छ तर त्यसले उग्रँदैन । त्यो तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हो । सुँगुरको मासु नखानू, र तिनीहरूका सिनु नछुनू ।
9 And these you shall eat of all that are in the water, you shall eat all that have fins and scales.
पानीमा बस्ने यी जलजन्तुहरूमध्ये पखेटा र कत्ला भएका तिमीहरूले खान सक्छौ ।
10 And all that have not fins and scales you shall not eat; they are unclean to you.
तर पखेटा र कत्ला नभएकाहरूचाहिँ तिमीहरूले नखानू । ती तिमीहरूका लागि अशुद्ध हुन् ।
11 You shall eat every clean bird.
तिमीहरूले सबै शुद्ध पक्षी खान सक्छौ ।
12 And these of them you shall not eat; the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,
तर तिमीहरूले यी पक्षीहरूचाहिँ नखानूः गरुड, गिद्ध, कालो गिद्ध,
13 and the vulture, and the kite and the like to it,
सबै थरीका रातो चील, कालो चील ।
तिमीहरूले कुनै पनि किसिमको काग,
15 and the sparrow, and the owl, and the cormorant,
र अस्ट्रिच, ठुलो लाटोकोसेरो, समुद्री चरो, सबै थरीका बाज,
16 and the heron, and the swan, and the stork,
सानो लाटोकोसेरो, ठुलो लाटोकोसेरो, सेतो लाटोकोसेरो, मरुभूमिको लाटोकोसेरो,
17 and the cormorant, and the hawk, and its like, and the hoopoe, and the raven,
माछा मार्ने चील र जल कौवा खानुहुँदैन ।
18 and the pelican, and the diver and the like to it, and the red-bill and the bat.
तिमीहरूले सारस, कुनै पनि किसिमको बकुल्ला, फाप्रे चरो र चमेरो खानुहुँदैन ।
19 All winged animals that creep are unclean to you; you shall not eat of them.
बथान-बथानमा उड्ने सबै किरा तिमीहरूका लागि अशुद्ध हुन् । तिमीहरूले ती खानुहुँदैन ।
20 You shall eat every clean bird.
तर पखेटा भएका सबै शुद्ध प्राणी तिमीहरूले खान सक्छौ ।
21 You shall eat nothing that dies of itself; it shall be given to the sojourner in your cities and he shall eat it, or you shall sell it to a stranger, because you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a lamb in his mother's milk.
आफै मरेको कुनै पनि थोक नखानू । तिमीहरूका सहरहरूभित्र बस्ने परदेशीलाई त्यो दिन सक्छौ र त्यसले खान सक्छ वा यो परदेशीलाई बेच्न सक्छौ । किनकि तिमीहरू परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरको लागि अलग गरिएका जाति हौ । बाख्राको पाठो माउको दूधमा नपकाउनू ।
22 You shall tithe a tenth of all the produce of your seed, the fruit of your field year by year.
वर्षैपिच्छे तिमीहरूको खेतबाट आउने सबै उब्जनीबाट निश्चय नै दशांश छुट्ट्याउनू ।
23 And you shall eat it in the place which the Lord your God shall choose to have his name called there; you shall bring the tithe of your corn and of your wine, and of your oil, the firstborn of your herd and of your flock, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.
परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले जुन ठाउँलाई आफ्नो पवित्र वासस्थानको रूपमा चुन्नुहुन्छ, त्यही ठाउँमा उहाँको सामु तिमीहरूको अन्न, नयाँ मद्य, तेल र तिमीहरूका गाईवस्तुसाथै भेडा-बाख्राको पहिले जन्मेकाहरूको दशांश खानू । परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरलाई सधैँ आदर गर्न सिक्नू ।
24 And if the journey be too far for you, and you are not able to bring them, because the place [is] far from you which the Lord your God shall choose to have his name called there, because the Lord your God will bless you;
परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई आशिष् दिनुभएपछि उहाँको पवित्र स्थानको रूपमा छान्नुहुने ठाउँमा दशांश लिएर जान तिमीहरूलाई निकै टाढा भयो र तिमीहरूले त्यहाँसम्म दशांश लैजान सकेनौ भने,
25 then you shall sell them for money, and you shall take the money in your hands, and you shall go to the place which the Lord your God shall choose.
तिमीहरूले त्यसलाई बेचेर पैसा आफ्नो हातमा लिन सक्छौ अनि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले छान्नुहुने ठाउँमा जान सक्छौ ।
26 And you shall give the money for whatever your soul shall desire, for oxen or for sheep, or for wine, or [you shall lay it out] on strong drink, or on whatever your soul may desire, and you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice and your house,
त्यहाँ तिमीहरूले इच्छा लागेअनुसार खर्च गर्न सक्छौः गोरुको लागि वा भेडाको लागि वा दाखमद्यको लागि वा कडा दाखमद्यको लागि वा तिमीहरूको इच्छाअनुसार अन्य जुनसुकै थोकको लागि । त्यहाँ तिमीहरूले परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका सामु खाने छौ अनि तिमीहरू र तिमीहरूको घराना रमाउने छौ ।
27 and the Levite that is in your cities, because he has not a portion or inheritance with you.
तिमीहरूका सहरहरूभित्र भएको लेवीलाई नत्याग किनकि त्योसित तिमीहरूसँग झैँ कुनै हिस्सा वा सम्पत्ति छैन ।
28 After three years you shall bring out all the tithes of your fruits, in that year you shall lay it up in your cities.
तिमीहरूले हरेक तिन वर्षको अन्त्यमा वर्ष-वर्षको उब्जनीको सबै दशांश ल्याउनू, र त्यसलाई तिमीहरूका सहरभित्र भण्डारण गर्नू ।
29 And the Levite shall come, because he has no part or lot with you, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow which is in your cities; and they shall eat and be filled, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works which you shall do.
लेवीसित तिमीहरूसँगै कुनै हिस्सा वा सम्पत्ति नभएकोले लेवीसाथै तिमीहरूका सहरहरूभित्र भएका परदेशी, अनाथसाथै विधवा आएर ती खाऊन् अनि तृप्त होऊन् । यसो गर ताकि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूले गर्ने सबै कुरामा तिमीहरूलाई आशिष् देऊन् ।
